Clairee, Drum and Ouiser – date of birth – September 20, 2023.
Name theme: Steel Magnolias.
M’Lynn (female, tortie and white) and her kitten Shelby (female, black) came to us on October 25, 2023 when Shelby was 3 weeks old. M’Lynn had been rescued (along with some other cats) from a flea market, already pregnant. She gave birth to a total of 6 kittens, but her milk dried up and the lady who had her didn’t realize it had happened until the 5 kittens had died.
Both M’Lynn and Shelby were very underweight; at the age of 3 weeks old, Shelby was the weight of a 1 week old kitten. M’Lynn weighed just 6 1/2 pounds.
When our foster room cleared out and we were able to move M’Lynn and Shelby into the room, I told Forgotten Felines that Shelby needed some age-appropriate playmates. There were three sibling kittens who were 7 weeks old (2 weeks older than Shelby) at our local animal control who needed a place to go. I brought them home the next day.
Clairee. (Girl; white with buff tabby patches.)
Drum. (Boy; orange tabby and white.)
Ouiser. (Girl; buff tabby and white.)
Shelby marches to the beat of her own drum, but she is slowly learning to play with her adopted siblings. M’Lynn is such a sweetheart that after a few days she began mothering the new kittens and at this point they’re pretty sure she’s their mother.
Adoptions.
M’Lynn was adopted and went home (locally) on December 16th! Her new name is Sakana, and she joins a family that includes another young kitty and a couple of dogs.
Ouiser was adopted and went home (locally) on January 27, 2024! Her new name is Muffin, and she joins a family that includes another young kitty (Waffle) and a dog. You can see her and her family on Facebook here, and Instagram here.
Shelby, Drum and Clairee were adopted – TOGETHER! – on January 28, 2024! They can be seen on Instagram, here (it’s a private account, so you have to request to follow.) (Drum will likely become Murphy, and Clairee will become Chloe – Shelby is staying Shelby.)
