One day last week I was putting something away in the foster room closet, and a pie plate caught my eye, and I thought “Huh. You know, the permanent residents don’t have a pie plate. I wonder if any of them would be interested?” So I took it downstairs…

Oh YEAH, someone was interested all right! Khal has spent just about every minute of his life curled up in that pie plate since I brought it downstairs. He loves it SO MUCH, it’s apparently the ONE thing that was missing from his life.

That right there in the middle is former foster Dolce (Jocasta, 2022), who is livin’ the life with her sweet sisters Tortillini (left), Thumbelina (right), and Kahlua (back.)⁠

Dolce cared for her own five kittens (Angus, Jamie, Jenny, Lord John Grey, and Marsali) and her niece Lizzie, but also add-ins Fergus, Ian, Roger and Brianna. (I don’t believe that the add-ins actually nursed, but she certainly groomed and snuggled with them, and they absolutely adored her.)

These kittens are surprisingly non-hissy (Tina’s kittens, that is; I wouldn’t expect hisses from Carmy – bottle babies don’t generally hiss at their feeders because they’re used to the weird smell of humans). I’ve seen maybe two or three hisses, and haven’t managed to catch any of them on video. Ah well!

I don’t know if there’s actually a name for this paws-on-cheeks pose, but I call it the “Oh my doodness” (you’ve got to say it in the most syrupy-sounding baby talk), and Carmy is the CUTEST.

Tina keeps a CLOSE eye on her kittens – you notice they barely squeak the tiniest bit, and VROOM! she’s there, giving me a piece of her mind.

Richie’s out cold using his tiny little paw as a pillow, and could he be any cuter?
