Tater’s all “You wanna piece of me?”
“WREN. You wanna piece of me? Let’s GO!”
And Wren went. (Tater’s Open Mouth of Outrage cracks me up.)
Tater says “I don’t know what I expected, but I didn’t think she’d win so quickly.”
Wren atop one of the scratchers, eyeballing the other one while Starling comes up to see what’s going on.
And there goes Wren! (She did, indeed, make it to the other scratcher.)
Rufous atop the same scratcher.
There he goes! He also stuck the landing.
All four kittens were on the Ham-mick sleeping when I walked into the room, but of course before I could get a picture, Tater came stomping over to me. (Starling’s face is killing me. “WE WAS SLEEPIN’.”)
The kittens, as you can see, have the run of the upstairs. They’re enjoying it quite a bit, and this means that kitten nap time is taking place regularly because I feel it’s my sworn duty to train kittens to be good nap time companions. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!

Alice can usually be found one of two places these days: on the back of the recliner on this blanket*, or in her bed on the couch. She almost never goes out onto the screened porch any more, but with as hot as it’s been lately I certainly don’t blame her.
*Fred started that blanket and decided he didn’t like the pattern or the yarn (I don’t remember which). He was going to throw it away, but I thought it would be perfect on the back of the recliner, and apparently Alice agrees. (I think it’s one of the prettiest things he’s made.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Starling and the Precious Moments eyes. I love that ring of blue-green around the edge of her iris, it’s so pretty.
Wren had a lot to say, but it’s really Starling who’s cracking me up here. Her EYES – she’s clearly thinking “Wait, we’re allowed to talk to the lady like that?!”

Watching Tater and Rufous fight, while snuggling with Wren and Starling. I don’t want to cast aspersions on anyone’s character, but it sure seems like a LOT of these fights involve Tater, who appears to be instigating them. (She’s little, but she’s fierce!)
I got out the stepladder to hang something over the closet door, and Wren came to snoopervise. She likes it when things are done correctly the FIRST time.

Napping with kittens: I highly recommend. (This right here is what I earned for those weeks of bottle feeding these guys every two hours, something I thought would never end – and then it did. Now they’re healthy, happy, and super snuggly lovebugs who eat on their own and take naps with me, and I am not complaining one tiny bit. It was 100% worth that sleep deficit (which I am still trying to recover from!)
If you ever wondered who’s in charge of letting me know that the kittens are STARVINGGGGG, I think this picture makes it pretty clear. Tater screams the loudest and hardest of any kitten ever when she’s waiting for her canned food.
Good night innernets. (Rufous)

Alice’s afghan is SOOO pretty. We likes rainbows!
Tater looks like a gray fennec fox in that picture of her screaming for her meal (look for images of fennec foxes yawning, you’ll see what I mean).
I envy you those snuggly lovebugs! I wish I could cuddle them. Seriously, it is *so* fantastic to know how well they’re doing after their rough start. That’s all down to you and Fred.
*reads comments* Alice is on a rainbow blanket? Aww. Calicos and rainbows seem to go together.
