Here are some Norbie pics from before he left us (there’ll be more in tomorrow’s post, too.)
“What? Am taking a sun bath, lady.”
Just the PRETTIEST boy, that Norbs.
I’m pretty sure that after I took this picture, I went over and kissed him on his head. SO SWEET.
He’s got his feather, and hopes you don’t think you’re going to take it away from him.

Now that is a mess o’ kittens.
Paulie Walnuts is proving to be the joker of the bunch.
Carmela would appreciate it A LOT if I would just put her DOWN.
Adriana really likes to keep an eye on me.
Paulie Walnuts, making himself comfy. I love how Adriana and Carmela are all “Do you MIND?”, but Paulie Walnuts is just as happy as can be. “Bed made of kittens is COMFY!”
Silvio, seeking a little solitude.
“Mama? Mama? We is hungry, Mama. Mama? MAMA!”
“She can’t see me, can she? Don’t tell her I’m here. Mama needs a rest.”

Miz Poo, in the pagoda cat tree. During the week, Miz Poo keeps Fred company in his office (along with Tommy) during the days, and in the evenings she lays and watches TV with us, sometimes laying on me and sometimes sprawled out on the couch next to Fred. At night, she sleeps in the cat bed on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in my room. She likes to be near her people, is what I’m saying.

Was there ever a time when Miz Poo was an only child? Just wondering.
No, she’s never been an only child. We had four cats (Tubby, Fancypants, Spanky, and Spot) when we adopted her (and OH did Fred freak out about the fact that we were going to have FIVE cats. HAHAHAHA.), and then Fancypants went missing, so shortly after that we adopted Mister Boogers. Then Tubby died, and we stayed at 4 for a while (a few years? Maybe?), and then we adopted Sugarbutt and Tommy. Then we moved into this house, and the floodgates opened. Miz Poo would LOVE to be an only child, though. She has zero use for other cats.
Kitten toe beans! Carmela has caramel toe beans! So sweet to see first thing in the morning!
I’m so happy for Norbie and his people. When you think how different his life could have been, and how sweet he is, it brings a smile, knowing he will have a wonderful life.
sweet babies…..and sweet Norbs!!
O Em Gee. I went to a conference for a week and was so busy there, that I couldn’t find any time to get online, and now – BAM! I just don’t know where to begin! SEVEN kittens! Kitty-Mama so gorgeous! And the names! And there is a CARMELA – what!? One of my three kitties, the sweetest, most mellow kitty I’ve ever met (twin sister of my beloved, late Chester) is officially called Carmen, but because of her coloring (she’s a chocolate tabby British Shorthair) and her sweetness, we never call her any other name but Caramelle. The little Carmela looks so much like our sweet girl! Amazing!
See what happens when you’re away? 😀
How do you get anything done with a box full of teeny kittens in the house? I’d coo over the fur balls all day…
Kitten time is my reward for doing the stuff I don’t particularly want to do. Vacuum the house, get some kitten time. Unload the dishwasher, get some kitten time. And so on!
I’m curious — what is the largest litter you have fostered? I don’t remember anything larger than the Sopranos at 7, but I’ve only been reading the blog for about 2 1/2 years.
In 2009 we had The Seven, which was (obviously) a litter of 7 siblings, including tiny Beulah. However, that was just the kittens, their mother wasn’t included, so I think the Sopranos is the largest litter!
I love that chart you made in 2011! Are you making a new one soon?
Yes, I’m hoping to get it done before Friday, actually. I saw the chart and immediately thought “That thing needs to be updated!”
Awwww pretty pretty Paulie!! Awwww how adorable!!
Mama is just SO pretty!!
So so happy for gorgeou Norbert! take care
x
I look at Paulie and I keep hearing “Stuck in the Middle with You.” You’re right, he’s the joker in the deck of card.
This is going to be a morbid question, and you almost certainly won’t know the answer, but does maybe anyone in the foster organization(s) know anything about the two kittens who didn’t survive – their sex, coloration, cause of death, anything like that? I think it’s just a me/melancholy thing but every time I coo over the lovely bebbehs here, I get a moment’s pang for the two little lost ones who we’ll never know – and I don’t even know how to think of them, to offer up a little mourning for them.
This litter and the last one (Norbert’s orphaning) both had those faint shimmers of sadness behind the joy of seeing healthy, well-loved, obviously happy babies grow into sleek little heart-stealing monsters. Maybe those dark threads make the brightness shine all the brighter, but I sure hope it’s not a trend. I’m okay with just an averagely-bright brightness, y’know?
(And now REM is telling me that “Everybody Hurts” – man, the universe is gunning for me tonight! LOL)
I know that the one who died the day before I got them was a grayish tabby. I believe – though I can’t swear to it – that the one who died immediately (or was possibly stillborn) was also a brown tabby. The grayish tabby was a boy (there were 4 boys and 4 girls), but I don’t know the sex of the first one who died.
(PS: I LOVE “Everybody Hurts”! Heh.)
