In case you missed it on social media or over there on the sidebar (I am very pleased with myself for getting that sidebar updated so quickly!), Zelda and Myrtle were adopted and headed home on Saturday! They are now residents of Illinois (the general Chicago area), and are now Opal (Myrtle) and Ruby (Zelda). I met the adopters in Nashville (to help make the drive a bit shorter), and the girls were absolutely silent the entire way. In the days leading up to Saturday, I took them on three test drives so they’d be used to being in the crate in the back of my car, and those girls never uttered a sound. In fact, when I had been on the road for about half an hour on Saturday, I had a sudden fear that perhaps I’d forgotten to put them in the crate and drove off without them. (Fortunately, they were just being super quiet.)
Today’s pictures are the last ones I have that include them (though the adopter has promised me updates, which of course I will share!)
Myrtle and her favorite toy (which, of course, went home with her! Plus an extra or two.)
Zelda and Nick (and I LOVE the way the flash threw their shadows up on the wall behind them.)
Zelda shows off (kinda) her little shaved belly.
This is the sign of kittens who haven’t spent much time in the carrier, obviously. Daisy was over there, well away from the carrier, watching to be sure I wasn’t about to pick her up. (That’s the carrier I use to transfer the kittens from the house to the crate in the back of my car, so I’m sure they could smell previous kittens on that carrier.)
Sleepy little slackers. (Left to right: Zelda, Nick, Jay, Myrtle.)
“Lady, I’m keeping an eye on you.”
Myrtle’s hanging out with Jay.
If you think that belly went un-poked, you don’t know me at all.
Family portrait – back to the room where they were born. On the left tree: Daisy and Zelda. On the right tree, from top: Jay, Nick and Myrtle.
And the very last family portrait: waiting for breakfast.
Daisy and the boys will be headed to Petsmart in the next few days or so. I’d love to keep them here until they’re adopted, but they’ve been available for weeks (Daisy’s been available for at least a month), and there’s been no interest. They need to be where more people can see them, and so to Petsmart they’ll go.
Though they’ll be at Petsmart, they will still be Forgotten Felines of Huntsville cats. Forgotten Felines volunteers spend hours every day cleaning, feeding and playing with the cats who are housed there, and Forgotten Felines will still handle the adoption. Hopefully they’ll be adopted quickly, but if need be, they can always take a break at Michelle’s or back here with us (room permitting.)

Wren goes trotting through the sunshine.
It’s a triple kitten pie! Rufous, Wren and TaterPlover.
Starling is appalled that I’d rub her belly without asking permission first.
Rufous looks like he needs a nap.
Wren’s all “Wait, where ya going?!”
Once Daisy and the boys head off to Petsmart, the Nestlings will take ownership of the foster room. Someone in this house (FRED) is really annoyed by the fact that he can’t walk into the dining room without kittens escaping, and would like his dining room back, thank you. So he’ll get it back… but he better be ready to do some sanding and painting next weekend! (Who am I kidding? He’ll do the sanding, I’ll do the painting, and I’ll be hating it the entire time.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
Coming soon to stores near you – Dr. Rufous Thunder’s AWARD-WINNING Diet plan! SO easy to follow, and when you’re done you might be ALMOST as cute as Dr. Rufous Thunder himself!
Step 1: Be hungry all the time unless you’re not. (If you’re not hungry, scream like you are anyway.)
Step 2: Scream until someone feeds you unless you don’t want what they’ve offered, and then scream until they give you something different. Fun alternative: scream until they give you something different and THEN go back and eat the first thing they offered.
Step 3: Eat until you are full. Alternatively: eat one bite, make a disgusted face, and then “cover” the food before stomping away (don’t forget the disgusted face. Hold it as long as you can.)
Step 4: Race around like your butt is on fire until you collapse in a heap, and then sleep like the dead.
Repeat 1 zillion times a day, and there you go. That’s it! How simple and easy is that? Now tell all your friends and make Dr. Rufous Thunder a millionaire, please and thank you.

Zelda and Myrtle just hanging out and being adorable. As they do!
Hooray, hooray, Zelda & Myrtle were adopted today! They are headed home right this moment to Illinois, where they will be very much loved. Zelda is now Ruby and Myrtle is now Opal (great names!) and they don’t have a Facebook or Instagram page, but I’ve been promised updates (which of course I’ll share.) Happy life, sweet girls!
(Side note: yes, the toys in that suitcase (plus more) went home with them – but the suitcase is just a prop and stays here with us. I always send favorite toys home with fosters!)
It’s a Jay pie with a side of Nick (my favorite)!
Daisy’s in her new favorite nappin’ spot.

Tater (Plover), Rufous, and Wren show off their skitterbug skills, while Starling just hangs out in my lap.

That’s a full Tater*, right there.

It’s a snuggly nap time for Nick and Jay.

Wren, Tater/Plover, and Starling explore the downstairs. Note: I don’t recall where Rufous was (he may have briefly popped into another dimension as kittens so often do), but you can rest assured that he does still exist, just not in this particular video.
Good night innernets. (Starling with the properly crossed paws because she’s a LAYDEE.)

That certainly works! 🙂
I’m always amazed by all the different colors of kitten in a litter.
Hooray about Zelda and Myrtle! Enjoy your new home.
Dr. Rufous’ diet plan sounds easy (and also hilarious)!
Also, the boop picture could also be a “Don’t look Ethel” picture.
Such fun this morning!
What’s a sidebar? I’ve never seen one. There is a banner on the top. I’ve been following for a couple of years.
The sidebar is truly on the side of looking on a computer, otherwise if on your phone – and you’ve switched to “Full” view in upper right corner…. Then the sidebar shows up at the bottom…. Below these comments.
…well if FULL view, on the right side OR below…
Teresa’s right – it’s either on the right side of the page or underneath the comments, depending on how you’re looking at it. It’s where the calendar and all the links are located.
Hooray for Opal (Myrtle) and Ruby (Zelda)!!
“… I had a sudden fear that perhaps I’d forgotten to put them in the crate and drove off without them”; this is 100% something I could see myself doing (thinking) too, and it made me laugh.
As for the Dr. Rufous Thunder’s AWARD-WINNING Diet plan, that is COMEDY GOLD!! 🙂
I have never heard of Dr Thunder (i guess we don’t have it in the UK) and it sounds ridiculously excellent. I want some! Also the diet plan sounds excellent, lol, must try immediately.
It’s the cheap Walmart version of Dr. Pepper. I don’t drink it myself, so I can’t say whether it’s any good or not. 🙂
