In case you missed the news over the weekend…
Pita was adopted and went home on Saturday! I was sad and thrilled to see her leave – she’s gone to a wonderful home where she will be very much loved, and I am INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL to her adopters, who were so patient while waiting for her to be ready to go home.
She’s now a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, and has two kitty siblings named Emery and Ash to play with. And her name is now Pika!
I will pass along any updates I get, of course.
The rest of the pictures I took of her while she was with us are in this post.
I’m not sure whether she wanted to join Skip in that comfy bed, or give him the ol’ slapperoo.
Assuming control of Alice’s bed.
“I SAID ‘No bitey uncles’ and I MEAN ‘No bitey uncles’!”
Facing off with Dillydally. (I thought there was going to be a tussle, but they ultimately each went their own way.)
Pita on the couch, the Hopalongs on the floor. (Yes, there was a feather teaser involved.)
The big cheese (aka Meander) visited Uncle Shrimpy’s, and Pita was yelling for the employees to come do their jobs.
This is the only time I caught evidence of her snuggling with the kittens. I did see her with Dillydally (in the same spot) later, but I think she preferred to tussle with them rather than snuggle.
Hanging out on the fancy sofa.
In the heart-shaped basket, telling me about it.
An outtake from when I was trying to get the “adopted!” photo. (I ultimately used the one with her sitting up nice and straight with those amazing ears on display.)
Such an excellent poser, this girl.

Newt says “Bitey uncle, reporting for duty.” I guess that cave needs a new name.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
Meander is still available for adoption. Read her description (below) and email Forgotten Felines at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
We are located in the Huntsville, Alabama area; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption, as Meander has turned out to be the sort of driver who argues with the GPS.
MEANDER (DOB 10/14/22) showed up on someone’s property, heavily pregnant and needing rescue. She came to Forgotten Felines and went into foster in mid-April, and gave birth to 6 kittens just three days later. She’s taken wonderful care of her kittens, and now that they’re older, it’s time for her to find her forever home where she gets to be the baby.
Meander can be a little wary at first – we imagine she’s been through a lot in her short life, but after some initial wariness, she warms up, and she loves to be petted. We think she was clipped by a car at some point before she came into rescue – she has a very slight head tilt. It doesn’t affect her in any way: her balance is great, she can jump up and down, she just looks a little bit quizzical from time to time like she’s questioning what you’re doing and why. In her foster home she hasn’t played much, though that’s not unusual when a cat has been busy raising kittens – she may very well turn out to be playful in the future. She is definitely interested in catnip! Currently, she mostly prefers to just hang out, be sweet, watch the birds out the window, and be petted. She was recently introduced to an older kitten in her foster home, and her reaction was a desire to be friends, so we are sure she would be great in a multi-cat house. She has not been around dogs, but would likely be fine with nice dogs as well.
Please email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
Former foster update! Remember floofy polydactyl tortie Zelda (now Ruby) and her calico sister Myrtle (now Opal) from the Crate Catsby litter early in 2023? They were adopted together and are now residents of Illinois – and here they are!
Maureen says: Happy Summer Solstice!
The Gotcha-versary for Ruby & Opal occurred a little while ago, and I wanted to let you know how things are going for the girls here west of Chicago.
They both have become best buddies with their “brother”, Boo, our 14 year old Havanese. When he has coughing issues they will come along side of him and “hug” him with their tails. He also is allowed to bathe them and make their faces quite wet.
Both girls are fine with nail trims and grooming. I’m so glad that I handled their paws a lot as kittens, especially Ruby being a polydactyl.
They have plenty of playtime and toys and love to sit on their cat tree facing out to a garden with rabbits, chipmunks, birds & squirrels romping about. In the backyard, they enjoy peering at the birdbath.
Neither of them are especially fond of the grandkids when they visit, so they hide, and I respect that. They are very good at the game of hide and seek and are rarely found!
Here are some pictures over the past few months that I hope you enjoy.
I can’t thank you enough for allowing me the honor of being the girls “mom”. They are such a blessing to not only me, but also my husband, Tom and especially, Boo!
Aren’t they beautiful? Ruby’s tail is AMAZING – Maureen said that Ruby wraps it around Boo’s head sometimes so he looks like he’s wearing a parka🥰 TOO cute!
(Thanks Maureen!)

Inquiring minds wanna know: who’s Da BAYbee? Is it YOU? (Bolt is not in this video; she must have been curled up somewhere asleep and I totally overlooked her. Maybe SHE is Da BAYbee.)
Lollygag is making sure Mosey stays clean, and Mosey says “A LITTLE HELP HERE, LADY?!”

That Toastycat bed travels all OVER the room, and Lollygag isn’t using it correctly (but does she care? She does not.)
I picked up Pita and flopped her onto her back like a baby, and she in turn half sat up, grabbed her back leg, and vigorously cleaned it. Have I mentioned that this girl cracks me up? She certainly does.

The manager doesn’t really get along with the other employees at Chef Shrimpy’s, but there’s no call for VIOLENCE.

I’m tossing toys, and Pita and the Hopalong kittens (but mostly Pita) are having a blast. (The last section is muted because there was music playing and I didn’t want to subject anyone to my terrible singing and also didn’t want to get a copyright strike.)

I don’t know if the Hopalong kittens are going to miss Pita all that much – but she certainly keeps them on their toes, so I’m going to miss seeing the interactions between them!
Hooray, hooray, Pita was adopted today! She’s headed to a wonderful home in the Louisville, Kentucky area, where she joins 2 gorgeous feline siblings, Emery & Ash. Her new name is Pika, and I think it’s perfect. Happy life, sweet girl!! ❤️ 🎉
(PS: Pita climbed right into the carrier, came out for a moment, and then climbed right back in, as if to say “Let’s get this show on the road!” I guess she was ready for her Happy Ever After to start, too!)
Skip was worried I was going to grab and kiss him. (That was my plan!)
Good night innernets. (Mosey, Skip, Skitter & Bolt)
I feel certain there are some shenanigans in Skitter’s near future.
Skip, Lollygag and Mosey are keeping an eye on me.

Pita was adopted yesterday and went home to Louisville, Kentucky. ❤ (She is now named Pika.) Here’s her “from hello to adoption” video of my favorite pictures of her from the day she was born (February 5th) to the day she went home. That girl was adorably sassy from day one!
(PS: I realized, as I was putting this video together, that I never made one for mama Crumpet, who was adopted in mid-May. I will put one together soon!)
Mosey’s about to start something, and Lollygag is just admiring how soft the rug is.
Good night innernets. (Lollygag)
