Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.
In case you missed it, Winter was adopted and went home yesterday! Here she is, top left, on July 21st and top right just a few days ago! And because Instagram hates a non-square picture, there she is, bottom left and right, around the time we brought the Mewsketeers home. The girl has grown just a bit! She is now Luna, which I think fits her perfectly.
Look who it is! Just a few short months ago (well, they were born in February), we had floofy gray Alejandro and his sleek housepanther brother Javier as our fosters, part of Los Mewchachos, Isabella’s kittens. They were adopted together – Alejandro is now Fizzgig and Javier is Taco. Sara said: “Kitty naps with Taco as the blanket, even grumpy uncle Felix can’t say no.” (That’s gorgeous grumpy Uncle Felix on the right. I guess it’s a good thing the boys had Archie to train them in the ways of grumpy uncles! 😉 ) (Thanks, Sara!)

Kittens playing… and in my lap. (Video made before Winter went home yesterday, obviously.) Rochefort, Winter, Athos & Porthos on the floor – Aramis, Constance and d’Artagnan in my lap.
How many kittens DOES it take to change a lightbulb? I’m counting 4. I wonder where the other slackers are.
Rochefort’s all “Excuse you, lady, we is tryin’ to nap here. You take that camera and go elsewhere.” and Aramis is all “YEAH.”
Athos hanging out between the pillows looking adorable. As you doooo.
Good night innernets. (Porthos)
It’s Laundry Day, and Aramis can’t wait ’til it’s time to fold.
This absolutely GORGEOUS girl is Piper, who was our foster Dynamo (Ryder’s daughter!) back in 2018. She is just the sweetest girl. Isn’t she beautiful?? (That TAIL. Those EYES. Those EARS!) (Thanks, Katelyn!)

Hello, d’Artagnan. (He could see himself in the camera and was fascinated!)
D’Artagnan and Constance really like this bed! (It’s a Kinpaw Felt Cat Bed 4-in-1 Feline Cave; I got it from Groupon last year. It can be unsnapped at the corners to lie flat, but I’ve never used it like that. The kittens really seem to like how deep it is.)

Kitten room play time!
I could just squoosh Rochefort, I really could.
Good night innernets. (Constance)
SMILE! Athos is still available for adoption, if you hadn’t heard. He’s just over 3 months old and is the SWEETEST little monkey. He can be timid at first in new situations, but he’s also very nosy and it doesn’t take him long to come out and see what’s going on. He’s a total lovebug (don’t adopt this boy if you don’t want a lapcat), has an instant, constant purr and loves to be held and kissed. He’s very very playful and LOVES it if you toss toys for him. He’ll leap up after the feather teaser, loves track ball toys – really, he’s one well-rounded boy.
He loves other cats, plays well with them, and loves to cuddle up for a nap with them (and with humans. Honestly, a pile of kittens on top of a human is his favorite sleeping situation.) Forgotten Felines of Huntsville has a strict kitten policy – Athos MUST be adopted into a home with at least one other age-appropriate cat, or if you’re looking for a pair he gets along very well with his siblings d’Artagnan, Porthos and Aramis.
If Athos seems like your kinda guy, email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama, so if you don’t live in the area, you must be willing to come here to finalize the adoption.
“YOU VANT TO BRING ME HOME!” D’Artagnan is half-bat half-kitten and completely available for adoption! He is the goofiest boy with the MOST expressive face and ears, and he will entertain you endlessly. He’s super-sweet and super-friendly (he is a total lapcat – don’t adopt this boy if you buy into the stereotype that cats are standoffish and distant. This boy is all about the love, and he adores sitting in your lap and being snuggled. He wants to love you UP CLOSE and he expects that you will love him too. How could you possibly resist?)
He gets along great with other kittens, plays well with them, and loves to cuddle up with them (and with you!) Aramis is wearing his best tie and is ready to interview for the position of YOUR KITTY. This beautiful boy is a little more than 3 months old, is neutered and ready to find his forever home. He is not only gorgeous (look at those stripes! Those ears! That soft and silky fur!), he is a total sweetheart. You can pick him up, flip him onto his back, and he purrs so hard he sounds like a cricket. He loves to be near you, will start purring like crazy the instant you touch him, and will writhe around on his back while you pet him. He’s happy to sit in your lap and be petted for a little while, but he really prefers to be next to you or near you (perhaps in a pile of cat beds?) than on you. If you get up and move to another room, he’ll follow you and then settle in nearby.

