When I got to the vet to pick up Lafayette yesterday afternoon, he was a little groggy but awake and moving around okay. He snoozed all the way home, but when I got him upstairs and he saw that his siblings were about to eat their evening snack, he began howling his little head off. I opened the front of the carrier and he shot out, ran down the hallway and practically dove face-first into the plate of kitten food.
He didn’t want to be picked up or handled last night, but today he’s acting just like himself.
With Lafayette getting his new eyelips, we now have more kittens with eyelips than without!
Terry’s going on Wednesday – I don’t know if she’ll be able to do the neuter, hernia and eyelips, I’ll find out when I go to pick him up – and Sookie goes on Friday.
Terry always gets so grabby when I point the camera at him.
Hoyt on my lap. He has such huge paws!
After surgery, I note that Bill opens his eyes a lot more than he did – he used to sit around like this most of the time, and now you can actually see that he has eyes!

Oh, Layfayette, your new eyelips are so handsome! And your little pink tongue more cuteness than I can handle!
It’s so good to see Bill looking clear-eyed at the camera! Hooray for eyelips!

The kitties are so cute with their eye lips, but what a huge difference on Bill!
I think Lafayette looks happy in those pictures!
Speaking of cats and eyes… I just started reading this book and thought you’d love it (if you haven’t already heard of it). It’s Homer’s Odyssey – How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wondercat. It’s the best story so far, and I’ve only just started.
Homer was only a few weeks old when he had to have his eyes removed, and this is the story about how great he turned out and the woman who adopted him.
If you have any spare time in between caring for all these sweet kitties like you do, I’d highly recommend it! 🙂

Oh, yay for Bill! Hopefully he likes what he’s seeing of the world. Lafayette’s eyebrow shave job is pretty goofy, but that pink tongue is cute!
Oh I am so sleep deprived working on a project late… so I’m looking at these kittens again for a break, and commenting again… Bill I send you so many kisses. Such a serious boy! Life’s tough but you’re tougher, little man!
Awwww… makes me so happy to see little kitties with open eyes, thanks to their brand new eyelips!!
Lafayette, you have the cutest tongue and nose I’ve ever seen!
It’s a interesting new look for Lafayette – black fur and white shaved patches over the eye. Very chic!
Good to hear that the surgery has gone well for every single one of the cuties — now onward and upward with Sookie and Terry, that cute little mess!
Why did they need surgery?
