I hope you’re all having a wonderful (relaxing!), happy day. I cut and paste the following every year because although they are recycled words, they hold 100% true:
You guys are the best, and I appreciate you so very much. Thank you for coming back here to read and comment or lurk – and for some of you (so many of you!) for adopting kittens from us. It’s been a great, kind of crazy, and sometimes downright awful year, and I hope 2025 is a little calmer and a lot safer, with no losses for any of us.
I’d most likely keep this blog going even if no one was reading – I don’t know that I’d ever be able to remember when certain events happened without this handy blog to serve as my diary to be honest – but you guys make it so much better, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Festivus – whatever holiday you celebrate (or don’t) I hope you are warm, happy, safe, healthy, and well-fed.

This year’s cover kitty for the Love & Hisses holiday card was…
Inside: Charlie wishes you a fantastic holiday season, and a warm and wonderful 2025.
(You can see the previous years’ Love & Hisses holiday cards by clicking on the link for 2023’s post.)
The holiday cards I’ve received so far are below (or see them at Flickr here.) These are the cards I’ve received as of yesterday morning – I know there are more on the way, and I’ll scan and post them when they arrive. (PS: You guys send the BEST cards – thank you!!)

Tina the wreath kitty. (If you think there was a LOT of Churu involved in these pictures, you are SO right.)
Richie (left) and Carmy were distracted by the toys.
A little look behind the magic – if you’ve ever wondered how I get these wreath pictures, this is what it looks like. A moving box (size medium) with a hole cut out of the front, a piece of white posterboard wired to the front, and the wreath wired to the front of that. It’s all very precarious and I’m amazed any pictures ever come out.
And Richie said “I’m outta here!”
Tina in an adorable Santa dress.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
Carmy’s not sure what kind of meals he’s going to be able to whip up with a green bean, a packet of ketchup and a couple of mice, but the truck is open so come on down!
8 years ago (!) we fostered this cutie pie, whose name was Chesnee. She’s now Felicity and Audra reports that she’s a TOTAL mama’s girl – she likes to wrap herself around Audra’s neck while she works and just stays there. How absolutely ADORABLE. (Thanks Audra!)

Everyone’s feeling kind of sassy today – Carmy jumping on Richie, Richie chasing after his mama, Carmy trying to start something with Tina. Something for everyone!

I gave Tina a new packing strap and she is LOVING it.

Robyn, wishing you and Fred a Merry Christmas and happy, healthy New Year! Blessings to everyone – including all the permanent animal residents as well as Tina, Carmy and Richie.
You don’t realize how important your daily posts and photos mean to me. I had a stroke in mid-August and everything that you share makes my day. Thank you for everything you have done over the years for all the kittens under your care. You are a true angel, an angel with a fantastic sense of humor. Oh, please thank Charlie for the sweet Christmas card. Here’s to a safe, sane 2025
Warmly,

Thanks to the person who sent The Little Drummer Boy and his cuteness. There were many favorites but this one really made me laugh and so was #1.
Thanks Robyn for all the energy and caring you put in to the blog.
Do you have any suggestions for traveling long distance with a cat? I’m talking about 15+hours on one leg of the flight and 5-6 on another, from Thailand to Portland, Oregon. My cat is very vocal, especially in a carrier, and I am worried about the noise she may make if she travels under my seat, but people say traveling in the pet area in the cargo hold is dangerous. What have you heard? Also do you have recommendations on carriers? I’m supposed to provide food and water containers attached securely to the carrier. Thanks for all your help. I look at your blog every day and enjoy it very much, although I am one of the “lurkers”. Mary
