I got word yesterday that Lilybet (aka Fake Mama) was adopted! She spent less than a week at Petsmart, which is pretty good. She went to a home with an 10 year-old cat and people to love and adore her – I suspect she will be a very happy and well-loved girl.

Warning: there are a LOT of wee pink kitty toes in this post.
Every time I step into that room, I have to forcibly restrain myself from squooshing those babies.
Remember how I said the other day that I thought the girl tuxie was going to be trouble? I’ve rethought my position. I think they’re ALL going to be trouble.
Faint stripes on that teeny tuxie leg.
At this point, I fainted dead away from the cute.
Oh, come on. Seriously? Are you TRYING to kill me?
That white line on girl tuxie’s face is getting fainter by the day. I hope it doesn’t disappear, it’s so convenient for telling her apart from her tuxie brudder!
Fred’s calling the babies “The Meatballs” because he says they’re as big around as they are long. Kate’s doing a good job keeping those babies well-fed, that’s for sure! I weighed them again yesterday, and I’ve started a chart for their weights at the bottom of this page. I don’t plan to weigh them every single day, but probably every other day or so.

Five kitties! Jake in the front, Tommy (wearing the blue “cape”), Miz Poo hanging out behind the pillows, Corbie in the cat bed, and – hard to see but still there – Alice atop the cat tree.
What used to be the guest bedroom (downstairs) is now my bedroom. What used to be my bedroom (upstairs, directly over the former guest bedroom, now my room) is now Fred’s room (yes, Fred and I sleep in separate rooms, no we’re not on the verge of divorce, we’ve done it for something like 12 years now and it works really well for us. EVERYONE should have their own room, especially light sleepers (Fred). I don’t exactly sleep alone – last night I slept with five cats on my bed. Luckily I’m not a light sleeper.)
What used to be Fred’s room is now a cat room/ extra foster room for when we have a second set of fosters. We don’t have guests very often, but when we do, they’ll sleep in my room and I’ll sleep in one of the foster rooms on a roll-out bed. The cats aren’t sure of what they think about all this moving around nonsense, but they DO know that they REALLY like having me in the guest bedroom. It’s always been the favorite room in the house because it’s the sunniest and the warmest (or coolest in the Summer), and now they have my bed to sleep on.
Corbie, especially, is SUPER excited about this turn of events. He climbs up on my bed several times a night and either squeaks his excited, squeaky meow in my face, or nibbles on my fingers, then he throws himself onto the floor and scampers out the door. He’s such a nut.

Oh, the toes!!! I love the toes and mittens, and I love seeing all the wee baby heads snuggled up against Mama Kate. Sigh… oh, it’s all so wonderful π
Thanks for the Saturday post, Robyn!!
P.S. I also love the “Kitterday” title for the post, and those wonderful permanent residents do indeed look very comfy. (Oh hi there, Miz Poo, you with your sweet face peeking out from behind the pillows!!)
Yayy! The first thing I did when I turned on the computer this morning was to look for a Special Edition of Love and Hisses. I was disappointed to find nothing and wondered if we were going to have to wait for Sunday to get the promised extra installment. So happy to see this! I’ve been loving every single pic and every single video and every single caption too! I can’t believe that even though I have the FosterKittenCam up all the time (http://new.livestream.com/FosterKittenCam/TheCosmoFosters), I’m still wanting more of the Royal Kittens too. I guess there’s just no such thing as too much kitten!
I’m also a fan of the kittencam!
The toes and the faces! And the WEIGHTS!!! Is Madam Kate keeping herself well-fed? I mean, those babies are growing by leaps and bounds! π
She seems to be eating plenty – I offer her canned food several times a day and she has kibble available to her all the time, and she takes advantage of it. She’s much smaller than she was, that’s for sure. π
Awwww, such a good Mama, Kate, keeping those babies well fed and healthy! You are a beautiful girl! Oh, the pink toeses and noses and mouf(ses?) are just melting me into a pile of happy goo. I want to squeeze them and kiss their little heads and I’m not even there in person. How do you even restrain yourself Robyn, when you’re 2 feet away from all those little furry babies?!?
Hey, after being married 25 years, I think separate bedrooms – especially if one of you is a sleep flailer or snorer and the other a light sleeper – KEEP you from getting a divorce or worse, committing homicide. When I was first married and very young, I thought that if one of us slept in a separate bedroom, the marriage would be OVER! Well…..I got over that notion in a big hurry, after many sleepless nights with Mr. Snorey-head. Separate bedrooms have nothing to do with intimacy (or lack of it) in a marriage. There is no force field on each bedroom door that you cannot cross to be in the same bed for talking or snuggling or watching TV together or *bown-chicka-wow-wow* time. You just go to separate beds when you’re ready to sleep.
PS I also luf Miz Poo’s sweet little face peeking over the pillows. And congrats to Lilybet! I’m so happy you got your new home with people to adore you!
I agree about the sleeping in separate beds. No less love of each other just comfort for the individuals. Our dog rooted me out so many times I just made it permanent. I love Miz Poo peeking over the pillows and the pink tosies are to die for. So glad the pseudo pregnant girl got a furever home.
*bown-chicka-wow-wow* time
I think I’m going to be giggling for an hour over this one
We always lay in bed and talk for half an hour or so before Fred goes off to his own bed and I read or surf the internet or watch TV. So we’ve got the bonding time (*bown-chicka-wow-wow* time, LOL!) and then he doesn’t have to put up with me tossing and turning, and I don’t have to put up with his snoring. π
They are all so adorable! And I hope Miss Tuxie doesn’t lose that little white stripe completely – it’s so cute!
I love the way your “new” bedroom is painted. I am in the “thinking about painting” stage, and I’m going to pin your room so I remember it later. Of course, all my friends will be sure it’s because of the cats!
That room has actually been that color since 2007. I was gone for a few days visiting my parents, and Fred (who has chosen all the paint colors for the house, because he’s got an eye for it and I totally do NOT) chose the colors and painted the room to surprise me. I was going to repaint before I moved back into the room last week, but I like it so much that all I ended up doing was a little touch up painting. Still love it! π
Fred’s a keeper, isn’t he? π
Kate has definitely lost that shellshocked look she had at first, and now appears to be enjoying motherhood.
Pink toesies, yay!
She really is relaxing into her role of mama. She seems to have a timer in her head where if she’s been out of the bed for a certain amount of time, back in she goes. She doesn’t like to spend much time too far from them, though Fred got her to play for a few minutes last night.

