Note: if the site looks weird in the days to come, it’s because I’m working on a redesign so that I can toss the outdated theme (and its many plug-ins) I’ve been using for many years now. It’ll probably be fairly similar to the theme I’ve been using, but I’m sure there will be differences because it’s been a LONG time since I messed around with blog appearances so I don’t entirely remember how to do what I want to do. (Which is more information than you need, but if the site looks different there’s nothing weird going on. Well, nothing weirder than usual anyway.)

I’m back! Didya miss me? Well, here’s a super-sized post for you in case you’re a non-social media type person.
I kept meaning to mention this on the social media pics, but forgot: the kittens are now all adoption pending. Starling and TaterPlover are being adopted together, and Rufous and Wren are being adopted together. They’re all being spayed/neutered on August 2nd. Then Starling and Tater will go home on the 7th, and I’m not sure when Rufous and Wren will be going home, because I haven’t heard back from the adopter yet.
Yay for pending adoptions!

Hi – I’ve been having problems with being able to send you things from your wish list for some time now. When I click an item, a blank page comes up. Doesn’t matter which item, all do it. I’ve used it before and worked out well. Can you reach out to me privately so perhaps I can get you some wish items another way. Thank you.
Is anyone else having this issue with the wish list? I have no idea what the problem could be, it’s working okay for me.
But just FYI, packages can always be sent to:

Did I pick up Starling and give her 1,000 kisses after I took this picture? Indeed I did!
Tater from above (also received 1,000 kisses.)
Rufous keeps my seat warm while waiting for me to come back.
And Rufous poses on the back of the couch.

Charlie on the left, Newt on the right. And yes, Charlie really is that much bigger than Newt – Charlie is 18 pounds (8.16 KG) and Newt is 10 pounds (4.54 KG.) I don’t remember what they were looking at, but it seems likely that it was one of the kittens.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) over the past week.
Judging by those faces (Wren on the left, Tater/Plover on the right), I wasn’t invited to this meeting and I’m not welcome to join. Kinda looks like someone’s about to get fired (I hope it’s not me.)
Starling is just such a pretty, pretty girl. (That one eyebrow whisker looks like it’s gone a bit rogue.)

Wren’s feelin’ kneady.
This dust bunny is giving me some attitude. (Tater/Plover)
YouTube link
Tossing toys for the Nestlings, who aren’t sure what to think about the fact that I cleaned their room, but are all about chasing the toys.
BFFs Wren and Rufous, hanging out together. (It looks like Rufous is much smaller than Wren, but it’s the angle. He actually weighs 1 ounce more than she does!)
Starling and the Open Mouth of Outrage. (I think she had just spotted Tater and was inviting her to bring it ON.)
YouTube link
Rufous and the best toy ever!
I cannot even stand how ridiculously adorable Tater(Plover) is – she just keeps getting floofier and ever more adorable.
YouTube link
Starling has a purrrr. (And so does Rufous, whose whiskers you can see off to the left.)
Good night innernets. (Rufous)
Wren is waiting impatiently for the sun to come shining through that window. It’s her favorite part of the day! (Right behind breakfast, lunch, dinner and nap time.)
Starling started that tussle with Rufous, but look at her little appalled face – “Can you BELIEVE he treats me like this? I am but a wee baby!”
YouTube link
Wren’s taking down the castle, bite by bite, and Rufous is showing Starling the proper (crazy) way to play with the track toy.
Tater(Plover) looks so bemused – “Wherever I go, there you are takin’ pictures, lady.”
YouTube link
Tater(Plover) and Rufous have a purrrr.
Good night innernets. (Starling, using Wren as a pillow.)
Rufous and Wren are having a hard time getting going this morning.
Starling has SUCH a serious little face, but is such a sweet little purrbaby. All you have to do is glance at her and she purrs like crazy.
YouTube link
It’s play time in the kitten room, and Wren is finally starting to show off her jumpin’ skills. Rufous finds his beloved spring. Tater/Plover’s all over the place. And Starling joins in there at the end!
Wren’s all “Watchin’ you, lady. WATCHING. YOU.”
YouTube link
Nearly 1 minute of Wren purring.
Good night innernets. (Tater/Plover)
Wren, Tater(Plover) and Starling are just hanging out on the couch, waiting for breakfast.
Poor Rufous was snoozing atop the cat tree. Then Wren and Starling came to join him, have been slowly pushing him off the end and Wren ain’t sorry.

