Wren’s all “Lady, I SEES you, from all the way across the room I sees you.”
“And now I sees you from much closer, and I am judging you.”
Starling and the Jazz Paw! in the sun.
I don’t remember what Rufous and Wren were looking at (perhaps they were just staring at the sun and melting some brain cells), but Starling had her disapproving eyes on me.
Starling gives Wren the Ears of Annoyance.
And then she gives her the ol’ chomperoo.
Newt had just walked by and glared at Tater, and it hurt her feelings. Awww.

Left to right: Rufous, Wren, Starling & Tater (formally known as Plover.)
Forgotten Felines of Huntsville is NOW accepting applications for the Nestlings. Email them at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
Of note: Rufous & Wren (the two on the left) are a bonded pair and can ONLY be adopted together. Starling and Tater (official name: Plover) are a bonded pair and can ONLY be adopted together. In other words: we won’t split up bonded pairs.
They are scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries on August 2nd and can go home a few days later
We are located in Huntsville, Alabama. Out of area adoptions are allowed, but the adopter must come here to complete the adoption.
WREN (DOB: 4/11/23; female DSH torbie) was born prematurely to a young mother who wasn’t producing milk and wasn’t able to properly care for her. She came to Forgotten Felines and into foster, joining other bottle babies around her same age. She was bottled-fed and raised with three other (slightly younger) kittens. Now it’s time for these Nestlings (they’re all named after birds) to become Fledglings.
Wren has the strongest will to survive of any kitten her foster mother has ever seen. She was born prematurely, wasn’t able to get milk from her mother, and was barely over 2 ounces when she came into foster. But she latched onto the bottle every single time, gained weight with every feeding and grew into the sweet force of nature she is now. Wren is a TALKER, especially when she’s sleepy. Or hungry. Or just wants to know what you’re doing. She’ll track you down, howl at you until you pick her up and give her love, and then she’ll purr like crazy while you snuggle and kiss her. She’s a lapkitten who wants to sit in your lap and watch TV, occasionally running off to tussle with one of her littermates before returning for more snuggling. She loves to chase after any toy you toss for her, adores springs and ping pong balls and track toys, and rarely moves at a walking pace when a gallop will do. She is a happy, happy girl and considers everything of interest, including every single thing you do. If you want a snooperviser, Wren’s your girl. She’s a great sleeping companion – loves to flop down next to you or across your chest – and would really like it if you’d take 2-hour naps every single day. Though she is not related to Rufous, they were raised together (he’s about a week younger than she is), and they’ve become a bonded pair and must be adopted together. She gets along great with other cats; she hasn’t been around dogs in her foster home, but should be fine with them.
RUFOUS (DOB: 4-16-23; male DSH orange tabby) was found alone at just a few days old, apparently abandoned by his mother. He came to us ice cold and wet, and screaming at the top of his lungs. He went into foster, joining kittens around his age, and was bottle-fed and raised with them. Now it’s time for these Nestlings (they’re all named after birds – Rufous is named after the Rufous Hummingbird) to fly.
Rufous had a rough start and had a few bumps along the way. He had an upper respiratory infection for a little while when he was tiny, requiring him to be tube fed. His foster mother worried that he would never take the bottle, but he finally did – and now he’s a strong, healthy boy who’s thriving. Rufous is just the SWEETEST boy – a total lapkitten who wants to snooze in your lap while you’re working, wants to keep you company while you’re doing just about anything, and if you’re busy he’ll wait patiently for you to have time for him. He is a very polite boy – if you’re sitting down and he wants in your lap, he will meow until you hear him (he has a very quiet meow), then will wait for you to pick him up and put him in your lap. If you don’t hear him, he’ll politely tap your leg to get your attention. He has an instant purr, loves it if you pick him up and flip him onto his back, and he is all about the belly rub. He’s a silly, playful guy who has declared his favorite toy to be a small spring (he has a red one he likes, but will also settle for a blue one), and he can be spotted trotting through the house carrying it in his mouth. He will also play with other toys – ping pong balls, felted balls, rattly mice – but the springs have his heart. He’s a great napping companion – wants to be either on you or near you – and purrs the entire time. He is not related to Wren, but they were raised together (she’s about a week older than he is) and they have bcome a bonded pair. They must be adopted together. He gets along great with other cats – it never occurs to him that they might not want to be friends with him. He hasn’t been around dogs in his foster home, but he should be fine with them.
STARLING (DOB: 4/23/23; female, DSH brown tabby) was discovered by Forgotten Felines during a large Trap-Neuter-Release effort in Huntsville. Starling and her sister Plover were left behind in a barn by their mother when they were only hours old. They immediately went into foster where they joined two other slightly older kittens. All four kittens were bottle-fed and raised together. Now it’s time for these Nestlings (they’re all named after birds) to leave the nest.
Starling distinguished herself while a tiny bottle baby as being the slowest eater ever. That girl would savor her bottle and it was a bit frustrating for her foster mother (luckily Starling is very sweet, so it’s hard to be annoyed by her!) Fortunately, she’s outgrown her slow-eating ways and can now chow down with the best of them. She is a super sweet girl with an instant purr – you only have to glance at her, and she starts purring. She’s a laid-back girl who doesn’t mind being picked up, kissed, and cuddled constantly – and if it’s been a while since you cuddled her, she’ll come looking for more. She’s very playful and adores chasing balls, rattly mice, or springs – but she absolutely loves playing with track toys. Something about watching the ball circle the track just keeps her enthralled. Her favorite toy, by far, is her sister Plover (aka “Tater”) – she loves to jump on her, wrestle with her, and show her who the boss is. She’s a great napping companion and will either snuggle up against you or sleep close by with one paw on you, purring the whole time. She is best friends with her sister Plover, and as a bonded pair they must be adopted together. She gets along great with other cats; she hasn’t been around dogs in her foster home, but should be fine with nice dogs.
PLOVER (nickname: Tater) (DOB: 4/23/23; female, medium-hair silver tabby) was discovered by Forgotten Felines during a large Trap-Neuter-Release effort in Huntsville. Plover and her sister Starling were left behind in a barn by their mother when they were only hours old, and immediately went into foster where they joined two other slightly older kittens. All four kittens were bottle-fed and raised together. Now it’s time for these Nestlings (they’re all named after birds) to fly.
Plover earned the nickname “Tater” when she first started toddling because she had a striking resemblance to a potato. She is starting to hit her long and lean stage, but the nickname has stuck. She has a very sweet, creaky meow, an instant purr, and is very laid back – you can pick her up, flip her onto her back, and kiss her 1,000 times, and she just stays there and purrs and purrs. She is very playful, and has been known to entertain herself by chasing dust floating through the air. She also loves to chase ping pong balls, rattly mice, springs… pretty much whatever you’ve got, she’ll play with. She’s a wonderful sleeping companion and will either snuggle up against you or climb onto you to sleep, purring the entire time. She is the very best of friends with her sister Starling, and as a bonded pair they must be adopted together. She gets along great with other cats; she hasn’t been around dogs in her foster home, but should be fine with nice dogs.
