On Friday, we weighed the kittens and took pictures of each!
Darwin is the smallest at 13 1/2 ounces.
Logie continues to be the largest at 1 pound and 7/8 ounces.
Newbery weighed in at 14 3/4 ounces.
And Razzie’s at 13 5/8 ounces.
For future reference (although I’m sure I’ll never remember this), it’s apparently at the 3 1/2 week mark when the kittens lose their fear and start seriously venturing forth from their safe place. Now when I go into the room, I speak to Emmy (I always speak to her as I’m coming through the door so she’ll know I’m coming; the other day I walked through the door without speaking, and she hissed at me!) and the kittens talk back to me.
I was hanging out with Emmy and the kittens yesterday, and all four of the babies came out of the box while Emmy snoozed in the box. Newbery came hauling butt out of the box, stumbled drunkenly toward the corner of the room where the litter box is, then changed direction and came over to me, sniffed my foot wildly, and then climbed up in my lap.
Newbery and Logie appear to be pretty fearless, though Razzie and Darwin aren’t far behind!
Belly up to the milk bar, kiddies.
They are such BRATS these days. They’re always smacking at Emmy, biting her on the face, and she totally puts up with it.
“Please, lord, don’t let those brats wake up. Mama needs a break.”
I wish I could sleep on a bed of kittens. I bet that would be super comfy! Well. Except for the claws.
Oh, the little bitty FACES kill me dead. Also, the spotted belly.
“Maaaaamaaaaaaaaa! We is hungry!”

Remember last week when I said that Kara always looks concerned and a bit stressed? Well, I was wrong.
Apparently there are actually times when she’s relaxed and happy looking, and those times are when she’s being held like a baby. Is she not the most gorgeous girl?

Sweet Kara — she looks like a completely different kitty in this pic. And the thought of wildly cute kittens climbing unbidden into your lap is heaven! Thanks for the weight update, and do you recall Maggie’s babies being so bratty at this stage? Poor Emmy!
I vaguely recall Maggie’s babies being brats around this age, though of course it could have been a bit later for them, I don’t recall that clearly. I do know that all mama cats put up with a LOT from their bratty little monsters and they deserve medals for their patience. Or lots of treats! 🙂
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
*faints from all the CUTE!*
x
aww the cute…..we love this stage – all fun and games!!!
3 1/2 weeks also appears to be the age when they start to definitively look exactly like “miniature cats”. 🙂
Yes! They totally look like miniature cats now! I love this age. 🙂
It’s the ears! They pop up.
Congratulations: you’ve got a herd of kitten toddlers!
Kara looks blissful in that picture. What pretty green eyes!
My four aren’t quite ready for the big bad world yet.. and it is nice to have reconfirmation that they are monsters..
Yours must be putting all their energy into growing rather than exploring. 🙂
I stumbled upon you when “Your Daily Cute” published the video of Emmy’s pre-delivery belly moving and I haven’t missed a day of your posts, since… I was actually a little miffed ( ;-D ) when on Friday, you told us you were taking the weekend off from posts… how dare she??? What am I supposed to do for 2 mornings w/o my kitten fix??? So that makes me wonder… aside from when the ‘big cats’, dogs and the chickens won’t leave you alone until they’re fed, how do you get anything accomplished at the ranch when there are 4 adorable kittens to just sit and watch, and now begin playing with? I’d be a mess… thanks for the posts… they are so friggin adorable. Can’t wait until it’s time to get my own little ones…
The chickens and dogs are usually Fred’s responsibility (unless he’s working late), and believe me: I don’t get much done around the house these days! 🙂
Re: getting your kitten fix. She’s got plenty of archives to read. 🙂 I spent more of the weekend than I’d like to admit, doing just that.
3 weeks is when kittens are at their deadliest cute.
And with that, *KERPLOW* goes my head from the adorable-ness.
Oh my gosh, those kittens are far far far too cute! Heads are exploding all over the place and the sound of SQUEEEEEE just will not stop! How awesome that one crawled into your lap. I notice you dont have a picture of that… but then, the camera would be the last thing on my mind too.
Kara! Oh so pretty and relaxed and so so sweet!
I didn’t even think of grabbing the camera – I’m sure there’ll be plenty of chances for pictures in the future, though. Except for Darwin, all of the kittens were in my lap this afternoon, apparently they plan to do that a lot. I’m not complaining! 🙂
Ah, Robyn, I just spent a lovely hour catching up from Miz Emmy’s Alien belly to this post(something I told myself I wouldn’t do – just planned on jumping back in, but it was new babies so I had to, just had to!). I iz ded from da cute. Again! You do the best pics and commentary, hon!
Thanks! 🙂
They never grow out of some things. “Maaaaamaaaaaaaaa! We is hungry!” happens every morning at my house and mine are all over ten pounds. Simba’s face even resembles the screaming kitten when he haz complaint. Shouldn’t surprise me considering he’s the heftiest at 15 pounds and the mouthpiece for the others at meal time.
I will admit that I’ve been back more than a couple times over the weekend hoping you found something to post (Not demanding or even asking… just hoping so I could get my kitten fix.) Made up my mind, and my husband’s mind too, that we’ll do more fostering in the summer after the original foster goes home. I’d like a passel of babies right now, but would you believe I fell and broke my arm on the very day that I was asking about what room to put them in? Guess the universe decided my timing for me. Thankfully you, Laurie, and Sue all have babies for me to look at. My seniors are doing a wonderful job keeping me company in the meantime.
Oh nooooooo, Kelly! I hope you’re not in much pain from your arm. That cannot be much fun to deal with, I hope you heal fast!!!
Sweetie tinny babies!!!! OMGGGGG!
Ahh — my daily quotient of cute!! I love when the babies get to the exploring stage and how they are coming to you for belly rubs and ear stritches! Love em!
Sqeeeee!!! What precious babies. I’d get nothing done if I had those babies to watch. And that Logie is quite the hoss compared to her siblings! (I like my kitties BIG.)
What adorable photos of the kittens, Emmy and Kara! As always, I’m grateful for your blog, Robyn. It’s always a guaranteed bright spot of the (week)day!
🙂
I could put that Darwin in a bowl and eat him with a spoon.
The are so cute! I loooove tabbies. Check out my current.fosters at diaryofafostercat.blogspot.com!
