So, the dropping off of Terry and Sookie went okay. As well as could be expected, I guess. They only howled half the way there, then settled down and snoozed the rest of the way. They were mostly curious about the cat room at Petsmart.
Until I opened the cage Lafayette and Bill were in, that is. Bill and Lafayette ran over to Sookie and were all “Hey! Hi! Howyadoin’?!” and Sookie was all “EXCUSE me, I do not KNOW you, please stop sniffing my butt!”
I let them all run around and mingle for a good long while, and the hisses from Sookie and Terry kept coming, but they weren’t quite as adamant about it. Finally, I gave them all hugs and kisses, put them in their cage, and left. I ran some errands and then stopped back by Petsmart after they’d opened (I needed to stock up on cat food. Don’t I always?!). I stood at the end of the aisle where the cats couldn’t see me, and watched them.
Bill and Lafayette were all sprawled out on the floor of the cage, sound asleep. Terry and Sookie were sitting up on the shelf staring down at them, clearly thinking “What fresh hell is this?”
My poor babies.
“Did I mention DO NOT SNIFF ME?”
Bill did not want to be held and kissed. Bill wanted to run! And play! And run some more!
Lafayette, in a rare moment of stillness.
The Wonkas are doing well. They’ve gone from that round baby kitten stage, to the long ‘n lanky stage. They race around like little wild things, but when I come into the room they pile on me and I LOVE it. Nothing like having a lap full of sweet purring kittens.
Sweet until they start smacking at my eyelashes or grabbing at my mouth with their sharp little claws, that is. We trimmed their claws the other night, and life in the Wonka room is now a little less painful for me.
I don’t think anyone was actually even touching him here, he was just being all drama queen-y.
I got this cheap little basket at (I think) the dollar store with the intention of storing cat toys in it. The cats ADORE hanging out in it. When I clean and vacuum their room, I pile all the toys in this basket, and within ten minutes of setting them free in their room, they’ve got the basket emptied and someone’s sitting in it.
I just love the white whiskers against the dark fur.
I have no pictures of the Cookies to share today, because I’ve been lax about taking the camera into the room with me. I’ll try to remedy that later today!

I love all the pics…but I must admit that I miss Hoyt [sigh]…
Oh sweet little Sookie and Terry…I really hope the remaining four TrueBloods get adopted as soon as possible into the happiest homes ever! As for those Wonkas, they are just such a funny bunch…and little Miss Violet is turning into quite a beauty!
Oh I can’t believe they are gone! Seriously – how hard would it be to just pop Terry on a plane out here – I miss him already!
And the Wonkas are so funny – although Gus still seems the most kittenish – but the girls (and I am pretty sure that is only one of them but I can never tell) are definitely starting into the teen stage as I call it. We have one in the middle of that now – have fun with that! And didn’t you know – anything that is a laundry basket or laundry basket like (which that basket is – I wondered why you had such tiny laundry) is automatically a cat magnet. It is an actual law of physics.
And what is Elwood so upset about – there doesn’t appear to be any tiny person biting him or jumping on him – he should be happy for the break! Or does he miss Terry and Sookie – I always wonder about that.
We hope that Terry and Sookie and Bill and Lafayette all finds home soon. Wouldn’t it be great if they got to stay together?
The Wonkas make us laugh. Little Mike looks so terribly ferocious.
Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and looking forward to the continuing adventures….

I am sending warm thoughts and best wishes to the Trueblood kitties this evening in hopes that their forever owners show up soon! As sad as that part made me {good-bye little kitties} the Wonkas made up for it! Love the Dollar Store basket picture. A classic!
Good luck, dear truebloods!
Robyn, what would you call Bill’s coat pattern? It’s sort of like mackerel but in broken stripes. OT a bit: Our Philly’s a bit like that too but his pattern is more like streaky spots. I’ve never found anything that really describe such coat patterns. I’m asking as I did a cat pattern description blog post, and haven’t gotten round to correcting my erroneous labelling of Philly as a spotted tabby because there’s no supporting evidence for “streaky spots” and it sounds just too goofy. -_-
Calsifer: That’s an excellent question, and one I don’t have an answer for. 🙂 I found your blog post very interesting – I’m notoriously bad about figuring out exactly what kind of cat is what, and now I know that Violet and Veruca are torbies. I always wondered exactly what that meant!
Thanks, Robyn. And glad the post is useful. The quest shall continue =)
Actually, I think the Vi girls are torties as their patches aren’t tabby patterned, at least from what I’ve seen of them.
Calsifer: I looked them over this morning, and one of them has an orange tabby leg (I think it was Violet, but of course I don’t remember now!) and the other is all tortie.
Maybe “Tabby-legged tortie” should be a new classification. 😀