A visit with permanent resident Uncle Khal (whose nickname is “Floomp” and “Floompy”) and the Nestlings. He is fabulous, and they know it.
Tater/Plover is clearly thinking “Total rookie mistake, lady.” (Hanging the fresh roll of toilet paper directly over the litter box – smart move, Robyn.)
YouTube link
I guess the tub is the place to be! Wren’s chasing her tail (of course) and Rufous appears to be doing laps.
Good night innernets. (Rufous)
Well that’s ONE way to sit in that chair, Wren.
YouTube link
Taterception: Tater(Plover) watching Tater, watching Tater. It’s Taters all the way down.
If you’d told me when I took that hours-old gray tabby kitten that she was going to turn into THIS gorgeous little floofball, I’d… well, I’d have totally believed you. But I certainly didn’t expect it! (Tater/Plover)
YouTube link
Tater(Plover) hanging out in the sun, Rufous and Starling fighting next to me… and then here comes Wren! While you might be inclined to feel sorry for poor wee Tater, you’ll note that every time Wren goes to walk away, Tater grabs her for another round.
Good night innernets. (Rufous)
The kittens have taken over Fred’s writing chair and are all “We can write a book if we want to. It’s gonna be a best-seller!” (Pic taken by Fred.)
Tater/Plover’s having an existential crisis.
YouTube link
Hanging out in the kitchen with Tater(Plover), who is picking a fight with Rufous (who decides he doesn’t want to share his toys). Then along come Wren and Starling. The gang’s all here!
Wren’s all 🎶I can buy myself flowers….🎶
YouTube link
Leapin’ kittens. (One of these days I’m going to set up the camera on a tripod and make a really good video of the kittens leaping so that I can slow them down and we can really appreciate their jumping skills.) (To be clear: I will never actually DO that, but I sure will think about it a lot.)
Good night innernets. (From a very smug Wren and Rufous, who have taken over my chair.)

Welcome back! While you are re-doing the site, we could certainly use a banner of this adorable bunch. Maybe all the “Goodnight innernets” pics where it’s just the sleeping headshot.
Yes, there are many banners that need to be done. It’s on my list.
Amazon site worked fine for me.
Thanks, Irene!
Too good not to share. Cat mom asks dog to “babysit”.

That dog’s face is KILLING ME.
I was amazed at your crowd of hummingbirds – our feeder gets one at a time and each chases any others away! So many adorable pictures of The Nestlings, but I like them meeting Uncle Khal, and Plover watching Plover watching Plover!
For the first year or so, we’d see maybe 2 – 3 at a time. Then came last Fall (when I assume they were moving south) and I was having to refill all the feeders at least once a day for a week or so. This summer, we’ve got 10 or so hummingbirds flitting around and I absolutely love it!
Re the Amazon problem – maybe try a different browser? Firefox or Chrome? I occasionally have that problem with a couple of sites and switching browsers usually fixes it for some unknown reason.
Thanks! I think that either switching browsers or clearing their cache might be what they need to do.
Of course you should please yourself, but I can’t help hoping the design doesn’t change too much – I have a Pavlovian happy response to your current page colors after all this time. (I don’t know why, but I was ridiculously pleased that the new paint in the current foster room more closely resembles the foster room at Crooked Acres!)
If I could make the new design match this one exactly, I’d be happy – but that is pretty much beyond my skill set. (The redesign has been coming for years – the themebuilder I’ve used to run the site is horribly out of date and isn’t being supported by the creator anymore. And it’s breaking my site every few months or so. The site is being held together by spit and duct tape, and at this point the outdated theme/builder is stopping a crucial update. So it’s gotta happen, as much as I don’t want to and as much as I hate having to poke around figuring out how things work.) I’m hoping to keep the colors the same and to have the same basic two-column setup with the changing banner at the top.
