Did they ever manage to trap the Ducklings’ mama?
Not yet! They are still trying, though.

You will probably think it’s odd that I’m asking you this but what do you use to clean your wood floors?
In the kitten room, I mop with REScue disinfectant. In the rest of the house, I use Bona Hardwood Floor cleaner. (Note: both of those links are to Amazon, and are affiliate links. I have never seen REScue anywhere else (though I am SURE you must be able to find it elsewhere on the web), but I know you can get Bona at Walmart and Lowe’s – probably Target, too, as well as other grocery stores.)

Since I started following you, I’ve never seen a kitten litter so enamored with your red crate as this batch. It is so cute and funny how much fun they have running between the crate and wall, using it as a climbing apparatus, and pounce/bounce center. Really love the videos.
Do you ever give Crumpet a break from her kittens?
You know, I wonder if their attachment to the crate as both home base as well as a toy to fight with is because they were in the small room (my office) until they were 6 weeks old, and so spent more time in, on, and around it. Usually when kittens are in the foster room from a very young age (or are born there), they leave the crate and pretty much abandon it completely. I’ll be curious to see if they still spend as much time playing on/in/around it as they get older.
I haven’t given Crumpet a break from her kittens yet, because they are actually not bugging her all that much. (I know I posted a picture of her “hiding” under the brass bed, but she was only under there for a minute, and it was mostly because she hadn’t realized you could get under there, so was checking it out.) I’m planning to set up the dining room for her next week, and will put her in there for an hour to start. Depending on how she deals with it, I’ll give her a few hours each day to just chill out and have some quiet time by herself.

Can I ask a question of the other fans of this site…. my colleague knows that daily I have my ‘kitten check in time!’ mid-morning during work, and she’s jealous because although she loves kittens her heart is really with dogs and puppies. Do any of your know a puppy/dog blog that’s anything like this one, that I could recommend to her??
waterdragon left a great comment with links here (thank you!) If anyone has other suggestions, please leave them in the comments!

The close up pic of Pumpernickel – is that an extra little nostril on the left side of his face?
Ha – no, that’s me photoshopping (badly) a huge booger and not looking at the results after I’d done it. (Obviously I don’t have enough of an attention span to photoshop properly!)

Crouton and Pumpernickel have a cuddle.
Pita says “Excuse you, we is tryin’ to nap here!”
If there’s some sun, Babka is there to warm her whiskers in it.
Ciabatta’s all “Seriously, lady. TRYING. TO. NAP!”
Crouton in the sun. She is just so CUTE.
To answer some recent questions:
1. I am not seeing any bonded pairs with this litter. As soon as I start to think “Oh, Ciabatta and Pumpernickel seem to be spending a lot of time together…” they change things up.
2. No one has expressed interest in adopting Crumpet yet, but I have also not announced that Forgotten Felines is accepting applications yet, either. Though I guess now that we know when she’s going to be spayed (the second week of April), if someone out there is interested in adopting her, feel free to drop an email to Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. I don’t think I’d recommend a home with small kids because she can be slappy (if I stop petting her to get up and go do something, she’ll slap at my leg – she has never used her claws on me, but I can imagine that a small child would take offense.)
3. There was a third thing I was going to mention, but it has fled my mind.

Newt, Charlie and Khal on the bed, just hanging out and having a snooze. I don’t know what Charlie did to earn the side eye from Khal, but I probably don’t need to know. It’s not my business.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a litter that didn’t LOVE this little blue cat tree. Here we have Pumpernickel and Crouton mid-tussle – Crouton had to take a moment to observe Thlurrrpsday, of course.
Throw Back Thursday: Charlie in the crate, through the years.
Pic 1: July 2020 – he’s back there behind the orange kitten (Athos). Also in the crate are d’Artagnan (left), Porthos (black and white in the back), Constance (now Oleander) in the front with something to say, and Rochefort (now Rhus) in the middle. They would have been about 6 weeks old here.
Pic 2: About a week after pic 1, hanging out with foster brother Porthos.
Pic 3: December 2020; about 6 months old.
Pic 4: December 2023, 3 1/2 years old with Shelby and Drum (now Murphy) on top of the crate checking him out. He really takes up that crate!

4 1/2 minutes of kitten craziness. These kittens are either going at 100 miles per hour, or they’re out cold. No in-between!
It’s a snuggly nap time for Ciabatta and Pumpernickel.
