May 5, 2012 – August 13, 2018.
On August 13, 2018 we said goodbye to Stefan. You can read my post about that – and him – here.
Stefan
Date of birth: (guesstimated) 5/5/12
Nicknames: Stefonzie, Fonzie, Fonz, Arthur.
Likes: Sleeping in a cat bed. Sleeping on the floor. Sleeping in random spots in the house. Jumping out of the bed he’s sleeping in, taking two steps, and then flopping over on his side to sleep. Stefan is one sleepy, sleepy boy. Also, playing with Ping Pong balls in the early hours of the morning.
Dislikes: Having Newt look at him (Newt hates him, for some reason), having hats put on him (he doesn’t like it, but he puts up with it!)
Stefan showed up on our property in January 2013. I occasionally put a game camera near the feeding station so I can keep an eye on what’s showing up to eat cat food (more possums and raccoons than anything, if you’re curious.) That’s where I first saw him. He first made himself known during the daytime in late January, also over at the feeding station.
Once he started coming around during the day, he was often around during the day. It took a little work and coaxing on Fred’s part (with a lot of canned food involved), but he got Stefan to trust him, and after that Stefan was always around. We had him vetted, fixed, and got his shots. The vet tech estimated that he was 1 – 2 years old. Fred declared that Stefan must have come from the same litter our foster kitten Stompers came from, so I’ve assigned him the same date of birth.
Stefan had a terribly scarred patch on his chest when he showed up, but by the time he showed up it was already beginning to heal. It healed well and the fur has grown back, though you can still feel the scars on his chest when you’re petting him.
By July, Stefan was coming inside the house for longer and longer periods of time, and these days (November 2013), he’s inside more often than he’s not. He’s a tired boy who likes to sleep. He enjoys eating, and in the early hours of the morning he’ll go crazy on any Ping Pong ball he finds, but more often than not he’s curled up in some out of the way place, sound asleep.
He’s possibly the most laid-back cat I’ve ever seen, and will put up with just about anything. Recently we’ve started putting hats on him, and he just puts up with it. He’s a good, sweet boy who hasn’t got an aggressive bone in his body. He gets along great with the foster kittens, though he can be a little rambunctious sometimes, and needs to be spoken to.
You can see all the pictures tagged with his name over at Flickr, and occasionally read about him on Love & Hisses.
A wonderful profile befitting a wonderful boy!
I luff him. What a sweet, sweet boy! And he knows he fell into clover with you and Fred, Robyn!
He’s such a gorgeous, sweet boy!
Oh goodness. The picture of Stefan hanging upside down out of the blue cat thingy – that one is just BEGGING to be cropped and turned into some sort of LOLCAT. I know – you could have a “Caption This” contest 🙂
I have a massive soft spot for Stephan. Please pass on some skritches and possibly even a kiss on the flat of his noggin, if he tolerates such things.
I love Stefan, and am so glad he found you!
I felt the need to come post here…rock on at The Bridge sweet, kitten-nibblin’, hat-wearin’ Buff Dude. Your Mama, but especially your Daddy, loved you so much!!
