Dewey would like you to know that he’s a cutie pie. (I mean, OBVIOUSLY.)
I love Louie’s quizzical head tilt.
Another shot of Dewey. (You can see he recently had a little bath – the fur on his back end is still drying.)
Huey’s trying to figure me out.
This is where Huey was when I walked into the bathroom yesterday morning. All piled up in the tub on his back among the clean linens.
Yesterday morning I put the Ducklings in a big carrier in the hallway so that I could properly scrub down the bathroom. I took all the stuff that I’d been storing in the bathtub (clean linens, wipes, various other things) and moved them elsewhere. I scrubbed every inch of the bathroom, threw all the blankets and bedding (and toys) in the wash, and reset the bathroom with clean linens, clean litter, and new (to them) toys. I also put some pads and beds in the bath tub, and then I returned the Ducklings to the bathroom where they spent HOURS playing like crazy things.

Crumpet enjoys being petted, if you wondered.
She looks like she’s trading secrets with Mr. Rattie.
I still haven’t decided what we’re going to call the litter as a whole yet – I need to compile a list and make Fred choose, because at this point there are too many good choices (that is not a complaint!) Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

This picture is from September. Khal spotted a cicada and was trying to figure out whether he wanted to play with it. (He likes to carry cicadas around in his mouth and sometimes into the house because he’s a mighty, mighty hunter.) I think that ultimately this one got away while he was trying to decide, though.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
In case you missed it on the blog this morning, say hello to our newest foster, Crumpet. She’s youngish (about 2 years old) and pregnant, if you couldn’t tell. (They have not yet trapped the Ducklings’ mama, and this is not her.) I’ve had her since last Wednesday (picked her up the day the Magnolias were spayed/neutered), and she is staying in my office. I don’t know how long she’s got to go, but I believe it’ll be a while – maybe a week or two? Y’all know I never know.
HER NAME IS CRUMPET (please do not suggest a different name for her, she is named, and I don’t understand whyyy people try to name cats who are already named). (To be clear, I am perfectly fine with adopters renaming cats/kittens they’ve adopted, but many times I will introduce a new foster by name and get a bunch of “you should name her….” responses. She has a name!) The naming theme for her litter will be: types of breads. Challah, Baguette, Ciabatta, Croissant, Pita, Johnnycake, Zwieback, Crouton, Bialy are just a few of my favorites; I have a very long list, but feel free to make suggestions. 🍞🥐🥖🫓🥙
I don’t know yet what I’ll call the litter as a whole. Feel free to make suggestions for that, too! (The Buns? The Carbs? The Breadlings? I don’t know!)
Former foster Sakana (formerly M’Lynn!)
From Amy: Well, I felt like I needed to sit sakana down and let her know that her sweet baby was officially moved out on her own.. [Her kitten Shelby was adopted along with Drum (now Murphy) and Clairee (now Chloe) on Sunday]
She was devastated. [Tongue in cheek; she is not devastated in the slightest]
But she is the baby now. [Gets to be the baby now, yay! ❤️ ]
(Thanks, Amy!)
Hopefully this isn’t just wishful thinking on my part, but the Ducklings seem to be doing better already – Louie’s back end looks much better, the pain meds are helping a lot, and this morning they were racing around the bathroom like crazy, playing. I still needed to give a couple of butt baths this morning, but they were a lot quicker than they have been, so I consider that a great big plus! (That’s Louie in the picture, he is just so stinkin’ adorable.)

If you missed it on the blog this morning, or in the post from a few hours ago, we have a new foster. Her name is Crumpet, she is pregnant, and I don’t know when she’ll have those kittens but I don’t think it’ll be in the next few days. (I am guessing maybe a week? But I don’t know. Y’all know I’ve never been good at guessing when kittens will be born.) She is in my office, and she’s a happy, happy girl.
(I made this video yesterday when the Ducklings were at the vet; they are doing well today, and hopefully in a few days I can move them from the bathroom to the foster room!)
The Ducklings (left to right: Huey, Dewey, and (back) Louie) are very sleepy. You can faintly hear them purring (I really need to bring the microphone in there so you can properly hear those sweet purrs!)
Good night innernets. (Dewey, who is unbearably cute.)
