Dorothy came to us on April 28, 2011. She showed up in the driveway of one of our neighbors, who lured her out with some meat, and then snatched her up and brought her to us. It was the day after an EF-5 tornado went through a mile south of us and then two miles east of us, and so there was no better name for her than Dorothy (after Dorothy Gale from the Wizard of Oz).
Estimated to be about 7 weeks old, it took Dorothy mere hours to decide that we weren’t so bad after all, and that she liked us quite a bit.
At the moment (May 10th), she’s waiting out her treatment for parasites in our guest bedroom before she can go into general population, and also waiting to be big enough to be spayed. She’s a playful little sweetheart.
You can read about her beginning with this entry (there are links at the bottom of each entry; click on the one on the right to take you to the next one).

Edited to add: On June 4th, 2011, Dorothy went to St. Louis, MO to live with her new Mama, AND she has her very own blog! Read about her adventures here.