What makes a marriage work is doing things which make your marriage work. Personally, I flail in my sleep and it’s not something I can control, even with medication. There is absolutely no need for it to disturb someone else’s sleep! Rock on, Robyn and Fred!
As for the Meatballs – sorry, the Royal Meatballs – I thought they were growing while we watched. That weight chart confirms it. They’re growing as fast as your Cornish Cross chicks!
I hope all continues to go well with them and am happy Lilybet found her home. Now, it’s Batman and Robin’s turn. Come on, people of Alabama! They’re great cats!! Give ’em a home!! Or two homes!!
I wish someone would adopt those two, and soon!!!
Hmmmmm…. their adoption on the same day I wrote this comment makes me think I should write comments about all the cats waiting for adoption! After all, there’s no thinking like magical thinking!!
I really, really, really, really hope Lilybet finds a person who understands bitey kitties and knows what to do to help them stop biting… or at least tone it down to a dull roar! C’mon people of Alabama! She’s a great cat!!!!!
π
TOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the sleeping in separate beds… As a military wife whose husband is gone more often than he is here, I sleep much better when I am in the bed alone (*get your minds out of the gutter!!*). Between the heavy breathing and the snoring and his blanket stealing and his sudden desire to sleep diagonally across the bed, I GET IT (and I’m a heavier sleeper)! If we ever live together full time again, I’m at least getting a king sized bed out of it. As it is, I run a fan to block out most of the noise.
Ruby likes it if I end up sleeping on the sofa when he’s home. The big cats don’t follow me out there so she gets her mama all to herself π
So happy that Lilybet has found her new home – I trust she will be appropriately spoiled rotten!
Good work, Mama Kate – those kittens are growing so well! And the pink toesies – oh my goodness!
Thanks for the extra effort in posting today, Robyn – this makes my weekend!
Yay for Lilybet!
Oh my gosh, those toes! So many pink baby toes! Admit it, you posted all of those because it sounds like fireworks when all the heads across the country start exploding from the cute!
So you get about half a dozen cats to sleep with. Do any of them sleep with Fred?
No, Fred sleeps with his door closed because he’s such a light sleeper that if he’s woken up, he has a hard time getting back to sleep. Though last night he didn’t close his door all the way, and woke up in the middle of the night with Kara sitting there staring at him. LOL!
Was Fred happy that Sheriff Kara was on night duty? π
I love the little upturned foot in βI vant to be alone.β
I am a big fan of Kitterday. I will also be a big fan of Kittunday tomorrow HINT HINT. (c:
I think Andrea’s on to something – I swear I could feel pressure building up in my head, and actually had to turn away from the screen for a moment or two at the picture of the little tabby face resting on the edge of the bed, and I found myself gritting my teeth several times as an effect of the cute. (I told a friend yesterday, “I’m an animal lover, I’m not a cruel person, but I just don’t think I could be in the same room as newborn baby kittens without running a huge risk of just SQUEEZING!!! them to death.” She said, “Well, whenever I see a baby ANYTHING I want to bite it, so.” LOL)
Sometimes I want to nibble on their ears and lick their little pink toes. I imagine they’d taste like sugar. They’d have to, right?
And I should add – I am forever biting my tongue so that I don’t squeeze them. Times like now, when we’ve got the itty bitties, my tongue is always sore. π
I “squeeze” my Sweetpea all the time… I just tighten my arm muscles and say, “Squeeeeeeeeeze!” into her fur without actually squeezing her. Often, I follow up with the question, “Do you know you just got squeezed?”*
It works, although I’d caution against using the technique on a newborn Royal Meatball… Kate might get upset!!
*Why yes, I am a crazy cat lady. Why do you ask?
6th pic from the top: THE WHITE BELLEH!!!!!!
Yay for Lilybet!
Every single photo is cuter than the previous one! I know it’s going to be a little tough telling them apart, but I love how all I can see is a jumble of kittens and can’t tell if I’m seeing 2 or 5! This page of wee babies is coming a great time for me, as these are the only babies I can handle right now (for opposite reasons of “hating” human babies).
And Kate needs a squeeze!! I love the fluff.
So glad that Kate is enjoying motherhood — and hip, hip, hooray for Batman and Robin and for their new family/families. But I’d also like to add that news of Corbie’s glee at the room rearrangement is equally delightful!
I’m going to be one of the many commenters expressing their delight over Miz Poo’s tortie face as she surveys the bedsheets. So adorable!
Also, I LURBES those little kittens! Hopefully we’ll get to see more video of the little monkeys soon.
