Hello, can you tell me what type of pee pad you purchased for this and where? This is a wonderful idea! I too have a very large comforter that my washer hates 🙂
The one on Fred’s bed is this one and it measures 35″x80″ – I like it because we can kind of put it corner to corner, and it covers most of the bed (Newt likes to sleep in the center). I also have a ton of pads in 34″x36″ (like these) that I use with kittens a lot (in the bottom of crates, in front of litter boxes and the corners of rooms when they’re first figuring out the litter box) and I like them because they’re smaller and easier to deal with. But Carolyn is right – they come in all kinds of sizes from lots of different sellers, you can Google and find them in lots of different places.

The minor indignities of senior status, eh Newt? *pets his mostly-spry orange self* For whatever reason, I imagine him as one of those sleekly soft, borderline plush shorthair kitties. Not quite velvet, but thick-furred and fluffy.
Newt’s fur looks soft, almost like velour, but when you touch it, it’s actually quite coarse. I’d say it’s a matter of old age, but it’s always been that way. We tried vitamins and omega-3s when he was younger, but it’s always been that same coarse consistency (which doesn’t stop us from petting him as much as he’ll let us, of course!)
Between the Nestlings and the Catsby kittens (and Daisy!), you have a houseful of purrbabies right now! Who’s the loudest purrer of the current foster crowd?
That’s a good question, and I would have to say that right now, Starling and Plovetater are tied for the loudest purrs. Wren and Rufous are right behind them, though. The Catsbys are finally finding their purrs (as seen in recent videos) – it’s been my experience that kittens who are fostered with their mother tend to wait until they’re a bit older before they purr for the humans. But they are definitely starting to do it!

Back in 2020, we fostered a litter of kittens we called the Mewsketeers. Two of them – Constance and Rochefort – were adopted together. This is what they looked like back then:
They are now Oleander and Rhus, and they are 3 years old today! We got a great update and pictures from Cat.
JUNE 16 2023
oh goodness me the sillymuffins are three!!
so here is a big update on muffinlife and muffenry.
oleander and rhus continue to be the highlight of my life and our home.
they remain ever vigilent in upholding their important muffin jobs.such as rhus escorting me to the bathroom, hunting the wayward beetle, holding the chair down for his meemeow,or yodeling in the kitchen. and oleander poking at her pawpaws office things, greeting evryone at the door, slapping toys down the steps,letting me know when its time to get up, and bathing her brother (who she apprently thinks is quite dirty). as well as their many other important dutys about the house.
recently the muffins have taken up new snoopervision operations by helping their meemeow and pawpaw clean out the study of old storage as they start to prepair to turn it into an office aria sence my father retierd. as well helping me go threw old storage as i get rid of and orginize things to have more space. this means boxes and bags and files geting moved all the time! and the muffins take their part in all of this very seriusly. oleander must take me around and inspect evrything after it is moved and perhaps poke afew things if she deems them in the wrong place,and must correct us by putting them in the floor.and rhus must investigate evry single bag and box, to make sure there isnt thing weird (or perhaps chewible) hidden there. he must also take spare bits of bubblewrap, for science, becuase clearly we humans have to much of it.
both muffins have gotten used to the harness and ejoy porch/garden time with wtih me. rhus has gotten braver in all his adventures and paticularly enjoys going to roll around under the birdfeeder and by the bushes. he is quite sure that he will eventualy get one of those red birds,i am equely sure he will not. ollie lolly likes to spend most of her harness time rolling on the warm porch or looking for bugs by the stone/briks. but will ocasinaly venture to check out a plant or two befor laying down in the warm sun.
oleander has also taken to meeping at the front door ,paticularly in the morning, and asking for us to open the main door so she can look out the window of the glass door, and then come and get me when she is ready to go out on her harness.
rhus has a new mission of trying to catch the light fairy, no matter how many times i tell him that is light reflecting off the refridurator he is not to be disswaded! ollie lolly is thrilled with the new tv as it opens up the old stand for her to lay on or perch upon as she awaits unsuspecting toys to slither by.
most recently they have taken to looking inside my bag when i come home from anywhere, because my boyfreind sends them toys or treats sometimes. so we will walk by and see the back end of a muffin sticking out of someones bag or purse and we say they are “going shopping”.
they still snuggle the warmy mat that came home with them ,play with their bread toy,and the little sqaure catnip bag. and somtimes if rhus is suuuuuuper sleepy and i ask in teh right voice he will ocasinaly confirm that he is infact still ‘da baby”. both continue to tackle sparkballs and sale across the livingroom in their pirateship. they get many snuggles and kisses threw out the day and night and frequently endure me singing nonsence to them.
they are my world and continue to be the sorce of much happyness and laughter.
i cant beleave they are already three!!! time has flown by!
best wishes to you all.
the muffins mama ,Cat .
Thank you so much, Cat! (For those of you who aren’t already following them, you can see them right here on Facebook!)

I put that clear lucite thing on the floor when I’m at my computer (it goes over my keyboard when I’m not at my computer), and the kittens love to hang out on it and under it and near it. Zelda likes to press her back feet against it.
Daisy’s catching up on her sleep.
Myrtle’s all “This is gonna go in my bag of toys right, lady?” Yes, ma’am!
Jay’s keeping the scratcher bowl warm for Daisy.
Just hanging out on their castle.
Oh, that Nick. He is so sleek and gorgeous!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wren looks like she’s about ready for a nap.
Rufous picked a fight with Starling and got a claw to the lip for his troubles. (Yes, we’ve since trimmed their claws.)
Starling’s all “I sees you, lady.”
Line ’em up! From left: Starling, Rufous, Plovetater & Wren.
Plovetater stomps around with her tail up as far as she can possibly get it.
Starling discovered that the big cat tree comes with a view.
Alice has no desire to be an “aunt” to those kittens.
This is what the first feeding of the day (which happens around 6 am) looks like these days: feeding Starling, who takes foreverrrr, watching the others play, and occasionally commiserating with Tater.
Zelda, Jay and Myrtle are all “Whattaya MEAN you put the laundry “away”? We weren’t done gnawing on the socks!”
Another generation of kittens addicted to the green bean toy! Tater has claimed this one as her very own.
(Note: I got my green beans from CatLadyBox, but they’ve since sold out. You can find them on Etsy, here.)
Nick is one good-lookin’ house panther.
I got out the bubble shooter for the Catsbys again. At this point, they find the bubbles interesting, but not fascinating.
Jay’s got the feather teaser and he is NOT sharing it. And Daisy is feelin’ gooood.
Good night innernets. (Rufous and Starling)
Starling’s face in the “big cat tree comes with a view” picture…! Is there anything sweeter than a kitten? No. No, there is not.
Love it when those foster updates come through!
I love foster updates.
Thank you Cat D! What sweet muffins!
Squeeeeee, look who’re three! Thank you for the update, Cat D. Those kitties are clearly loved, and just as darling as they were when they were bitty rescued kittens.
Speaking of darling creatures, coarse fur, fine fur, either way they’re still a pleasure to pet. Some kitties just have rougher coats; I knew a big sweetie of an orange tabby lap lion who was like that. He would literally wander off of his home property to go visit the summer camp nearby, concerning his people in the process, because he *adored* kids. Imagine our delight as campers when all of a sudden oh my goodness, it’s a kitty cat! I recall him being returned to his humans at least twice. He made many tweenage Wisconsinites’ days, and a few adults’ days as well.
That’s a roundabout way of saying, all the pets to Newt. 🙂
That update from Cat on the muffins is hilarious and adorable!
