She loves to hang out atop this cat tree.
Over the weekend, I could hear a loud banging noise in the foster room. When I looked in to see what was going on – you remember the cabinet under the window, where Mimosa gave birth? Daisy had been digging at one of those doors. Both doors were blocked by little cat trees, so she couldn’t get either of them open, but you know what? If Daisy wants to give birth in that cabinet, she is MORE than welcome to do so. So now one of the doors is propped mostly open, the bottom of the cabinet is covered by a washable pee pad, and there are a couple of soft blankets on top of it. She’s checked it out a few times, but she’s also checked out the crate I set up for her – so I guess we’ll see (and none of us will be surprised if she decides to have them somewhere else entirely.)

It is utterly ridiculous how cute Lincoln is.

It’s a Lilly pie! (My favorite!)
Just off camera, Fred was waving the feather teaser around. Her flat ears are cracking me up.
Fred brought Lincoln down into the bathroom to hang out with Lilly, and while you might have expected a sweet slow-motion run into each others’ arms, they basically just looked at each other and shrugged.
The separation continues to go well. Lilly’s making huge leaps forward; Lincoln’s inching forward (but making definite progress.) The funny thing is that when they’re together, he’s the more confident one. When they’re apart, she is.

Here’s a video introducing our newest foster Daisy (as seen on the blog post this morning as well.)
The important points:
*Her name is Daisy. We’ve had her since last Wednesday.
*About 3 years old
*Polydactyl
*Pregnant (confirmed by x-ray; at least 3 kittens, possibly more)
*Due by March 19th (at the latest)
*Litter naming theme: The Great Gatsby
And yes, we still have Lincoln and Lilly. Depending on how things go with those two, we’re hoping they can join Daisy in the foster room (if she’ll allow it) by the end of the week.

Regarding the “say hello to Daisy” video, I have to ask. Did you buy the pants with the daisies on the specifically for this video, or did you already have them and realize how appropriate they were?
I meant to comment yesterday, but, Daisy! 😀 Hi Daisy! One of my favorite shelter kitties was a Daisy, a three-legged torbie lap cat lovebug. She ended up adopted by a fellow volunteer and, last I heard, was living a wonderful life and had charmed her person’s whole family. … I still miss that kitty, I admit.
As to this Daisy, eeeee polydactyl paws! How many extra toes has this kitty got? And kitten names, hmm. If I remember correctly (we read The Great Gatsby in college, and I recall being thoroughly unimpressed) Jordan was about the only halfway decent person in the cast! So that name gets a vote from me.
And, Lincoln purring! Awwwww. He’s got quite the purr, too.
Gatsby’s home was supposed to be located on Long Island in Great Neck, New York (aka West Egg). This was the ‘new money’ area.
The North Shore of Long Island was nicknamed the ‘Gold Coast’ during the early 20th Century because of the affluent residents.
Maybe the kittens could be the Coasters?

Daisy’s dock? The Dockers!
You may be too committed to the Great Gatsby theme by now, but if you think you can still switch, perhaps you could change to a “Daisy Jones and the Six” theme. Two reasons: 1. Names: I can only think of one other female character and she gets killed in a hit-and run accident. Can only remember Jay and Nick as boy’s names. Daisy Jones has a much bigger cast of characters. 2.) Gatsby is certainly a masterpiece and well worth a reread, but it’s a bummer. The futility of the search for happiness in a capitalist society, the destruction of the poor and helpless – Gatsby’s got it all. Daisy Jones (the book, soon to be miniseries) isn’t great lit but does have a sweet and happy ending, as should all kitties.
I’ve been following your blog for more than a decade, and want to thank you for all the joy you’ve given my daughter and me!
Yeah, I’m pretty committed to the Great Gatsby theme now. I figure if I run out of names, I can always expand it to include Scott & Zelda – and if Daisy has a litter of girls, I could use names of famous flappers (Clara Bow comes to mind.)
