Just a very very quick post to let y’all know that we are in the new house, the move went very well, and after waking me every 15 minutes (KHAL)(JAKE) the first night, the cats adjusted quickly and are staking out their new favorite spots. We’ve allowed them on the back porch a few times, which Archie loved and the rest of them were a little wary about. We haven’t let them into the back yard because the cat fence hasn’t been installed (by Fred) yet. And we want them to get to know this house as home before we allow them into the back yard anyway. I imagine it’ll be 2 – 3 weeks before they can venture into the back yard.
This move is kicking my butt – I’m getting too old for this, I swear. And I clearly did not appreciate all those built-ins at the last house nearly enough, because I keep wondering HOW we have so much STUFF and WHERE we’re gonna put it. (Fortunately, there’s a large storage shed in the side yard, so that helps.)
The foster room currently looks like this, and there are about 15 – 20 more boxes of kitten room stuff in the garage that needs to be brought upstairs.
I have a ton of errands to run today, and then will start working on the kitten room. (The rest of the house is not 100% sorted, but it’s starting to reach livable status.)
Oh, and 52 hours after we listed the house we moved out of, we accepted an offer. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly with that!
Charlie’s not sure about this carpet stuff (there’s carpet in the master bedroom and office, which will be replaced once we’ve closed on the other house. We had the carpet in the upstairs replaced – they did it the day before we moved – and absolutely love it.)
Archie’s got a hair-trigger temper, but this move has not fazed him one tiny bit.
I don’t expect I’ll be posting on the blog again this week, but will definitely be back on schedule to start posting as usual beginning next Monday. Keep your fingers crossed that I get the rest of this house unpacked in a timely manner so I can relax a little!

K
Seconded! Especially the breaks part!
Congratulations on the successful move and sale of the old house, hugs and kisses to all the kitties as they settle in!
Yay for the hard part being over and congrats on the offer for the old house! Fingers and paws crossed for a quick closing!
And take it easy on the unpacking. You’ve got time now!
Glad the permies are settling in without mishap. The true test will be when you let them outside. Talk about suspense!
Have you noticed any critters wandering your property yet? Wonder what surprises await you there?!
Glad to know that all went well for all of you. Mr. Archie looks already settled in. Can’t wait to see the new kitten room. The other was really lovely. Loved those heart shaped mirrors where the little guys and gals could look to check out their handsomeness and beauty.
So excited to see you in the new place, I’ve been eagerly awaiting news and images and hoping all goes well for you. Good luck with lugging boxes and making everything nice!
Great update!! Uggh, moving is SO HARD. But glad to hear that you’re getting there and that the kitty cats are settling in. Sir Archie does look rather comfy, for sure.
Great news! I’m glad the move went well, and that the Permanents are adjusting.
Best wishes for getting it done. Makes ME tired just reading about it.
Awesome! Glad the move went well and the cats are good! Oh, and you and Fred too of course… 😉 After all, without you, there’d be no pictures of kittens! And Jake! Must smooch Jake someday!
So glad you’re moved, and there’s a sale in progress, and the felines are getting adjusted! Best wishes on getting things arranged and unpacked and organized…looking forward to progress reports!
Do you still have the Kia Soul,
(12-11-17 Monday)
The cats were split into three sets for their stay at the vet – Jake, Alice, Kara and Joe Bob together; Stefan, Dewey, Khal and Frankie together; Newt, Maxi and Archie together.
Hope the move went well.