What we have here is a basket full o’ CUTE. Black and white kitten Porthos is just over 3 months old and ready for adoption. He is a super sweet, very friendly boy and loves to be held and kissed and snuggled. He’s a total lapcat (when he’s not racing around like a crazy thing), and has an instant, constant purr. He’s a little bit of a baby, too – when he’s sleepy, he may nurse a little on the collar or sleeve of your shirt. This is normal self-soothing behavior for a kitten who wasn’t quite ready to be separated from his mama, and he may or may not grow out of. Regardless, it doesn’t happen very often, and it is very very sweet when it does. (Interesting side note, not seen in this picture: he has a black cat on his back!)
Porthos gets along great with other kittens – he’s very playful and also likes to snuggle up with them. It would be rude to post pictures of all the other kittens and not include Rochefort (left) and Constance, even though they’re adoption pending, right? (Constance is definitely smaller than her brother, but the angle makes her look even smaller than she actually is.)
I put collars on Rochefort and Constance yesterday to see how they’d do. After a few moments of puzzlement, Rochefort completely forgot he was wearing a collar. Constance, on the other hand, managed to get her lower jaw stuck under the collar (SHE WAS BEING SUPERVISED SO SHE WAS ONLY LIKE THAT FOR A MOMENT.) I tightened the collar and she managed to do it again. I tightened the collar a bit more and she did it AGAIN. I didn’t want to tighten it any further, so I took the collar off (okay, I took a picture first. Sue me.) and we’ll try it again when she’s gotten a bit bigger. I’ve never had this issue with previous kittens (and I’ve collared a lot of kittens) – she’s talented!
Good night innernets. (Aramis & Porthos)
Surprise! D’Artagnan, Rochefort, Athos and Porthos were neutered yesterday! I didn’t get word ’til late Monday that there was room for them and had already scheduled yesterday’s posts, otherwise I would have mentioned it yesterday morning. Everything went great and now we wait for the right people to come along and claim d’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos and Aramis. (Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org if you think that might be you. Note: WE ARE IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA. WE DON’T ALLOW TRANSPORT OF KITTENS. YOU GOTTA COME HERE TO GET THEM. THEM’S THE RULES.)
When I took the boys to be neutered yesterday*, I got to say hi to Bunny, who is looking FABULOUS. She went out of her way to come over and hiss at my carrier full of kittens because she wants it known that she is ONE THOUSAND PERCENT DONE with any kind of kittens. On the up side, I don’t want to ruin her reputation or anything, but I heard a rumor that she was spotted PLAYING with another adult cat. Just briefly, and knowing Bunny it probably ended with hissing, but that’s a big step for our girl.
*Spay/neuter days take place at Michelle’s house – a mobile vet parks in her driveway and does the spay/neuters and exams there in a fully equipped mobile clinic. I usually wait for my kittens (rather than drop them off and pick them up later), and so I get to visit with the cats there, including Bunny, Alexandra and some other kitties whose pictures I’ll share in the next couple of days.

Athos has a purrrrr. He’s such a sweet snugglebug.
LOOK who it is! He went home just last week, and Jupiter (formerly Planchet) and his big brother Bushwacker are complete BFFs. Kai said: “These two are attached at the hip. They became such fast friends. Bushwacker says Jupiter is HIS kitten.” I love this so much! (Thanks, Kai!)

Whereupon Alexa annoys me – must be a day that ends in “y.” (I expected the kittens to have a bigger reaction to the sounds of strange cats meowing, honestly.)
Archie wuz here. (For those who don’t know, permanent resident Archie likes to show the dishtowels just who the boss is by pulling them down and kicking them. If I think of it, I’ll dig up the Archie-kicking-the-dishtowel video for tomorrow!)
Happy Thlurrrpsday! (D’Artagnan)
Continuing our Thursday stroll down memory lane, say hello to fosters#38-41: Gilligan, Maryanne, Tina Louise and Spanky who we fostered June – August 2007. (We started out with a Gilligan’s Island theme, as you may be able to tell, but the name Ginger had been used before, so we went with Tina Louise (the name of the actress who played Ginger) and then Thurston and Lovey had been used, and we went ahead and broke the theme by naming the 4th kitten Spanky because he looked like our permanent resident Spanky.)
This litter was our first experience with hissy-spitty ferals. They wanted nothing to do with us at first. Tina Louise was the first to warm up, and she turned into a regular friendly kitten, so went to Petsmart and was adopted. Gilligan and Spanky went about a month later. The instant her siblings were all gone, gorgeous blue-eyed Maryanne became a nearly-normal kitten, seeking attention from us. And she fell in love with our permanent resident Tom Cullen. She did eventually go to Petsmart for one night, but came home the very next day because Fred loved her so. She became our permanent resident Stinkerbelle, and she was with us until April 2016, when she passed away at the age of 9. (We had lost her true love Tom Cullen the previous summer, and I believe she died of a broken heart.) Gilligan and Spanky were adopted together.

