Just chillin’ (or, really, warming) in the tub.
Jon Snow ponders just why, exactly, the person who painted the bathroom six years ago (that would be me) allowed a dribble of paint to fall into the tub AND THEN has not since bothered to scrape it off the tub. (Answer: sheer laziness.)
A mass of happy kittens with full bellies.
“Hey guys, look! I gots poop between my toes! It’s a poopicure!”
“What? Sometimes I like to stomp through poop and smear it everywhere. Then the lady gives me a bath and I cry like a big baby. BECAUSE I AM A BABY. You gots a problem with that?”
These kittens are such little snugglebugs. Especially that Jon Snow.
Despite my plans, I didn’t get the Starks moved to the small foster room yesterday. It’s located at the other end of the hallway from the room where Khaleesi and the Dragons are, and I worried that Khaleesi – already not thrilled about being confined to the big foster room so she wouldn’t go after Jake again – would hear them and be concerned. I decided to wait ’til she’s gone to Petsmart, so tomorrow morning I’ll be moving those Starks.

This evening, Khaleesi will be going off to Petsmart. I will, of course, let you know as soon as she’s adopted!
Such a good Mama. (Ruth’s grumpy face in the background is cracking me UP. “WHAT is going on over there?!”)
“I’m going to miss this… NOT.”
A mother’s cleaning is never done.
Some last minute discipline… (You KNOW Puff deserved that!)
More cleaning.
“Mama! Stop! I’M CLEAN!”
Puff couldn’t stand it, and had to join in on the fun.
One last shot of the whole family.

Suggie in his house. They love this house SO much. It rained all weekend, and there was always someone hanging out in there, watching the rain. I’m thinking we need a whole row of them in the back yard, don’t you think?

