Crumpet went for her spay yesterday (this picture was taken just before we left the house.)
We were home again by a little after 11 (she was first in, first out in yesterday’s spay day).
She apparently smelled funny, and Babka went FLOOF.
Then Pumpernickel went FLOOF. (It’s a FLOOF pie! My favorite!)
Ciabatta gave me this look like “It looks like my mama, but she smells funny.”
It only took a few minutes for the kittens to realize she was the same Mama, just wearing different perfume.
After we got home and she got sniffed all over by the kittens, Crumpet had a bite to eat and then settled down for a nap. She was still quiet at bedtime, but she’s an adult and they don’t bounce back quite as quickly as kittens do. I expect by this afternoon she’ll be mostly back to normal. The kittens are being good so far and not bothering her, so all is well in the kitten room.

That is one magnificently full basket.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Crumpet is outta here in a bit for her spay surgery (I will post when it’s over, which is usually sometime in the early afternoon.)
Crumpet is still available for adoption; there’ve been no inquiries on her at all yet. Read her updated description below and if she seems like your kinda gal email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
We are located in the Huntsville, Alabama area; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption, as our hot air delivery balloon is on the fritz.
CRUMPET (DOB 1/24/22) had been hanging around outside an area school, pregnant and desperate for help. She was brought into foster at the end of January, and after a little time she warmed up and decided that the indoor life is pretty darn nice. She gave birth to five kittens on February 5th, and has been a wonderful mother to them. Now that her kittens are older, it’s time for her to find her forever home where she gets to be the baby.
Crumpet is a little timid at first. She’s been through a lot in her young life, and it takes her a little while to learn to trust, but she’s such a sweet love bug that her sweet nature allows her to get past her fear. She loves to be petted – we can not stress this enough, LOVES to be petted! – and will let you pet her for a good long time as she walks back and forth and rubs against you. She has a very sweet purr that she turns on as soon as you start petting her. She hasn’t been a lap cat yet in her foster room, but that very well might change once she doesn’t have a passel of kittens to worry about. She loves to curl up in a basket, on a soft bed, or even in the middle of the floor and just hang out. She’s a playful girl: she likes to bunny-kick stuffed toys, is a big fan of catnip, and has a favorite toy in the form of a catnip-filled green bean (which will go home with her.) She likes other cats and with a slow introduction will likely become fast friends. She has not been around dogs, but would likely be fine with nice dogs.
Please email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
These little goobers are 9 weeks old today! They have begun to learn about Churu (no surprise, Pita and Pumpernickel immediately understood how to eat Churu from the tube; the others just looked at me like “?”) Weight-wise everyone is over 2 pounds (and over 1 KG) and doing great.
Home again, home again. Crumpet’s spay went perfectly, and we’ve been home for about an hour. She walked around purring and rubbing against everyone, had a bite to eat, and now she’s settled down for a snooze. No more kittens for this girl!

It turns out – to no one’s surprise – that Pumpernickel is Da BAYbee, and he’s finally admitted it.
What I didn’t realize until I looked back at the video is that Pita may have also been proclaiming her Da BAYbee status, but I didn’t get (or ask for) a second confirmation from her, so we’ll see if we have two (or more!) BAYbees in this litter.
Outtakes from the 9-week pictures I posted this morning. Only Pumpernickel (left), Crouton (right, top) and Babka felt like smiling this week, I guess.
It’s Toesday, so please admire these speckled beans. The beans in the top picture belong to Babka, and those are Ciabatta’s beans in the bottom pic. Utterly ADORABLE.
Good night innernets, from all the Crumbs kittens. (From left: Pumpernickel, Babka, Pita, Crouton, and Ciabatta.)
