I’m getting strong bengal vibes from wren and starling, what with the colouring/marking, and seeming very vocal. What do you think, Robyn?
Nothing would surprise me – I sure wish cat DNA test weren’t so expensive, I’d love to test them and see what their genetic backgrounds are!

Since Wren has some orange spots, would that make her a torbie?
Yep, she’s a torbie!

Do you think that, sometimes, their rough start can be a reason they aren’t the sharpest knife in the drawer? I wonder that, sometimes.
It’s certainly possible, though Wren had a pretty rough start too, and I would absolutely let her finish my Calculus homework (not that I’d be taking Calculus, but you get my point.) I think it really just depends on the kitten. Not everyone needs to be a rocket scientist, after all.

Tater looks like a gray fennec fox in that picture of her screaming for her meal (look for images of fennec foxes yawning, you’ll see what I mean).
She certainly does!

I reckon you can keep your Toasty cat bed and not be a monster, as cats are so fickle that she might love it when it’s at your house but be not remotely interested when it’s in a new house! Like when you move beds from one room to another, and suddenly they’re not remotely interesting anymore. I guess it’s like real estate: location, location, location.
It turns out that she seems to like any deep, cushiony bed – and lord knows we’ve got plenty of those around here, I’m sure I can spare one!

Wren, wondering if it might be time to eat.
I think Tater was fighting with the box. You know how those boxes can be.
It’s a three-way tussle between Wren (left), Starling and Rufous.
The tussle moved, and somewhere along the way they lost Starling.
The kittens now have the run of the entire house during the day, and Wren is keeping the dish towel in check.
It took them no time at all reacquaint themselves with the big cat tree in the living room.
Rufous and Newt had a stare-down.
Then Newt hissed and stomped away, and Rufous was like “What’s HIS problem?”
Rufous tried to make friends with Alice, and Alice said “I have enough friends, thank you” and punctuated it with a hiss.
As mentioned up there, the kittens now have the run of the entire house during the day. It took them no time at all to remember the downstairs, especially the kitchen. They definitely remember the kitchen counter where I used to stand and give them their bottle, because when I’m standing there they come and scream at me. They’re having a good time racing up and down the stairs, and from one end of the house to the other. The permanent residents are (mostly) tolerating them, though there’s the occasional hiss or smack from time to time. They go back into the foster room at bed time, and spend the night in there, which gives the permanent residents a break.
(“Why didn’t the Catsby kittens get to run around downstairs?” you might be wondering. Because Daisy was so protective of them that I didn’t want to chance her getting into a fight with Newt or Alice for hissing at her kittens and making them floof. If I had to do it over again, I’d probably put Daisy in the foster room and take her kittens downstairs to explore from time to time, but I was so distracted by the bottle babies that it didn’t even occur to me.)

Charlie did try to get the kittens to play at one point – they were on the cat tree, and he tried to play Slappy Paws with Wren, but all Wren did was poof and hiss at him. I’m sure once she’s used to Charlie she might play, but for now she’d rather not, thank you.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Wren (and her crazy whiskers) are taking a moment out from chasing her tail to wish you a good morning! 🌞
Look at former fosters (from late 2020) Kiki (previously Calamity Jane) and Mr. Mustachio (formerly Davy Crockett)! They got a new cat tree, and they clearly approve. (Sarah reports that Kiki is half Mr. Mustachio’s size, but she rules the roost.)

I’m not sure the Nestlings are that into chasing the toys I’m tossing for them. Maybe they’ll get the hang of it eventually… or not. We’ll see!
Tater looooves the CatLadyBox (cutting a hole in the top was one of my better decisions!)

First Starling finishes up a fight with Tater, and then she goes and starts one with Wren.
I love when I manage to get all 4 kittens in one picture. From left: Wren, Rufous, Starling & Tater.
Good night innernets. (Starling)