Archie showing the dish towel who the boss is. I feel so much safer with Archie here to keep us safe from those dastardly towels!
Say hello to fosters #42-47: the Ka-Tet, named after characters from the Stephen King Dark Tower series: Billy Bumbler (we used the name Oy with our very first litter), Callahan, Susannah, Eddie Dean, Jake and Roland. We fostered them from early September to early October 2007. They were actually from two litters – the orange kittens were siblings and the brown tabbies were siblings – but they played well together. They went off to Petsmart but had to come back to us for a little while to be treated for Giardia. Once they were healthy, they all went back to Petsmart and were adopted out quickly. Eddie Dean was returned in 2012, but was adopted out again. Eddie Dean was such a SUPER playful boy that Fred nicknamed him Crazy Eddie, and for a few years afterward any playful brown tabby got the nickname Crazy Eddie.

Play time! Those kittens are feeling a little BOING-y.
Porthos keeps an eye on me from a distance.
Good night innernets. (Rochefort)
Breakfast! Clockwise from the top, we have: Porthos, Athos, Constance, d’Artagnan, Aramis and Rochefort.
When I took the boys for their neuters Tuesday, I got to see Alexandra. She’s doing great! She’s definitely put on some much-needed weight, came over to say hi and be petted, and was just hanging out being chill. (She did not see her kittens; she was in a room in another part of the house.)
Please note that d’Artagnan (mid-snuggle with Athos) has developed a line of white down his side. Maybe it’s the string to his white bikini?

Tussle time in the kitten room! (Please note that Rochefort doesn’t slide through that scratcher tunnel NEARLY as quickly as Constance can.)
I came out from the bathroom to find this bunch of monkeys waiting for me. (Athos was on the floor and thus could not be captured in this picture.)
Porthos, Rochefort, d’Artagnan and Athos wonder if it’s time for a snuggle. (Answer: yes. Always.)
Good night innernets. (Constance)

Good morning from Luna (formerly Winter), who is very happy in her new home. That girl doesn’t stop for one moment, I swear.
Here’s another look at Luna (formerly Winter.) Nicole reports that Luna is actually playing with their old man kitty Jack. Stevie Bob, the young kitty intended to be Luna’s playmate, is still coming to terms with the fact that he’s no longer the baby of the bunch. I suspect it won’t be long before he comes around; Luna is irresistible! (Thanks, Nicole!)
“Please open this window, lady. There’s a bird out there that requires my attention.” (d’Artagnan)

Kitten room play time! Aramis wants to be a banana, but he doesn’t really fit in that bed… doesn’t stop him from trying, though.
There goes Porthos, admiring himself yet again (not that I can blame him. He’s AWFULLY cute.)
Good night innernets. (Athos & Rochefort)

I just adore seeing updates on former Foster’s. I love seeing how spoiled they are when I look at that toy strewn floor or how indulgent the other cats and are with the new ones. Thanks all for sending in pictures so we know the little ones and that’s a little ones are doing great.
It’s got to be great comfort to you Robin and Fred to see your former fosters being so smug and happy.
I absolutely love it!
Wonderful post today! Thank you, Robyn, for all the updates!
Wow, how is it that those babies haven’t been adopted yet?!! Oh man, Luna/Winter has a brother named Stevie Bob…that name is awesome! I’m so glad to read how happy she is.
Loved the trip down memory lane, and seeing everyone from Spanky and Stinkerbelle to Bunny!
I like that you also snap back at Alexa when she’s being a ditz.
She’s very good as far as setting an alarm or timer, turning lights on and off, and playing music. You stray too far from any of those, and she’s all “Uh, what? What? I don’t understand! Let me spew 5 minutes of useless information at you!” and it makes me want to throw her out the window.
