Kara was brought to Challenger’s House as a pregnant cat ready to give birth at any moment. She was tested and checked over at the vet, and I picked her up from there on April 16th, 2008. She spent a restless night in our foster kitten room, and I kept her company all the next day.
The evening of the next day, she pushed out four tiny kittens in the course of a few hours.
Kara and her four babies – River (the only boy, a gray tabby with white paws), Inara (calitabby), Kaylee (torti), and Zoe (calitabby) stayed with us through the Summer.
At the end of August, River and Inara (now renamed Dora and Nate) were adopted together directly from our home. I’ve visited with them several times, and they are extremely happy (and spoiled!) in their new home.
In September, Zoe and Kaylee went to PetSmart for an adoptathon. Neither of them was adopted during the adoptathon, so they stayed at PetSmart. Kaylee was adopted on September 19th, and Zoe was adopted on October 4th.
On October 21, 2008, we decided that we missed Kara too much and couldn’t stand the thought of her being in a cage at PetSmart anymore. We adopted her, and now she’s a permanent resident. She fits in quite nicely.
You can read about Kara and her babies beginning with this entry (there are links at the top of each entry; click on the one on the right to take you to the next one).
I took a lot of pictures of Kara and her babies during their stay here (more than 1400!). You can see them all over at Flickr.
