I’m sure you remember Kohle, who was with us at the end of 2012, while we had the ‘Maters boys? His name is now Flynn, and I got an update (and pictures!) from Selena.

Just realized I haven’t sent a Flynn update with pictures in a while.

We went to the vet a couple of weeks ago for one shot and a nail trim. He is all good! Growing to be a BIG boy. He weighed 11.4 lbs. He is also very very long legged! These pictures really don’t do him justice at how big he is.


We were visiting my parents house and he made himself at home at my dad’s computer.


He has become good buddies with my parents older cat Booboo. He and their female cat, Dolly, do not get along – yet.


Stretched out for a nap with me on the couch. See how long??


This has become his new hiding place. He likes to nap under the bed instead of in it.


I took this picture this morning. He got really quiet and I couldn’t find him. This is my computer bag under my desk. He never stops making me laugh.

Hopefully, we will be able to bring home a buddy for him soon! He sure loves having someone to play with when we visit my parents house.

I so love seeing Kohle happy in his forever home! Thanks for the update, Selena. 🙂

“Toe-dor!”


“Well, I climbed down off the lady’s lap, and now I’m stuck here in this chasm between her leg and the side of the tub.”


“It appears I’m in quite the pickle.”


“Hodor?”


“Yep. Still trapped.”


This picture is just to show how the orange is starting to show up on the backs of Jon Snow’s ears. His tail, too!

In honor of Khaleesi’s spaying (I’ll be leaving here in a little while to pick her up), here are pictures of her being the awesome mama that she is.


The look on her face is killing me. But she has no one to blame but herself – she totally flopped down on her side and called to her babies.


All five managed to belly up for a few minutes.


Then Scorch was like “They keep TOUCHING me!”


Puff’s eyes are starting to turn gold-green in the center. I think he’ll end up with eyes the same color as Khaleesi’s.


“Busy here, lady. You go ‘way.”

To answer the questions in yesterday’s comments, I don’t believe any of the kittens will be retaining their blue eyes. They’re all starting to really change; I’ll try to get better pictures of how they look. I wish they could stay that gorgeous dark blue, though. (Although Fred can’t resist a blue-eyed cat, so maybe it’s better that they do change!)

A few weeks ago, Fred didn’t close the gate properly, and Jake was able to squeeze through (and immediately came over to the side stoop and right inside when I opened the door. Silly boy). Ever since, he keeps going over and trying to squeeze out the gate. And he’s SO puzzled when he’s unable to do it.


Puzzled and annoyed. SO annoyed.


I just know he’s mumbling obscenities under his breath as he stomps across the yard.


At least he can get some attention from Tommy while he stares, fuming, at that darn gate.

    When Khaleesi is back from the vet, will she go back in with her babies? Or will you keep them separated while she heals up?

    Love the look on Khaleesi’s face “holy heck – what was I thinking??”

    And what a great update on Flynn – love the sleeping UNDER the bed 🙂

  5. Personally, I think Khaleesi-green eyes on little grey Puff would be gorgeous, the grey-on-green look is quite cute!

    (…I do still have to wonder how Khaleesi would react to the little Starks, given her mothering of Norbert…But perhaps she might never forgive you if you pull out MORE surprise kittens! 😀 )

    1. The first day we had them, she DESPERATELY wanted in the bathroom when they were screaming, kept sticking her paws under the door and even tried to stick her nose under the door. After that, if she hears them screaming, she takes off in the other direction!

  6. I know there were only 5 kittens nursing from Kahleesi but the picture makes it look like 100. I can only imagine what she must have been thinking.

  7. I’ve only ever nursed one child at a time, I can’t imagine nursing 5! Love the mini panther that is Kohle/Flynn. Why do cats find the craziest places to sleep?

  10. I can’t picture Jake cursing for some reason. I imagine him as Jerry Lundegaard in “Fargo.” “Oh jeez. Oh darn.”

  11. I never thought to ask this before, but do mama cats still produce milk after being spayed? I’d imagine the dragons will still be pretty famished when Khaleesi comes back from the vet.

    Also, (if the answer to the above question is yes) do you think you can get any video of Khaleesi calling “dinner time!” to her babies? I think I’d pretty much keel over from cuteness-induced shock from seeing a bunch of kittens rush to get their turn at the milk bar.

    1. Spayed mamas do indeed continue to produce milk – as long as there are babies nursing, they’ll keep producing.

      I’ll try to get it on video, but she usually does it so quickly that I don’t get a chance to get the camera put on movie mode while she’s doing it.

  13. Thanks for posting Selena’s joyous update, Robyn — what a delightful kook that boy is! The burning question: How does Newt the Patoot descend from his lookout post? Another one: How did Khaleesi’s working vacation go? And did her brood fret about Her absence? House Stark are really growing up, aren’t they? Happy Fourth in advance, and may it be a quiet one for the kitties’ sake — and George and Gracie’s!

  14. This is a request for tips from all readers:

    I got a new cat a week and a half ago, he’s about 5 years old and he randomly makes this loud, repetitive noise, which is starting to really frustrate my husband, especially when he does it at 3am. Hubs thinks he does it when he wants canned food, because he’s seen Vincent do this in the kitchen, but I’ve seen him do it in many of our rooms. Just today, I’ve started to sneak up behind him and spray him with water when he does it. Is this a good idea? He sounds much like Tiggy does in this video: http://youtu.be/eV71mpbvl-g Somewhere, Tiggy’s owner has said that he seems to do this after eating, but I haven’t seen Vincent eat yet, except for licking some canned food dry. He just seems to do it at random. Almost like he’s lost in the house. But sometimes he does it after getting up from sitting next to us, and we haven’t moved! I’m hoping to find a way to get him to stop, as my hubs is getting pretty frustrated, and I was the one who coerced him into getting Vincent, our 7th cat! (What could I do? He’d been at the petsmart for MONTHS and months-no one wanted him because he’s ‘ugly’, his ears look like American curl/Scottish Fold gone wrong.)

    1. Yep, I’ve read it. I transferred all my feeds over to Feedly (and Old Reader – I think I prefer Feedly, but am not positive yet!), but neither of those readers have the blog widget. At least not yet – I suspect that the more time that goes by, the more widgets they’ll have available. It looks like I’ll be putting each link in a list – which might be a little tedious, but I’ll have more control over how each link is displayed, so it’s a decent trade off. I just have to force myself to sit down and DO it. 🙂
