What companies make the kitty harnesses. I’m interested in getting one for my 3 year old 12 lbs. tuxedo named Ms.Kitty. We live in Loxley,Alabama and sometimes evacuate during hurricanes and want her to be safe when having to relocate and travel. Thanks!
They’re sold by FIDA on Amazon – here’s the link to where I bought them.

Okay, cat crew, I have a question for the house. Have you ever met a cat who steals lettuce leaves out o the salad bowl and eats them? I don’t mind – I know cats chew on grass, so I expect this is the same urge – but I’ve never seen that before. This particular cat is a purrsonality and a half, so her being a weirdo is nothing new, but this is a new behavior. Thoughts?
That’s a new one on me, but Camilla said: Oh yes, for sure. My last cat was actually called ‘Lettuce’, and he ate everything. Lettuce, onions, pickles, anything. He was constantly hungry, and no food could be left out. So funnily enough, what you’re describing feels pretty normal according to my cat experience lol!
How about it – any other cat salad eaters out there?

With those big eyes she looks like a tarsier. So cute!
You know, I had no idea that I knew what a Tarsier is, but the instant I read the word I knew! (And yes, she does!)

Natalie and the Precious Moments eyes.
She’s keeping those eyes on me.
Sometimes the belly is a trap, and sometimes it is not. I got too handsy yesterday and got a double-slapperoo for my troubles.
If we see kittens this weekend, I will be VERY surprised. (But if we do, I’ll be sure to post something here as well as on social media. But don’t hold your breath.)

Here are three permanent residents we don’t generally see so close to each other – Khal and Charlie on the floor, Alice on the couch. (Newt was snoozing in Fred’s room on the bed.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
For Throw Back Thursday, first we have a shot of what Natalie’s belly currently looks like, and then we have belly shots of 8 of our previous pregnant mamas (and the number of kittens each mama had.)
(This is not all the pregnant cats we’ve had – Natalie is our 19th pregnant cat since 2008, but I didn’t get stand-up belly pics of all of them.)
Okay, IN MY DEFENSE, I put that fish toy down and touched it so it’d flop around. When it stopped, I touched it again so she’d see that WHEN YOU TOUCH THE FISHY it FLOPS. Apparently that lesson didn’t sink in, so I don’t feel (too) bad about the fact that she walked over to it, sniffed it, and it started flopping, which clearly startled her, which made me laugh. (She is not, at this point, a fan of the floppity fish.)

Natalie is a biscuit-making pro.
Good night innernets. (Natalie)

My cat loves swiss Chard and bean leaves plus he’s tasted a number of other leaves as well.
Ha! Okay, so the little fuzzy nutball isn’t alone. Thank you, Lori, Camille, and Robyn!
I have been following you since the Outlander kittens, so I don’t know about how you got your permanent residents. Can you tell us? I love the kittens, but I am always excited when you post about your permanent residents. My favorite is Old man Newt! Thanks!
If this works it’s a link to the permanent residents section of this website, fingers crossed!

Thank you! It worked!
We have a cat that will steal and eat all undefended broccoli. Also, all our cats absolutely adore the leaves on top of a pineapple. Weirdos!
My cat loves all the greens – her special favorite is raw broccoli.
I can’t believe you got a picture of Natalie levitating after the fish startled her. That’s fantastic.
I was thrilled when I realized I’d captured it!
I have a cat who loves arugula! If I get a bag out she’ll immediately get on the counter and try to grab some bites.
We just found out this week that olives make our cats, who don’t like catnip, act like they are on catnip. I had to give them the plastic bowl in which my husband had his evening snack of a few green olives, they were going nuts! Turns out, olives have a compound in common with catnip, but not Kong’s catnip, coz that gets no reaction. Huh.
Goober also steals lettuce out of salad bowls. In self defense, he gets a pile of romaine or greens of his own so he’ll let me make my salad in piece. Cucumber, tomatoes, and peppers (not hot, obviously) are also favorites, especially red, yellow and orange peppers, and he LOVES green beans, and has been known to steal them from my plate (leaving the macaroni and cheese untouched – clearly he has no taste.)
And I once found a previous cat with his head down a jar of salsa.
I once had a cat who liked salami! I think it was the saltiness of it.
Also, I learned something new about animals. I thought the tarsier was a bush baby. upon looking things up, they are “cousins” but very different. This is a very educational website!
My boy Bailey loves lettuce leaves! I have to give him one every time I make a salad, and he snarfs them down like there’s no tomorrow!
I had one way back who would go after the iceberg lettuce. We couldn’t leave it out. He was also the one that would tear into a bag of flour! Such a goober!
I looked after a couple of Persians who looooved lettuce. Put a couple of (rather large) leaves on the floor and they would be gone in seconds. That was my first greens experience with cats. One of my current crew will eat bits of lettuce, cabbage, etc. if I offer it to him, but usually if it’s only been in my food/on my plate first. 🙂
My current kitty doesn’t seem to want any people food except maybe chicken. However, my friend’s cat loves apples & has even gotten one out of the cabinet that she tried to hide. Also, tomatoes. She has a real hard time eating an apple without the cat in her face.
My tuxie boy LOVES the outer leaves of corn on the cob, parsley, celery leaves.
Wow. I had no idea that cats did this! So funny. Thanks, everyone.
I used to have finches and would feed them frozen veggies every day. My cats (at the time) all needed to be part of that feeding routine, too! Mainly mixed veggies (corn, carrots, peas).
I miss that crew.
We had a cat at the rescue who loved nori (the dry sheets used for sushi). It was the only treat she liked.
Squeek loved broccoli.
My big boy, Oliver loves lettuce! When I have salad I have to fight him off or I think he would eat the whole thing. He’s not the only one I’ve had who loved greens!
Our Ingrid used to absolutely love veggies. When she was younger we learned that we couldn’t leave any veggies out because she’d help herself – salad greens, fresh tomatoes (her personal favorite), etc.
The Oreo Cat in Canada luvs cantaloupe!! I’ve also watched vids of cats eating watermelon.
There are some human foods that cats should not eat, they can cause serious digestive issues, some are toxic and can be fatal.
onions, garlic, leeks, scallions, shallots, and chives
Grapes and raisins
Macadamia nuts, almonds, pecans, and walnuts
lemons, limes, oranges, clementines, and grapefruits
chocolate
coffee
alcohol
Bread dough containing yeast
Coconut flesh and coconut water
Dairy
Raw eggs
Raw or undercooked meat and fish
Salt
Xylitol
The list is from the ASPCA.

The late great Bustopher Jones loved lettuce, broccoli, and the heads of roses. Some kitties just dig greens!
Yes, my all-white cat, Katrina, liked LEAF lettuce (only), red or green. But she found it hard to eat on her own, I had to hold it up so she could chew on it.
Many of my cats have been interested in tomatoes when I slice them, but they lose interest when I let them sniff.
I do believe Miss Natalie might be a Devon Rex. They, like Siamese, don’t have the protein in their saliva that stirs up allergies. I think my Cleo (FKA Candy Apple) has some in her mix, especially with her Siamese brother, Charlie (FKA Snowcone). She doesn’t stir up my allergies, like my daughter’s Ragdoll, the only other non-siamese! Of course no cat is truly hypoallergenic, but as allergic as I am to 1 of our 6 cats, I know I require the closest I can get! My bet is on 3-4 babies, given her petite stature and young age. Here’s some info and I think it describes Natalie quite well: https://www.thesprucepets.com/devon-rex-cat-breed-profile-4693660
Thanks! I wish DNA testing wasn’t a HUNDRED DOLLARS, or I’d totally have it done on her.
