Would you look at that face? Polite interest and a bit of surprise, all “You want what? Babies? Don’t believe I’ve ever heard of those, sorry I can’t help you. BUH-bye!”
A shot from above so you can see the spread. (Heh.)
We were gone for two hours last evening, having dinner with Fred’s parents and sister and her husband. I hoped I’d come home and find Maggie in the midst of birthing 73 babies, but NOT A ONE.
“MAGGIE,” I said. “GIVE ME THOSE BABIES!”
“Nyah,” she said, and then head-butted my hand and demanded I scratch her behind the ears.
Obviously I have a thing for brown tabbies. Hello, pretty Corbie.
Rufus is not only coming out from under the couch more and more, but yesterday afternoon we found him on top of the cat tree in the front room, curled up asleep. I’m glad he feels safe enough to do that now.
When we put him in the guest bedroom at night, I only have to sit down and call to him once, and he comes right over to me for petting and kisses.
Sugarbutt snuggles up to the new bed I bought him at Walgreen. Something about the fact that a cat is snuggled up to sleep in a bed shaped like a dog amuses me for some reason. It doesn’t take much, obviously.

Today’s the day, Maggie! You heard me! Git to it! 😀
Maggie, enough with the wide eyed innocence, young lady. It wasn’t innocence that got you to the point of having people from across the country hounding you to birth those babies already! Sheesh! Come on, honey, I promise, you’ll be a lot more comfy once they’re out!
And Rufus, you are comin’ along great, sweetie!
My goodness she is a big girl. I think 73 kittens would be a fairly accurate guess! Can you feel them rocking and rolling in there now?
I sure hope Tom finds a GOOD home soon. He seems to be the type of kitty that any cat lover would want!
Come on Maggie, we’re ready to meet your babies.
I think Maggie’ll have those babies when waiting has frustrated you enough you’ve half given up on ever seeing them, and are starting to seriously suspect there was a mistake again and she’s not actually pregnant…
Rufus is looking smug these days. Especially in that first pic. He’s got the good life don’t he?
I know this has been asked, but we do know definitively that Maggie’s pregnant right?
Kar, we do – at least, the vet said she was. Last year, Maura wasn’t actually seen by a vet, which is how she ended up staying so long with us before we found out she wasn’t pregnant. I’m half of a mind that if she doesn’t birth ’em by Friday, I’ll take her to the vet so the vet can feel her up and reassure me!
I LOVE that last shot of Maggie (“A shot from above so you can see the spread”); it reminds me of a LOLcat that had me laughing all day: http://icanhascheezburger.com/2008/06/10/funny-pictures-till-it-fills-the-pan/
Robyn,
I think Maggie is just upset that you keep posting such unflattering pictures of her on the interwebs… I think if you stop, she might forgive you in a few days to give you the babies… You know like by Sunday.

Oooh! Babies coming! That’s my cue to start paying attention more. 🙂 Babies!!
