On February 4, 2013, Lilybet came to us after trying to get into someone’s back yard and getting stuck in their chain link fence, poor girl. The lady who found her tried to add Lilybet to her family of rescue dogs and cats, but her elderly cat wasn’t having it. Lilybet is estimated to be about a year old (date of birth is set at 2/1/12), and pregnant. She’s a small cat and at this point isn’t showing much of a belly, so either she’s not very far along, or there are only a few kittens in there.
She’s a sweet, friendly, goofy girl with a large appetite, who plays like a kitten and loves to be petted. I named her Lilybet at a reader’s suggestion. Lilybet is the childhood nickname of Queen Elizabeth II. Her kittens will be named after royal figures, though the names will not necessarily be restricted to UK royalty.
We can’t wait to meet her babies!
Annnnd, on February 18, we learned what I’d been suspecting all along: Lilybet was NOT pregnant. She’ll be spayed and neutered on February 21st, get up to date on her vaccinations, and go to Petsmart when there’s room for her.
You can see all the pictures of Lilybet (and her babies once they’re born) over at Flickr.

Update: Lilybet was adopted at the beginning of May!
