If you follow Love & Hisses on Facebook,Twitter/Instagram or Tumblr, sorry about your timeline. Every hour – starting this morning at 12:01 am Central Time – a Halloween picture of a kitten in costume/hat from years past and present has been/will be posted. (Don’t worry, I didn’t miss out on any sleep for this – everything is scheduled and will post automatically.)
If you don’t do social media, don’t worry – you’ll see everything in tomorrow’s post!

Happy Halloween from Sydney, who saw a bird flit by the bird feeder and it startled her.
In addition to the Churu she shares with her kittens in the evening, Tina also gets her very own Churu earlier in the day when the kids aren’t around.
“What doin’ out there, lady?” wonders Jeff.
Sydney shows off her claw-sharpening skills.
Carmy looks like he’s really hitting the high notes.
Hanging from the top of the jungle cube are these dangly pieces of fabric, and I don’t know that Sydney had noticed them before now.
Tina’s in the weansie and she’s not loving it.
She’s getting used to it (I don’t know that the kittens have even noticed it.)
Would we call this a weansie loaf? (Whatever it is, it’s my favorite.)
I put the weansie – weaning onesie – on Tina starting late last week. She only has to wear it while the kittens are in with her, so I’ve been returning them to the foster room later and later. I don’t love putting it on her any more than she loves wearing it, but it’s time. Either she’ll get adopted (in which case I would prefer to have her milk dried up before she went home) or she’ll go to Petsmart, and I don’t want the volunteers to have to deal with potential mastitis, so I’d rather her milk was dried up before then.
(There have, by the way, been no inquiries about her at all.)

I asked Khal if he wanted to meet the kittens and he was all “No thank you.”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Breakfast is served! (From top right, going clockwise: Carmy, Richie, Jeff and Sydney.)
(Tina gets her own plate of food up on the counter that she doesn’t have to share.)
Only the finest Churu for Queen Tina. (Who is available for adoption. Read her description below and email info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.)
Tina (DOB 8/14/23) came to us from Huntsville Animal Services. Along with her came her three tiny kittens, Sydney, Richie and Jeff. We had a kitten, Carmy, who had tragically lost his mother and needed a mother and siblings; Tina and her kittens fit the bill. Tina didn’t hesitate to take on Carmy and care for him as one of her own. She did a wonderful job with him – with them all – and now it’s time for her to find her forever home where SHE can be the baby!
Tina is a very sweet, friendly, playful and talkative girl. She is tiny at just over 6 1/2 pounds, but is loaded with personality. (She is very small-framed, so it’s likely she’ll stay small.) She’s got opinions and isn’t afraid to share them. She tends to be more talkative in new situations and quieter once she’s more comfortable, but if she wants something she is more than happy to let you know about it. She’s super playful, enjoys jumping and running and chasing ping pong balls. She loves to bat spring toys around and she looooves catnip toys. She likes to be picked up and held on your shoulder and petted, she likes to sit next to you or in your lap and be petted, and… well, she just likes to be petted! She enjoys watching birds out the window, sitting in the sun, and keeping you company. She would be okay as an only cat, or – if introduced properly and very slowly – would likely be fine joining a home with another cat or cats. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and ID chipped, and is ready to go now.
We are located in Huntsville, Alabama; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption since Tina refuses to use her turn signal and keeps getting tickets.
Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at INFO (at) FFHSV.ORG to inquire!

Sydney and Jeff have a tussle; Carmy sees himself in the mirror and then goes boinging across the room.
Jeff, Sydney and Richie are 10 weeks old (and Carmy is 10 1/2 weeks old.) Not much of a change from last week, but here ya go anyway.
Weight-wise, they’re doing great:
Carmy: 3.06 lb/1.39 KG
Richie: 2.88 lb/1.29 KG
Jeff: 2.63 lb/1.18 KG
Sydney: 2.44 lb/1.10 KG
(You can always see their weight spreadsheet here, if you’re interested. It’s linked from the bottom of their page, which you can get to in the sidebar.)

Post-Churu confusion: They know about getting up on the desk to have their Churu, but they haven’t yet learned that “all gone!” means there’s no more. So while I wander off to toss the empty tube away, they tend to just stay on the desk and wait (probably hoping for more Churu.)
Ooh, a Sydney pie. (My favorite!)
Good night innernets. (Richie, who has perfected the “lights on, no one home” look.)

I know you hear this a gazillion times, but I’d take Tina in a heartbeat but I’m just too far away (NY). Also, my queen has had enough of my “rescues”, and shares her displeasure all over my house, in case I didn’t get the message in other ways.
I love black cats and had 4 of 10 at one point in my catting career. I still have one, which my queen loathes (if she could be in a 1 cat household [her alone], I think that would make her happiest). I hope Tina’s people come along sooner than later.
I hope so too! (And I agree, black cats are amazing.)
Where are Tina’s people?!? Perhaps she will cast her spell on them today!
And Happy Anniversary Robyn and Fred!
Thanks!
I suppose the lack of interest in Tina might be the “black cat syndrome” which is just so awful, since black cats are just as beautiful and loving and sweet as any other cat. I live too far away to come and adopt her, but I encourage someone to take this beauty home. Here’s hoping it is soon.
It could be, but it could also be that adoptions just tend to be slow this time of year with the holidays approaching.
Happy Anniversary! (I think)
Happy Anniversary!!!
I hope Tina’s peoples step up soon!! She is so pretty and seems like a lovey sweetheart.
I love black cats, my Bellamy is a little black house panther. Their faces crack me up, so serious looking, but they are mischievous goofballs.
