“Hi, Mister. You sure are purty! Can I sniff your foot?
“Sure, kid. Go right ahead.”
“Wow. It smells like sunshine and marshmallows!”
“Hi, Mister Scorch! Whatcha doin’? You wanna play?”
“I don’t think he wants to play. He’s kinda rude.”
Ruth, Ember, and Scorch keep Uncle Tommy company at the food bowls. I love how Ember’s ear is carefully folded back so she doesn’t accidentally touch Scorch with it. (Also, see all that food scattered on the other side of the food bowls? These KITTENS and their morning zoomies. They love to scatter food far and wide.)
“Waiter, there appears to be a little kitten in my bed. And her ear smells funny.” Don’t be too impressed that Arya is in the cat bed with Norbert and Scorch. Fred put her there, and she didn’t stay long.
Ruthie shows her pretty, pretty eyes.
Ruthie, you are such a stressball.
Hallo, Ruthie. You ready to go to Petsmart?
“Nope. I’m good here.”
Well, let’s check with your brothers and sister and see if they’re ready to go.
“We’ll just hang out up here. You go on without us. We’ll catch up. Really!”
“I’ma take a nap first. You go ‘way.”
So, the Dragons will be off to Petsmart later today. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that they’re adopted ASAP! I’ll have a few more pictures of them tomorrow, so this isn’t the last you’ll see of them.

Newt takes in some sun. I’ve taken to calling him “Newtlebug” these days. We went from “Newt” to “Newtles” and now we’re at “Newtlebug.” Who knows what I’ll be calling him in another couple of years?

2012: Not even 12 hours in the cage for that sweet girl!
2011: (Obviously I need to speak in code from here on out, lest the little faker get wind of what’s coming.)
2010: Morning sunshine = Bookworms fightin’ time!
2009: “Wah! Make him stop messing with my taaaaaaaaail!”
2008: So Fred said “Well, they can’t ALL be your favorite, and besides we agreed we wouldn’t be keeping any of them.”
2007: No entry.
2006: No entry.
2005: No entry.
Newtlebug – I love it!
I am soooo going to miss the Dragons! Wishing them speedy adoptions to the most wonderful and loving families!
Oh sure…blame the kittens for everything!!!
Q: Why is there a big pile ‘o dirty laundry there?
A: Oh, those darn kittens!!!
Q: Why is there an inch of dust on the furniture?
A: Oh, those darn kittens!!!
Q: Why aren’t the dishes washed?
A: Oh, those darn kittens!!!
LOL. I need to get me some kittens!!!! 🙂
It’s not that there’s an inch of dust on the furniture – it’s that there’s an inch of dust with paw prints through it that I object to. 😀
I keep flashing back to the night the dragons were born and the drama with Norbert. The timing was incredible and Norbert really fell into a pile of lucky kitten that night. I will be sad to see them gone but especially Norbert. He always reminds me that miracles do occur.
I know! I’m a little sad to see this group go, especially Norbie! Safe travels little ones – I hope your forever families are right around the corner!!
I still remember his mama’s confused expression, she had this, “No seriously, I think I would’ve remembered having this kitten.”
Norbie, with his straight lines and well-engineered curves, still say that he was designed by Ferrari.
I know! It was such a wonderful occurrence – miracles do happen! Poor baby Norbie’s life started in a scary way, but everything has certainly turned out okay for him. I don’t think you could convince the Dragons that Norbert’s not really one of them!
Re your last question, Robyn, I’m betting on “Newtely Pattootely.” (Hmm, bookies are giving me strangely excellent odds.) Great to see Corbie outside of his expected Friday slot. Hugs to those lovely, lovebuggy Dragons: you’ve been a joy. May you find the best homes ever. And even if that takes a bit, the long run is what counts.
“Hmm, bookies are giving me strangely excellent odds”
Well yeah, now that you SAID it…
Heck, I’ll probably be calling my cats that before the week is out, and none of their names are anything close!
Sunshine and marshmallows? Wow! The best thing my cats’ feet ever smell like is, inexplicably, corn chips.
It might be a bad idea to mention here that my feet smell like corn chips, to the extent that my mother used to tear my room apart looking for my secret stash of Fritos, mightn’t it?
…uh-oh.
Norberts tum-tum has an extra pair of eyes (boy nipples..I know) but with the white stripes and the two little circles its like an ink blot test or a symmetry exercise on that boys belly!
I thought it was nips but upon closer inspection, it’s just white spots.
I see an Ewok’s face. The 2 eyes, and the goatee.
I see another tuxedo face. Complete with white-ish whiskers.
And above his head is the marshmallow fluff and silly putty being squeezed out.
Exactly what I see!! (the tuxedo face with whiskers)
I thought Badger!! but I wasn’t sure if you know what they look like over the pond!
I wish I could be as chilled out as Ruth and Norbert are in those pictures! And I’m cracking up at the whole Ember/Corbie foot-sniffing series. Who knew cat feet could smell so nice?
Also, is the typical age of the kittens about 3 months when they go to Petsmart? I know you’ve mentioned this before but I can’t remember how much time you get to spend with the little lovebugs before they’re off.
Yeah, 3 months is usually when they go off to Petsmart (assuming there’s room for them). They get their first vaccination at 9 weeks and their second at 12, and also their rabies shot at 10 – 12 weeks, so after all that’s done (along with their neutering), then they’re ready to go. 🙂
Not enough tribute has been paid to Scorch’s pink nose. It does me IN. Of course I was already weakened by the sight of Corbie’s caramel belly. And then the I’m-the-longest-kitten-in-the-world poses of Norbie and Ruthie. And Ember’s ears. What a goofball. Good luck, dragons.
Aww, I am going to miss the Dragons! :'( Such sweet babies. Here’s hoping for speedy adoptions for all of them!
Gettin’ real sick of dem kittehs growin’ up so fast. You need to do something about that.
I’m working on it!!! 🙂
Oh… I loved watching those Dragons grow up so very much!!! What a special little bunch. I hope all the rest find as good a home as Puff did — and pronto!
So THAT is what sunshine and marshmallows smell like!
Give Norbs a few extra kisses from me, I shall miss his fuzzy face, but I’m sure I’ll get all caught up in another kitten here right quick (I say you go kitten-nap Butter)
I second that! And his sisters.
LOL, Mister Scorch looks huge next to the Starks!!!
When babies go to Petsmart, do they take their names along with them? For example, when someone looks into adopting them, they say – “aw, look at Norbert! I’m going to adopt him and Scorch!”.
How much does Mister Corbie charge for his modelling gigs? Gorgeous boy…
They do keep their names – once they’re named, that’s who they are in “the system”, and that’s who they stay ’til they’re adopted and (usually) renamed. I think that if a cat is returned, even if it’s after several years, they still go by the name they were known by at Challenger’s House – I think it keeps record-keeping easier that way.
love the lunch line up 🙂
Aw, gee, I’m gonna miss Norbert’s little face ’round here. Heck, I’m gonna miss ALL the Dragons. But with faces like theirs, I know they’ll get snapped up in no time! Good luck, guys!
I showed my mom the picture of the 3 kittens and Tommy at the bowl (so I could show her Scorch’s cool orangeness), and she’s like “What is that black one, a mountain lion?!” I’m like, “no, the other ones are kittens, silly.”
They love to scatter their food far and wide? I have a foster room full of feral felines who love to scatter their litter far and wide. I almost hesitate to sweep it all up. They’re just going to put it back on the floor anyway.
