I left Ike at the vet clinic when I dropped Terry off yesterday, and the shelter manager told me that another foster mom had stopped by to drop off her fosters for spaying and neutering, and grabbed Ike up to foster for herself. She lurves the babies (really, who wouldn’t love Ike??), so I know he’s in good hands.
I won’t lie, though – I kinda miss the little guy!
And speaking of Terry – no eyelips for him! They called early afternoon to ask if I minded if they waited on the eyes. Terry’s still a little guy, and the hernia repair along with the neuter was going to take a while, and they don’t like to keep them under for such a long time. I told them that was fine with me – I wasn’t looking forward to having him recover from the neuter AND hernia repair AND eyelips all at the same time. Hopefully he’ll be going back next week for his eyelips. And if that meant he has to stay here a little longer than his brothers and sister to recover, well darn. Wouldn’t that be horrible?
(Fred said last night, after I went on and on (and on) about how much I love Terry, “We are NOT keeping him!” and then after a long pause “But if we had twelve cats, that would make figuring out the pictures for the calendar for next year a lot easier!” and I said “Well really, you can’t have Jake and Elwood in separate pictures on next year’s calendar because they’re always snuggled up together. We’d have to have thirteen cats to make it come out right!” and he said “We are NOT keeping him and we are NOT keeping two!” Heh.)
Terry was one unhappy little guy last night. Between the hernia repair and the neuter, he couldn’t get in a comfortable position, and so he mostly just sat there, hunched over. He’d allow me to pet him for a moment or two before he made a grumpy “That’s enough” noise. His brothers and sister were so kind to him – they’d be racing around like wild things, then come over and sniff at him, lick him on the face, and then go racing off. If they got too vigorous with the licking, he’d make his grumpy noise, and they’d back right off.
This morning, I opened the door to let the kittens out of their room, and Terry came right over to me, sat on my foot, and bit my leg.
In other words, I think he’s back to normal.
Sam, a week and a half after surgery.
Lafayette, five days after surgery (not that you can see anything!)
Bill, a week after surgery (he doesn’t care for the camera flash, thus the squint).

Oh poor little Terry. And he has to go through more next week with his eyelips. I feel bad for the little guy. That is great that the others were so nice to him last night. They had to know he was uncomfortable. It is good that he is home with everyone to help him out and keep him company. I think they are all adorable so I would have a hard time giving any of them up but Terry would honestly be the toughest for me too.
If I didn’t live on the other side of the country and all ready have 2 cats I would snatch one of this adorable babies up right away. I’m reading the Sookie Stackhouse books now and I think I’d take either Sam or Lafayette (I have a special place in my heart for kittens with mittens and black cats – we have a tuxedo cat and he has the cuttest little fingertip gloves!)Also, who wouldn’t want a cutie with “eyelips”? Such a sweet bunch of kitties!
I asked my boyfriend last night “Could we just not have kids and just continue on with more and more animals?” And he said “What’s the difference?” hehe. Unfortunately my uterus doesn’t feel the same way.. but as of right now there’s just nothing cuter than all my furry ones running around and causing havoc. π i lurrrrve them SO much!
Terry is beyond adorable…wishing him a speedy recovery and maybe getting to stay with you forever!!!
Awww poor little Terry… If I lived closer and didn’t already have four cats where my apartment manager agreed to two (ahem), I would run over and sign up for him!
So sweet of his siblings to comfort him between two rocketbutt races. I hope he feels completely better today!
Can’t wait to see his new eyelips soon…
As for the husband resisting… a good, heartfelt sad Disney bunny impersonation would surely take care of it, no? That, and dropping off a warm, purring Terry in his lap at a particularly vulnerable moment π
I got all excited reading today’s post, thinking that you were going to be able to keep Terry and we could all see him grow up and become a big strong boy….. (ahem, don’t give up on bugging Fred! that’s all I have to say! ;)) That little Terry is certainly a heartwarmer, I think I comment on that every day. I’m happy to hear he isn’t going through all the surgeries at once.. it would probably be a lot tougher on him. But I’m sure when he goes to get the eyelips put on next week, he’ll probably recover just as quickly – he sounds like a trooper. π
Dear Fred,
Unbeknownst to the majority of the population, thirteen is a very lucky number. Just think about it. You live in a land started by thirteen colonies, you? The Great Seal of the US has 13 repeated six times. Colgate University was started by 13 men with 13 dollars. A baker’s dozen means you get something free. Wilt Chamberlain wore #13 his whole career. We could go on.
You want to bring luck and prosperity into your home, don’t you? Of course you do! So there’s only one thing to do, sir!! Listen to your beloved Robyn! (And her wise blog readers!)
Sincerely,
Gus, Peggy Sue, Fred, Percy, Aggie, Annie, Winnie, and Bitty
And, hugs, hugs to all the Truebloods, especially little Terry, today!
May I just say “Exactly what Lisa said”! Thirteen is a fabulous number π *evil grin*
Hope Terry’s doing okay after his surgery…poor little baby! Sending him and the rest of the True Blood Crew lots of virtual hugs and kisses!
Team 13 here too!
What a fabulous, magic number… especially for such magical creatures as cats!
