I was looking for a picture yesterday, and found a handful of pictures stashed in a folder labeled “tmp.” Apparently I intended to do something with them, but Current Robyn has no idea what Past Robyn was going to do, so I’ll share them in today’s post and we’ll pretend that was the plan all along. The first seven are pictures I took on the day I brought Spruce, Cypress and Juniper home (July 21st) to join Privet. The next two – Hemlock – are pictures I took the day I introduced him to his new siblings (July 24th). And the rest are pictures I took at the beginning of this month.
I can’t swear to it, but I suspect that Privet was watching the other three kittens explore the room.
“I don’t know why you thought you needed to bring more kittens home, lady. One Privet is more than enough.”
These next three pictures – Spruce and Privet – crack me up.
Juniper was NOT sure what she thought about this whole thing.
Hemlock was such a hot little mess that day.
He didn’t stray very far from me for the first week or so.
Spruce, keeping an eye on the feather teaser.
An outtake from when I was trying desperately to get a good picture of Cypress and Spruce together. Their faces crack me up – Cypress actin’ the fool, and Spruce saying “O lord, how much longer must I put up with this fool?”
Confession: my fingers keep trying to type “Jupiter” instead of “Juniper.” If you see it spelled wrong, please let me know so I can correct it!
(Planet names would be a good litter theme, wouldn’t it?)

We were reminded by Three Tiny Tabbies that today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, so…
Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!
In honor of the day, I replaced your regularly schedule permanent resident (Archie) with Maxi.
“LADY! Don’t you know that EVERY day is Black Cat Appreciation Day?! Now give me treats and make it snappy.”

Previously
2015: Our center is gone, and we are reeling.
2014: No entry.
2013: Hallo there, Norbs. You need a snuggle?
2012: And Wellington, you’re not so bad, either.
2011: The thing about Molly Peppers is that sometimes her mouth writes checks her Paw o’ Doom can’t cover.
2010: Something about grocery day really gets the Bookworms riled up.
2009: his hernia is FREAKIN’ ME OUT, MAN (also: Jake and Elwood show up!)
2008: No entry.
2007: (We don’t let Newt wander freely through the house, because being inside freaks him out and he’ll sit at the door to the outside and howl to go out. He’s not an indoor cat at ALL.)
2006: No entry.
2005: That’s just the way it seems to go for us.
I agree with Maxi, every day should be Black Cat Appreciation Day! And when your black cat is 19+ and was so sick 3 years ago that he was literally hours from having to be put down, you do appreciate every day.
I love the first pics today of Privet; she’s so floofy!
I love that pic of Maxi. Cute little teefs!
Happy Black Cat Day Maxi!!! (and the kittens)
[2007: “Newt is not an indoor cat at ALL.” hahaha]
I appreciate you Maxi!
and you were going to make a header with them..
Happy Black Cat day !!!! So many people miss out on being owned by a mini panther by not adopting black cats !!! Black cats are awesome !!!
A planetary and celestial cat theme would be so cool !!!!
They are gorgeous!
I love my house panther Allie!
And I just reread your post from last year remembering Tom Cullen and how wonderful he was. Fitting that it’s Black Cat Appreciation Day to remember him as well.
I teared up again re-reading Tommy’s tribute. I like to think that my two black kitties, Baal and Bast, have found Tommy at The Bridge and said “You always made our Mama smile when she read about you, so you are our friend!” 🙂
I get a giggle from 2007 Robyn. Newt: “He’s not an indoor cat at ALL.”
