Lucy’s Fools are now TWO months old! Well, officially they won’t be two months old ’til this evening, but I think we’re close enough.
Here’s each kitten, at 3 days old and at 2 months old.
And just so he isn’t left out, here’s Carlin at 6 1/2 weeks old!
Here’s another picture of each kitten, though they’re getting bratty and stubborn and not inclined to pose nicely for me anymore. Hmph!
Belushi. Okay, he posed pretty nicely, I’ll admit.
What was I complaining about? Gilda’s got a pretty little pose going on, too.
Louis, refusing to look my way.
Rickles, not posing (but check out the length of that tail and those giant rabbit feet!)
Roseanne, either giving me the Eyes of Lurve or attitude – it’s kind of hard to tell, sometimes.
Shecky and the bratty teenage “Are we almost DONE?!”
Skelton. “I not look at you, weird lady. You too weird.”
Carlin, 6 1/2 weeks old and giving me the attitude.
Here’s what nursing looked like back in mid-April:
And what it looks like now:
You’ll note that in the first and third nursing pictures, Carlin is right there in the middle. He’s staked out a prime spot, and when Lucy is willing to let them nurse, he’s pretty much the first one there. She’s treating him exactly like the rest of the kittens – sometimes she loves him and licks him and purrs at him, and sometimes she growls at him to GET AWAY AND LET ME HAVE A MINUTE TO MYSELF, KID.
On Saturday, Fred and I were hanging out in the kitten room, and I noted that it had been almost a week since Carlin had had an accident (of the not-making-it-to-the-litterbox sort). Fred suggested that we open the door to the rest of the upstairs and let them explore, so we did. They had a few hours out on Saturday and then all day on Sunday, and so far it’s going well. Like all kittens, they prefer to hang out in Fred’s room. Carlin was the first kitten to the bottom of the stairs, followed quickly by Gilda and Rickles. They seem to have decided that there’s nothing of interest at the bottom of the stairs (we have the screen door in place), and went right back upstairs.
I weighed everyone yesterday, and except for Carlin, they’re all over 2 pounds. Roseanne and Louis continue to weigh exactly the same, at 2 pounds, 2 ounces. Rickles continues to be the biggest (2 pounds, 10 ounces) with Shecky (2 pounds, 9 ounces) and Skelton (2 pounds, 8 ounces) not far behind. That leaves Belushi (2 pounds, 7 ounces) and Gilda (2 pounds, 4 ounces) in between. Wee Carlin brings up the rear at just over 1 1/2 pounds. You can see the weight chart at the bottom of their page.
Lucy gained a tiny bit of weight and is at 8 pounds, 3 ounces. She definitely still needs to put on more weight, but she’ll get there.

Videos! In the first one, there are skitterbugs all over the place.
And the second video was made when Louis was 3 – 4 weeks old. He was watching everyone outside the crate playing, and he was simply AMAZED. His little face just cracks me UP.

What a great post! Everything made me smile. I think Monday (today) is going to be a good day.
Carlin does NOT give attitude…. He only gives a tremendous amount of CUTE!
Oh, he’s got attitude to spare – he’s just awfully cute in addition. 🙂
Poor Lucy!
I love Skitterbugs!
In the pictures where they are posing or not posing, Roseanne’s big white paws make it look like she’s got some of those clunky platform heels that all the young girls are wearing (and falling down in) these days.
And the pictures of Lucy covered in nursing kittens made me laugh out loud.
Yeah, the second to the last picture: Can you spie with your little eye the momma kitty?
Oh yeah, I can see the platforms Roseanne is wearing! I thought last night that she kind of looked like she was wearing brand-new white sneakers. I like the platforms better. 🙂
Oh my! The agouti pattern on Roseanne & Belushi is so striking. I love that pattern! And I love the picture of the kittens nursing, with Belushi lying on mama’s neck – “I’ll hold her down so she can’t get away!”.
I think Belushi and Roseanne look a lot like Aslan from the Royals litter !!! Very stylish looking fur fluff !!!!
Poor Lucy, she looks like she was taken down by a pack of wild tigers/lions in the serengeti. I can’t even see her in some of those. Poor girl’s not going to gain weight with those kittens stuck her like remoras.
That louis video is too precious. Want to pick him up and hug him for reassurance.
All of the kittens are gorgeous but I knew Gilda was going to be stunning. Like Rita Hayworth-stunning.
I’m surprised Newt let you get THATCLOSE without waking up cranky.
Zoom lens?
Newt’s a very hard sleeper, and you could probably pick him up and twirl him around by two paws and he’d just keep on snoring. 🙂
that second video just about killed me….
the ears.. oh my goodness.. look at those ears!!
so what is your criteria for neutering?
It’s mostly up to me – they can go as long as they’re over 2 pounds. But since they can’t have their rabies shots ’til they’re 3 months old, I usually tend to wait and have them spayed/neutered, id chipped, and rabies shotted at the same time. I’ve been thinking I might go ahead and take them all once Carlin gets over 2 pounds, then just take them back for their shots when it’s time, so that they can chill at home and recover from their surgery (though there’s not much recovery for them at this age!), then take them back for their last shots.
