Sunday morning, July 18th, Fred found a hissy little feral kitten in our back yard. We searched high and low for his siblings or his mother, but found nothing. Of course we brought him in – and it was only a couple of days before he got over that ridiculous “feral” nonsense. That was Martin.
Moxie and Melodie were rescued by other Challenger’s House foster mothers, and since we had three lonely onlies, there was nothing to do but put them together!
Moxie’s a true people lover – you can hardly get into the room before she’s meowing for attention, purring, and rubbing against your legs. Melodie’s much shyer, but as soon as you begin petting her, she’ll purr like crazy. I suspect it won’t be long before she’s an attention seeker like her sister. Martin mostly wants to play – though he can occasionally be found rubbing his face against yours. He’s THRILLED to have more cats to play with. In the five days we had him before we got Moxie and Melodie, he was very very lonely. The day we brought his new sisters home, it was like Christmas for him.
And then, one of the foster moms who’d found Melodie and Moxie ran across Dodger, a poor little guy who was living under a convenience store eating the cold chicken fingers they left for him. Since he was about the same age as Moxie and Melodie, we added him to the bunch.
Dodger’s a sweet, skittish guy. Once he warms up, he turns into a total lovebug!

As of December 11, 2010, all four of these kittens have found their forever home – Melodie and Dodger went to the same home!
