Alley Oop looks in the mirror…
And says “How are you in THERE and in HERE at the same time?!”
“‘Scuse me, tryin’ to sleep here,” says Posty.
Alley Oop and Andi pretend they weren’t just gossiping about me.
Alley Oop starting something with Spiral.
Paper Clip picked up that yellow spring and partially floofed her tail so everyone would know that it is HER spring and she’s NOT SHARING.
A couple of days ago, the kittens were switched to another medication since it didn’t seem that they were going to get any better on what they were on (still lots of sneezing and snuffling, and it had been almost 2 weeks.) Within 2 doses, it was clear that we’d found the right medicine for them – they look (and sound) SO much better.
Let me take a moment here to point out that despite sharing a room with a bunch of sick, sneezing, snuffling kittens, Andi didn’t get sick. So if you’re looking for a kitten who is ADORABLE and also apparently has an amazing immune system, she’s your girl.

Surprise! Say hello to…
Our new fosters! Would you like to meet them? You know you would!
This is mama Sodapop, a medium-hair orange and white girl who is nervous but also VERY sweet. She is about 2 years old.
Her opinionated daughter Poppi. (Purple mark on her left ear so I know who’s who.) She looks white here, but going by her mother and siblings’ colors, I expect to see a cream or flame point. We’ve gotta wait for her colors to develop. Might she turn out to be white? Could be! We’ll see.
Her son Fanta. Also looks white, might be a cream or flame point.
And lastly but not leastly, her orange and white son Sundrop.
The kittens are 3 days old (born February 2nd.) The story is that she showed up in an area where cats and dogs are often dumped. She was literally eating garbage, and the kind lady who found her said “I just couldn’t leave her there.” She followed the kind lady home and walked right into the house.
Since she’s orange and white, they assumed that she was a boy (I love this so much) and named her Sodapop. I think they assumed Sodapop was getting larger because she was being fed regularly. She’d been with them a few weeks when – surprise! – there were suddenly kittens. They reached out to Forgotten Felines, Brittany sent me pictures, and I just could not stop thinking about this sweet little family. After some negotiation with Fred, I brought her home Monday afternoon.
They’re in the office off of my bedroom, where they’ll be until the foster room is empty. So far she is fine with us handling her kittens (we’ve gotten a few warning growls, but as long as I move slow and keep up a stream of incessant talking, she’s okay.) She stays in the crate most of the time, though she comes out to eat, use the litter box, and there have been a few trips around the room to sniff everything.
I’m calling the litter “the Pops” as a whole. I was going to change Sodapop’s name, but the more I sat with it, the more I liked it, so I kept it and went with a soda naming theme for the kittens.

Khal is complaining about the fact that the air is warm but the cement is cold and he wants EVERYTHING to be warm. I’ll get right on that, Khal.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
Just chillin’ with Paper Clip.
Andi isn’t super vocal (certainly not like Tina!), but when she’s got somethin’ to say, she’s got somethin’ to say, and she is ADORABLE.

I gave the kittens a silvervine stick, and they are so very high. I’d say they’re fans!
Stapler’s all “Watchin’ you, lady. Watchin’. YOU.”

Paper Clip and Stapler show off their basketball skills. Nicely done, girls!
Alley Oop gets some petting. ❤

New kittennnssss!!! Poor Sodapop, but I’m glad a lovely person found her and she’s now warm and safe and eating good food! And her babies will go to loving homes. You’ve got quite the full house now, hope they all take it easy on you and arelow maintainance kittens every one!
Unless they have some sign of points already, my money’s on actually white kittens.
If they’re colourpoint, then Poppi would have to be secretly a tortie point (possible since so little of her colour would show yet), or she has a different father to her sister (which makes 2 colourpoints in the litter less likely), or she’s actually a boy (possible at this age).
Whereas if they’re white, they just need to have a white father who’s not genetically ginger under the hood, and this is exactly the distribution you’d predict.
Hello Sodapop!
Very pretty and pretty content with her fortunate turn up for the books. And very welcome to her babbas Xx
Great news on the other gang, they’re a very happy bunch.
Happy February and looking forward to seeing all the growing and progress.
Can we say THANK YOU FRED! 🙂
They are going to be beautifulllllll…
This post gave me the warm fuzzies. Yay! for a meds switch doing the trick for the Foundlings – sneezies be gone! – and yay! and also *melts* for the new fosters. Bless that kind lady for days and days, truly. 😀
Hmm, Sodapop and the Bottlecaps?
“After some negotiation with Fred” — LOVE this 🙂
Welcome to the sweet new family; so glad they’re safe and warm and inside.
Three cheers for the Foundlings getting better finally! And yes, an impressive feat by Andi to avoid all that respiratory nonsense.
Was the woman who found Sodapop intending to keep her before she had the surprise kittens?