I would love to try the liquid tincture. I have an 8 year old Joe Bob look alike who has been thinning out lately. He likes his food one week, then hates it for a week. Such a pain in the hiney.
I forwarded your email address to Laura, so you should be hearing from her! π
Yay! My 19 year old is still doing well thanks to the Liqui-trinic. I hope your Joe Bob will thrive as well, Traca!
I wanted to note that Joss & Main, one of those flash sale sites, has a cat-themed sale going on. They have quite a number of cat trees, a few litter box/bench combos, and bow ties (?!), among other things, for what appear to be good prices. They have a good reputation so they are safe to order from.
If anyone does end up ordering, you can get an invite link that gives the inviter some credit once someone orders. I’d be thrilled to be an inviter but really you could ask a friend. Or, Robyn could set up an account of her own and get the credits for a new cat condo!
Ooh, I’m going to go over and check it out right now! π
I bought the automatic pet feeder – I love this site and they have free (and quick) shipping most of the time! I will say that I bought the “Marbles” cat tree from here a couple of weeks ago, and though my cats love it, it’s VERY unstable and has fallen over when they jump on it. Right now I have it held down with another piece of furniture until I can figure out what to add to the base to make it stable. So some of the scratching posts aren’t as sturdy as I think they should be.
This is really a question for Oldcat. A friend of mine has a fiber CSA and has gotten two kittens to help offset her older barn cat’s duties. http://www.jacobsreward.com/2013/07/well-baby-kitty-visit/
The male Francis is white, blue eyes, tabby rings of orange on his tail, and almost flame points on ears and face. The first pic on the blog shows his back which is tabby/speckled/I don’t know what. You don’t see it much from the sides. What do call the markings on his back?
The other, Clare, is a black tuxie girl, more spider monkey than cat π
Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Those are some adorable babies!
OK one MAJOR problem with the design – after scrolling through and awwwww-ing over all the pictures (and even shedding a tear at the last shot of the whole family together) I then have to scroll ALL THE WAY BACK UP to the comments link now. This forces me to look at all the pictures again, see new things to awww about and overall get a double dose of kitten goodness for the day! π
Please give an extra snorgle to Khaleesi from me today – she’s one of the best mommas ever…and so beautiful. I hope her perfect family finds her right away!
Actually, if you look at the bottom, there’s a “comments” link next to the categories and tags. It doesn’t stand out, but it should be the last link in that row. I wouldn’t want you to sprain your scrolling finger. π
You know if you put a whole row of little houses up, they’d still all pick one to fight over.
SO true!!
The banners are a great idea. I keep getting the ‘Maters banner, and I love it — who is that doing the Halloween cat? Is it Caspian? Anyway, I adored Brandywine, and those babies were the cutest. I’m glad I get to see them every once in a while again!
Okay, do you ever have that feeling when you’re leafing through a clothing catalogue or looking at a display in a store that depicts the same shirt/sweater/whatever in all its pretty colors that if you buy one of the item, even though it’s pretty on its own, it’s not as pretty as the entire grouping? Like somehow the beauty of the individual is enhanced by the variety of the many? That’s how I feel about these litters of kittens. I could never choose just one — I’d need to have them all because they’re so gorgeous as groups. (Though Scorch and Ember are my faves today.)
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s Caspian. He was such a character. Well, really, they all were!
I know what you mean about the group together being prettier than the individuals – there’s something about Scorch’s cream color next to Puff’s gray next to Ember’s white-and-orange spots (and so on) that is really striking!
I think you should do a row of those cat houses in different colors. Could be like that row of houses in San Francisco that you always see. Or this row of beach bungalos at Brighton Beach in Melbourne Australia:http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=brighton+beach+melbourne+australia&FORM=HDRSC2#a
That would be so cool!! π
Or Rainbow Row in Charleston! π
Is it just me or are those Starks growing up really fast already?? What the heck, Robyn!
I’ll miss Khaleesi and her googly eyes, and I’ll be jealous of whoever (whomever?) gets the privilege of adopting her, but I will be SO happy when she goes to her forever home. She gave us the best batch of kittens EVAH!
I can’t believe how fast they’re growing either! They’re like mini cats now, it’s like you look away for one moment and POOF they’ve changed.
Paws crossed for a quick Khaleesi adoption!!!
We had a Scorch reference yesterday: http://randomfelines.blogspot.com/2013/07/what-heck-mom.html
But more importantly, you had skittering kittens! π LOVE THEM!
” Iβm thinking we need a whole row of them in the back yard, donβt you think?” …and the final phase of “Crooked Acres: Cat Farm” has begun. π
I’m with the other commenters: how the HECK are those Starks growing so quickly??? And also crossing paws for the gorgeous Khaleesi!!!
Whenever I see a photo of one of the cats in that house, all I can think of is black widow convention! How do you keep something like that free of them?
I spend inordinate amounts of time hunting for and disposing of them. I hate those things.
I check the house pretty regularly, and have almost never seen any spiders. I think that the spiders see the cats, and pack up their webs for friendlier (less furry!) places.
The first time this loaded there were no pictures-it’s my computer, not your nice new page I’m sure, Robyn. It’s OLD. Anyway I was all “OH no I made L&H the appetizer not the dessert so I don’t run out of time and no kitten pictures! Damn it Gumby, life is unfair.” But then I reloaded and got my kitty fix and now I am all happy again. Love the new page and Scorch is the first non Amber eyed buff I recall seeing. I love that big, gentle, sweet boy so much!!!! Don’t most buff tabbies have Amber eyes or am I just not very well informed in the genetics of buff kitties? Our first cat, Sylvester, our Sly Guy, was a buff tabby with amber/golden eyes. He was long haired too.
His eyes are still changing, so he may very well end up with amber eyes yet! I can’t say that I’ve actually noticed, but I think you’re right, the buffs do tend toward amber eyes. I imagine that Scorch will be off to Petsmart before his eyes are done changing, hopefully whoever adopts him will report back to us.
βPaws up, yβall!β – could also read “OK you can kiss the paw” π
I too like the idea of a little row of houses, all in different colors get on that oh lazy one who can’t even scrape paint out of a bathtub in six years.. π (says the woman who has a sewing project that is about to celebrate a birthday)
I think what you’re saying, Connie, is that we’re good at IDEAS, just not at implementing them. We need assistants! I started a cross-stitch picture for my sister’s birthday 15+ years ago, and haven’t touched it in a decade. (I suspect she’s not holding her breath waiting for it!)
I third the rainbow houses!
Yes, a whole row of multicolored kitty houses!
And I don’t think I’ve ever been more concerned about babies missing their mama as I am about Khaleesi leaving. I also worry about her missing her babies. I really know it’s all normal and that everyone will be fine, but part of me worries….
I know, I always worry, too. This is my least favorite part, the hours leading up to time to leave. π
Godspeed, Mother of Dragons — and may you find the ideal family soonest.
I like your new website!!
Thanks, Linda! π
We love the idea of a whole row of those houses, in different colors of course. May we ask where you find those houses? We’re thinking of adding one to our outside kitty area. Thanks in advance!
I’m not 100% positive, but I think I got it online at Overstock.com. This is the one we have, though they have different sizes. We stuff it with straw, and the cats love it.
Oh…I just noticed we can’t read the comments on past posts anymore. Was I the only geek who was reading the past comments, too? π
If you click on the link at the top of the post (the post title – which is usually the date), the comments will show up for you. I’m trying to figure out how to have the “comments” link show up at the bottom of the posts even though the comments are closed, but not having much luck. I think I’m going to have to break down and ask someone!
Yay!!! π
I am a geek and read past comments. Comments are great!!!
Wow, the difference between the appearance of the Starks vs the Dragons @ the same age is itnersting–the Starks, up until today (when they seem to ahve gone BINK! into little cats :D), have seemed to look a bit “younger” at the same ages than the Dragons did–is this just a trick of the photos; or is it due to Bottle Babies vs. Latched-On-24-Hours-A-Day-To-Poor-Mama ;)-Babies?
I think it’s just that different litters seem to age at different paces. Maybe? I’m not sure, that’s a good question! π
I’ll be sad to see Khaleesi go….if I could have three cats in my little DC condo, I’d come get her for my own!!!
My favorite thing about the new site design is that the icon for Love and Hisses on my toolbar is a teeny weeny picture of Stompy.
Isn’t that awesome? I’m so glad someone noticed it! π
I just noticed that too – so cute!
