Three Pickles, three Weeds (well, four Pickles if you include Magoo back there in that bed by his lonely self.)
From another angle. The look on Purslane’s face is cracking me up. “WHAT YOU WANT, LADY?”
Magoo, close up. He has such a square little face.
Thistle, snugglin’ with Joe Pickle. The Pickles are like body pillows for that little girl.
Purslane and Thistle. (And Purslane’s tongue!)
Percy Pickle and his toes ‘n nose.
Do you know, it isn’t ’til I was looking at this picture that it clicked for me that I’ve got four boy kittens and four girls. It seems like we’ve got about 100 more boy kittens than girls some days. Here we have all the girl kittens in the house, in one bed. You can’t tell from this angle, but Thistle is actually completely laying on top of Polly. She’s so light that I don’t think Polly even notices.
Sweet Polly Pickle (and Percy’s toes.)
I weighed everyone the other day. Magoo is now over 3 pounds – he’s 3 pounds, 3 ounces – but still weighs 6 1/2 ounces less than the next-smallest Pickle, Petey. Joe Pickle is the biggest at 3 pounds, 13 ounces. Polly and Percy are both at 3 pounds, 10 ounces.
The Weeds are coming along, and have more of a difference between them. Thistle is the tiniest at 2 pounds, 1 1/2 ounces – she’s gaining very slowly, but she shows a gain every week – Purslane’s solidly in the middle at 2 pounds, 6 ounces. And Dandelion’s the biggest (as she has been from the beginning) at 2 pounds, 10 ounces.
Sometimes I pick up Joe Pickle and then pick up Thistle, and it seems like she weighs nothing at all.
Pardon me, Jake, your tunes appear to be looning.

2006: βThe only crime here is how good-lookinβ I am.β
2005: Oh, how I’m going to miss his stinky little butt!
It surprises me that Dandi is the heaviest as she looks the lankiest of them all. LOVE the pictures and love how Magoo looks like a real kitty now and w-a-y less bat-like.
Dandelion has definitely hit her long and lanky stage; Thistle and Purslane aren’t quite there yet. I was pleased this morning to notice that Thistle’s starting to get a little bit of a belly – she’s been skin and bones, and I added an extra snack to her day to get a little weight on her.
“Pardon me, Jake, your tunes appear to be looning” started my day off with a big laugh. Thanks. If I were closer I would do my best to take that worried look off Purslane’s face. She is just adorable.
Percy’s nose and toes, oh my! I love touching my kitties chins and toes when they sleep like that. And the ‘girls night in’ with all the girls in one basket … Sweet.
It only takes seven kittens to hold down that very important piece of mail. Magoo would have been overkill.
In this house the girl fosters completely outnumber the boys (5 to 3) and yet it still feels like we’re over-run with boy kittens. Probably because they’re the ones that insist on climbing my leg or pulling my socks off.
Also, after going back through the archived links for today, I’ve discovered a theme. Yesterday’s was about Kara heading to Petsmart. Today’s was how you are going miss Sugarbutt’s stinky butt. Neither of them appear to be gone or missing…
That is coming from the woman who said to another foster mom yesterday that I can’t go to Petco right now because Porter would probably be coming home with me. I miss my sweet, sensitive boy with the gigantic purr and can’t for the life of me figure out why he is still there. It hurts my heart.
Kelly? I totally get the “no more cats” thing – but sometimes it happens anyway. Maybe he is meant to be yours.
I have thought of that. My life is in a whirlwind upheaval at the moment and I can’t make that kind of commitment for at least another few weeks… but I’m thinking about it if our boy is still there.
Kelly – it makes it fit your theme even more when you realize that the Bear in that same litter and pictures is Tom Cullen who became a permanent before SugarButt did. π
I feel your pain, Kelly (obviously!) The worst is when your personal favorite just sits there for what seems like forever. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do if it takes Magoo a long time to get adopted. Clearly October is a bad (well, GOOD) month for us. π
Of course, I stopped in today to see him and the Adams boys anyway. Porter was being a whiny, pushy brat of a baby who wanted me to only pay attention to HIM. Bentley, Hudson, and Cruz just kind of stood behind him and waved π
My boy needs a home. It will come in time, but I imagine it won’t be mine. But I did give him lots of one on one snuggles to tide him over for a little while… until he decided to nibble on my neck. I have to draw the line at playing vampire. I don’t care if it IS October.

This sounds like a lead up to one of those dreaded math questions. If A weighs xx more than B and xx less than C how, how much does Z weigh?
The stuff of nightmares, I tell ya!
If Magoo leaves the train station heading west and travelling at a rate of 1.7 miles per hour and Purslane leaves the station heading east and moving at 1.3 miles per hour, how far will they get before we chase them down and snorgle them?
So totally LOVE those math problems!
Here’s another not so complicated one-if Oreo is asleep on my chest, exactly how much housework will be accomplished by me in the next 5 hrs.?
That would be NONE.
Trudy gets an A+!!!
LOL, it totally does!
What a way to start the day!!! The group picture just reminds me of a group of little kids! It always makes me smile π
Jake! Always happy to see you!
I just adore that last picture of Polly. She makes my heart melt.
I just went through the older links. I’d never seen the “new” litter from 2008 before. The scared orange kitty with his ears flat on his head nearly broke my heart, he looked so scared. Poor boy! Can’t wait to read their story in the next days and weeks.
first you have no cat toys, now a complete lack of cat beds, making them all share one.. *giggle*
Robyn is a mean mean mama!
They have to EARN luxuries like beds and toys! π
“This is the girls bed, no boys allowed! Boys stink!” And then a tongue sticks out. Is that how it went down?
Jake’s Toons are looning? Or are his loons tooning? Probably both knowing Jake-man!
Robyn…I immediately thought of you when I saw this: https://www.livingsocial.com/products/us/9194-personalized-bunga-beds-for-pets?msdc_id=347&ref=Product101012_email513341
That’s a really good price for one of those beds! I don’t need another one, though. No, I DON’T. But… that’s SUCH a good price. Maybe I do need another one. Just in CASE. π
LOL. I thought you might need another one, you know, as a backup. I mean…it’s such a good price. π
I think you need a second because you do have two feet.. I mean what if you are in the room and you need shoes NOW…
Magoo has lost the gremlin look. Is the angle of the photos distorting the width of his nose? The 2 photos of Thistle and then Magoo; Thistle’s nose looks wider/bigger. Or is Magoo still growing into his head?
The voices in Jakes head are telling him to do naughty, but hilarious things.
Many thanks for adding more of Tommy and Suggie’s story. I’ve been celebrating Tom Cullen’s adoption and am on tenterhooks re Sugarbutt atthe moment! Meanwhile, back in 2012, I’m wondering how difficult it will be to let those Scrumptious Pickles and Wonderful Weeds go.
I just had to share some sweet news. Quite a while back I’d told you about my friend who did dialysis at home on her cat and said she would never get another cat? Well after her grade school age son’s many pleadings she and her husband finally gave in! They had been checking a local Pet Valu store’s adoptable kittens every weekend for six months. Last weekend they found a cute 8 week old Calico. She was named Honey BooBoo (OY!)which they changed. The cat they lost was named Honey so they had good reason besides the obvious. They let their son choose the name and she is Daisy now. I have to go meet her. I’m so happy for their son. He is only child-my friend tried to give him a sibling but no luck-and I felt like he really needed a cat buddy. Nice to hear good news! It’s been a little too much gloom and doom here lately. Yay for a happy ending!
PS Not that it is wrong to be an only child but he was begging for a sibling before the cat. Adopting a cat is so much easier!
