Too good not to share. Cat mom asks dog to “babysit”.
Too cute! That dog’s face KILLS me.

Did you examine them all closely to make sure that you named the one with the pointiest ears Spock???
Nope! They all have equally unpointy ears at this point, so we’re gonna have to wait and see if I chose correctly or not!

In that first picture of Spock, on his side, he looks so much like a rat toy! Is his belly fur really shorter than the rest of his fur, or does it just look that way?
I think it’s a combination of lighting and the lighter fur on his belly. As far as I can tell, it’s as long on his belly as on the rest of his body.

Question about their noses: they seem to all have a line above their nose. Is that a “fold” that will eventually fill out? I don’t remember seeing it in so many kits in the same litter.
I think the lines will fill in as they get bigger, but also it’s possible that it’s a matter of whatever breed they are showing through. It’ll be interesting to see what happens!

I took these pictures of the Nestlings after we got home from their spay/neuter surgeries Wednesday afternoon. They were clearly still feeling the effects of the anesthesia.
First, they ate. (That baleful look from Starling on the left is just total perfection. Does it help to know that she was purring loudly the entire time?)
There’s this laundry basket outside the foster room. It’s where I – warning, this fascinating bit of information is going to astound you – put dirty laundry that needs to be washed. None of the kittens ever so much as glance at it. But suddenly Wren decided it was the best place ever. (Note: the dirty laundry is not FILTHY laundry, it’s just a bit fur-covered or something I used to wipe up water. Wren is not lounging on a garbage pile, here.)
Tater said “Duuude. I never noticed how soft this material is. No wonder Wren likes this bed so much!”
Wren and Starling found some sun.
Starling said “I don’t know what this bright light is, but I like it.”
Rufous said “Something’s missing, and I don’t know what.”
Rufous said “You knocked over the laundry basket!” and Wren just smiled. (You can see a bit of her shaved belly.)
As I expected, when I let the kittens out of the foster room yesterday morning, they were back to business as usual.

I love this kitten pie picture because you can see each kitten, and how vibrant Kes’s orange is, compared to Janeway and Troi’s more muted orange splashes.
Then she looked at me. And I think the threat is pretty clearly implied.
Spock thinks Kes makes quite the comfy pillow.
Check out that look of adoration Janeway is giving her mama.
Troi and Janeway (front) are just hanging out.
And there’s the milk bar. From left: Kirk, Troi, Kes, Spock, Riker and Janeway.
I’ve gotten many, many comments asking what breed I think Uhura might be. And, I mean, I dunno. I am no breed expert. But a couple of people have suggested that there’s a pretty limited number of brown breeds – Burmese, Siamese and… I don’t remember what else.
BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS. Someone sent us a DNA test for Uhura! So we’re going to be able to find out just what she’s got in her background! If I remember correctly, it takes about 4 – 6 weeks to get the results (it’s a Basepaws test). I’ll send the test out this weekend, and when the results come in, I will definitely let y’all know what the results are.

Best buds Charlie and Khal love to hang out at the end of the deck and keep an eye on the goings-on.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
It’s Thlurrrrpsday, and please admire Starling and Tater/Plover’s excellent form. Rufous and Wren are impressed! (Yes, there was Churu involved in the making of this picture.)
Kirk’s nursing position is cracking me UP.

There’s a fly in the house, and the fly hunters are on the job! (They can LOCATE the fly, they just haven’t gotten the hang of killing the fly. They need to work on their sneaking technique.)

Throw Back Thursday: From 1 year ago, Kim Wexler’s little hissers were hissing like crazy (and she was pretty unconcerned with their dramatics.)
Wren with some Churu in the corner of her mouth, and Starling trying to figure out how she’s going to get that Churu off her nose.

Starling in Auntie Alice’s bed. Her defiant little “Yes, she said I could sleep here!” face just kills me.
Kes resting her little head on her little paw. Awwwww. 😍

I put this mirror on the floor thinking that the kittens would gather around and look at themselves and it would make a cute picture. But Tater/Plover had other plans. (Yes, I immediately put the mirror away so that they couldn’t break it and cut themselves.)
Good night innernets. (Uncle Charlie & Starling. And confession: this was just a quick nap, but I feel like it’s a perfect “Good night innernets” shot.)
