Just in case you aren’t following Love & Hisses on Facebook AND you haven’t noticed the sidebar, this happened last night:
Ruth and Ember were adopted together (I LOVE IT when that happens!), and Khaleesi went home with someone who had another cat at home. Now THAT is a good adoption night!

I love how it looks like Norbert (in the bag) totally doesn’t realize Stefan is RIGHT THERE.
I bet he knows Stefan is there now!
Norbie’s all “Holy cow! Where’d Stefan come from?!”
I cut the loops on the bag so no one would get the bag hung around their neck and race through the house with the bag following behind (not that that’s ever happened around here, of course!), and the kittens love to bite the ends that are sticking up from the bag. As illustrated by Norbie!
Norbie decided it was time to vacate the bag. I love how you can see his faint tabby swirls on his side.
Brandon and Hodor, holdin’ paws. Awwww.
Brandon wants to make sure everyone knows that he’s claimed the bag. “MINE.”
“Hodor!” says Hodor excitedly, spotting his shadow on the floor.
And then the Starks raced around like goobers.
Jon Snow, giving me the stinkeye.
Arya had a quick trip to the vet yesterday. Ever since her spay surgery, she’s had a bit of a cough. It seemed to be getting better as time passed by, but never went away, so I decided she should be seen, just in case. The verdict was that she’s in great shape, and the cough is probably caused by some lingering irritation from the intubation during her surgery. A short course of steroids will hopefully fix her right up.
She was a complete doll throughout the whole experience. I put her carrier in the back of the car (I have a hatchback) and put a towel over the top, and I didn’t hear a peep from her on the half-hour drive to the vet. When we were waiting to be seen, she meowed sweetly at me as if to say “Excuse me, you didn’t perhaps realize that I’m still in this carrier and I’d like you to hold me?” Once we were in the exam room, she sat in my arms and purred up a storm. The vet techs actually remembered her from her spay surgery, because she’s such a lovebug.
She purred the entire time we were there, even when they were taking her temperature. She is such a sweet girl!

Hi Robyn,
you probably know this, but cats do purr when they are stressed…
When our cat goes to the vet she purrs, so loudly the vet cannot hear het hartbeat. And with her I am sure it is from not wanting to be there. (it’s hard to get het out of the carrier π
Just wanted to share this.
Greetings, Gea
Yes, cats purr to self soothe.
I did know that! I guess I forgot to mention the kneading and rolling around she was doing, too. π
Yay for multi-adoption nights!
Definitely — my day is MADE!
Woohoo for the adoptions!
Jack got fixed yesterday, and when I went to pick him up, all the vet techs raved about his awesome personality and threatened to keep him. π
Jack’s are awesome.. I know, my Jack told me so..
I LOVE the name Jack. The only reason we don’t have a Jack of our own is because Fred’s stepfather is named Jack, and it might be a little weird to have a cat named Jack, too. π
GREAT news on the adoptions! So thrilled for them – and their new families!
I got this banner today: “Barrett, Sad Eyes, Smitty, and Little Cal” Adorable, but who the heck are they? I had to go look it up (instead of heading out to work). Barrett became Tom Cullen and Sad Eyes became Sugarbutt! Somehow I feel as though I’ve peered through the mists of time!
It still kills me that Sugarbutt’s first name was “Sad Eyes”!
I’m so happy Khaleesi was adopted and I hope she gets along with her new brother/sister!
I know I’ve said it a berjillion times but I’m gonna really miss Miss Embercakes. And when Norbiecakes goes I’ll be the saddest person ever. π
I love Brandon’s ears in the bag-claiming photo. He’s all “SO THERE!”
The Dragons and Starks hold a special place in my heart and I would love to scoop them all up for one last round of smoochies but I know I can rely on you to do it for me so that makes me feel a wee bit better. π
oh, Hooray for the adoptions, love it when they go together! so many pluses for adopting 2 at the same time…
Isn’t it funny how a simple toy has the most potential for fun?! Having seen the bag around the neck house flight (and howled before rescuing the terrified victim, sorry to say)I understood about the bag handles!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for gorgeous Khaleesi and little Ruth and Ember! Yay!!!
Take care
x
YEAH for adoptions (and dual adoptions – double YEAH!!)
once again….spend lots of money on cat toys – kittens entertained for hours with a bag. π
I’m so happy to hear about the adoptions!!! I imagine someone swooned when they saw Ember’s big ears and Ruth’s pretty coloring. And Khal’s adoption, sounds like they’re experienced cat people so i hope this one sticks.
YAY FOR ADOPTIONS!
And SO MUCH LAUGHTER on the bag thing. I’ve had a cat or two do that and you feel so bad for the cat because you know they’re terrified, the poor dears, but it’s sooo funny.
Ooh, this reminds me of a Spanky story I’m going to have to tell in Friday’s post!
YAY Ruth & Ember! YAY! Khaleesi!! (lets hope it sticks this time)
Oh Norbert.. you sure do know how to steal my heart and run off with it.
Jon Snow gives good stinkeye!! π
One of my parents catsgothis head stick in a bag handle and it was off to the races with three of us trying to catch him. I finally did and I thought his little heart was going to burst from beating so fast. The bag was in tatters.
Always so glad to hear when some of your fosters get adopted, especially the sweet mamma kitties that really deserve a loving home. A definite bright spot in an otherwise crappy day.
Congratulations Robyn.
Great news on the adoptions!!
I cut the bag handles, too. Once every few months we end up at a Trader Joe’s, and they LURVE their paper bag caves.
Yay, yay, yay for Ruth, Ember and their mommy Khaleesi! So happy!
This is tagged Miz Poo, but should be tagged Suggie π
You’re right! It’s fixed. Thanks for letting me know, it annoys me when I do that stuff and then don’t notice it ’til a year later (if ever!) π
