Pita leaps.
Mid air, and what excellent form…
(This series of pictures courtesy of the fact that I remembered I actually have a camera, and it takes much faster pictures than my phone does.)

I rolled a toy across the floor to get Skip’s attention, and – to all our surprise – Meander went after it. Which startled Skip, who immediately donned his floof suit.
That look on Bolt’s face as she looks up at Pita is just killing me.
Pita’s all “You lookin’ at me?”
“NO.”
Pita says “I’m playing with my mylar ball. You need somethin’?”
“Ah, my old nemesis Mister Frog. We meet again!”
Keeping an eye on the little ones from above.
Pita’s all “Oh, you get breakfast, too? Don’t mind if I do!” She looks about as long as Meander, here. She’s definitely hit her long and lanky stage – one of her 748 nicknames is “Slim.”
Skitter says “I AIN’T SKEERED OF YOU MISS PITA! I WAS JUST MAKING SURE MY FLOOF SUIT STILL FITS!”

In case you missed it, Tala, Lira and Franc went to their new foster home on Friday. They’re going to an experienced foster whose face lit up when she saw Tala’s gorgeous face. I know they’ll be well cared-for, and I am very glad to have my bathroom back!

Carson’s hanging out under the dresser with the dust bunnies.
Fred’s been letting Carson roam around the house during the day, once Charlie is curled up in his big soft bed. Carson is – I know I keep saying this, and it is so true – the chillest, sweetest boy. We were both delighted to see him chase after the laser light a few times, and he has shown a strong affinity for catnip toys (so I will be sure to send catnip toys home with him!)
A few people have asked how Fred feels about having so many fosters at once, and I can tell you – neither of us likes it. It would be one thing if all of them had been in the same room together, but to have the Hopalongs in the foster room, Tala and the Coins in my bathroom, Carson in the dining room, and Pita racing around the house drove me crazy because I felt like none of them were getting enough attention. I’d be in the foster room feeling guilty about not being in the bathroom with Tala, in the bathroom with Tala feeling guilty about not paying enough attention to Carson, and so on. I know there are fosters out there with far more foster cats/kittens in residence, and they handle it well, but that’s just not me. I’m lucky that Carson was pretty much Fred’s project, and he gave him plenty of attention (and also: Carson is the chillest dude who just likes to hang out with you; he is not the slightest bit needy). Having Tala go to another foster and Carson adoption pending is helping a lot.

Newt, for the record, does NOT like Carson and in fact will try to pick fights with him. On the one hand, I’m like “REALLY? Newt? Who never has an opinion on anything other than whether it’s time to eat hates the chillest cat in the world?” On the other hand, I’m kind of impressed that the old guy’s still got some fight left in him!

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
They’re still fitting through the tunnel scratcher just fine, but I’ll probably remove it from the room in the next week or so. I’ve never had a kitten get stuck in the scratcher, and I’d rather it not happen with these guys either!
Top: Dillydally. Bottom left: Lollygag. Right: Bolt.
In case you missed it on the blog this morning, Pita (who was originally supposed to go home Sunday) will be with us a bit longer. Something’s going on with her health-wise, and we need to figure it out. Yes, I am being intentionally vague – once we know what her diagnosis is, I’ll fill you in. Until then, just know that whatever it is, it isn’t life-threatening to her, and it isn’t transmittable to others. She’s a perfectly normal kitten – eating, playing, snuggling – there’s just this one weird thing going on, and we need to find out why before we send her home.

Skip discovered this mylar ball, and finds it rather fascinating.
Mosey, posing in the pink Adirondack chair, caught sight of the ceiling fan for the first time. It was a life-changing experience, to say the least.
Tala and her kittens Franc (left) and Lira are outta here! (Gotta admit, I’m glad to have my bathroom back.) Another foster mom came and got them early this afternoon, and I know she will take excellent care of them. (I will let y’all know if I hear how they’re doing.)
Good night innernets. (Dillydally, Mosey & Skip)
Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Pita) From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.

Skitter does a sneak (or tries to), and Skip has a mouse that he is NOT sharing.
Skitter says “Um, Miss Pita, that’s not your breakfast.”
“IT IS NOW, KID.”

I give Pita her Churu every evening at 6, and you better believe she can tell time!
Regarding Pita: She is doing fine. I’m not kidding when I say that she’s playing/eating/snuggling and acting completely normal. It’s just this one weird thing that’s going on that we need to figure out the reason behind.
As always when specialists are involved, things tend to move slower. She’s got an appointment Friday afternoon (the soonest we could make it happen), and hopefully will have more of an idea of what’s going on after that. When I know more, I’ll let y’all know. ‘Til then, you really don’t have to worry about her; she’s doing great.
Bolt is turning into QUITE the little poser. (That’s Lollygag below, sharpening her claws.)
Good night innernets. (Skitter and Bolt on the left tree; Lollygag, Dillydally and Mosey on the right tree. Where’s Skip? I dunno. Harassing his mama or using the litter box or wandering around another dimension.)
Good morning, the milk bar is open very briefly, and it’s CROWDED. Dillydally’s little leg draped over Skitter is just the CUTEST. (Patrons, from left: Mosey, Skitter, Dillydally, Bolt, Skip and Lollygag.)

Hanging out in the foster room with Pita and the Hopalong Gang. They’re getting more comfortable with her!
The smile on Pita’s face cracks me up. (When she “smiles” like this, I call her “Smilin’ Pete.”)

Pita’s playing with the Hopalong kittens.
We’ve been giving Carson a little more room to roam (with supervision) the last couple of days and although we’ve never once fed him in the kitchen, when either of us steps foot anywhere near that room, he is at our feet, eyes wide and hopeful.

Love all the Pita flying pictures and the Pita plus Hopalongs pictures.
All beautiful, all fabulous. Xxx
Thank you
Just wanted to let you know, Robyn, how much I enjoy your running commentary as if the kitties are speaking to each other.Your sense of humor matches mine, I do so appreciate you!!
Ditto — the captions are always so apt and funny!
Aww, thanks! 🙂
I would love to see Pita and Dillydally, Skip, Skitter, Mosey, Bolt and Lollygag play together and be good friends before Pita goes home. Love them all xx
Meander: Walk this way! ::BOING:: XD Mama kitties so very get to play too!
I don’t blame whoever is lucky enough to foster Tala for lighting up when seeing her beautiful self. I mean, fluffy calico! I bet she lit up twice as brightly when she got to spend time with Tala and the Coins, considering what a total lovebug lapcat snuggler Tala is, not to mention the cuteness of the teeny kittoons.
Newt the mellow doesn’t like Carson the even more mellow? Huh. Didn’t see that coming. Sweet boys are still sweet, though, differences or not. *pets both housepanther and ginger*
