Mimosa went home yesterday morning (I kid you not when I tell you she pretty much climbed into the carrier on her own. I just had to poke her a little to get her all the way in, and then zipped it closed.) That girl was ready to GO.
Today’s post contains the last of the pictures I took of her.
Hanging out in the window hammock with Bramble lurking nearby.
Mimosa pie! (Yep, I sent a pie plate home with her along with her bag of toys and a small blanket.)
Her belly fur is growing back nicely.
Have I mentioned that she’s a fan of catnip? She very much is.
The kittens were bugging her, so she jumped up here and then said “I could probably hang out comfortably up here if you didn’t keep stacking stuff up here instead of putting it away.” (She is so right.)
In her pink onesie, hanging out in a cardboard box. As you do.
Checking out the carrier that’ll take her to her kitten-free life while Amy fills out the paperwork.
One last look at me in the mirror.
The kittens have adjusted fine to her absence – they were a little whiny right after she left, and I thought “Oh, they miss her!” Turns out that because I’d fed them a very light breakfast (I didn’t want Mimosa to get sick on the drive home), they were hungry. Once fed, they raced around and played, and then took long afternoon naps. In the evening, they walked around looking a little puzzled, like they knew something was different but they weren’t sure what.
Kittens always adjust really well when their mothers leave, and I don’t expect these guys to be any different.

Uncle Archie has no use for kittens, but he might give ’em the ol’ snifferoo if he comes face to face with them.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
They ain’t scared of the vacuum cleaner (when it’s turned off.) (Mimosa, Kudzu & Mondo)
Hooray, hooray, Mimosa has been adopted and is headed home to Nashville right now! She joins a family that includes three other sweet kitties. Her new family is not sure whether they’ll have a page for her or not, but will let us know. And her name will remain Mimosa!
Happy life, sweet girl! ❤️

The kittens are having a good time (and I can’t believe I successfully tossed that toy to Clover!)
Look look! It’s Mimosa! Look how relaxed she is already! Amy reports that she loves the back doors. I foresee hours of bird watching for that girl! (Thanks, Amy!)
My office assistants (Clover and Hollyhock) have brought me a pen. (Yesterday my office assistants knocked over the cup of pens on my desk and all the pens disappeared, so this is progress.)
The kittens are doing fine, they don’t even seem to notice that Mimosa is gone.
Good night innernets. (Hollyhock)

I think I might cry. Yep, my eyes are filling as I type this. Am so happy for Mimosa and her forever home, but it’s hard knowing she won’t be gracing my Facebook feed anymore. This is the first litter I have followed from Day 1 when you first brought Mimosa home; I know she came to you as just “Mama” or “Mama-kitty” and now her brood is ready to leave the nest as well. Or soon will.
Good Luck, Mimosa! I’ll continue to enjoy your Sprouts until they too find purrfect furever homes!
I’m so glad Mimosa and now all her Sprouts will be going to good homes. Will the kittens (except Clover) go directly from the vet to their forever homes or will they recover a few days with you?
Also, is the person(s) who is adopting sweet Clover the one who came to meet him last Friday? Just curious.
They’ll come back here for a couple of days to recover, and will most likely head home Saturday. (Mondo and Kudzu are going to Nashville, Bramble and Hollyhock are going to the Atlanta area.)
And yes, the people adopting Clover are the ones who met him on Friday!
Yaaaay Mimosa! Lucky adopters are lucky. I foresee a life of happiness, love, bird watching on Mimosa’s part, and purrs. XD If she’s still as much a purr machine as she was earlier on in her stay with you, that is.
Hi Archie. *pets*
I was wondering the same thing – is the family adopting Clover the ones who met him last week? When I met my cute black tortie girl Ballou we didn’t completely click the first time but I came back after thinking about it and applied to adopt her anyway. It was one of the happiest, best decisions I’ve ever made. We’ve been together for over 16 years now, she turns 18 next month. She’s the sweetest, most cheerful critter I’ve ever met and I love her to bits. We’re still in touch with her wonderful foster parents even after all this time. They’ll always be part of her success story – they gave her a soft place to land when she needed it most.
Lucky Ballou! (I bet her foster parents love getting to hear about her all these years later!!)
Yes, the family adopting Clover are the ones who met him on Friday. When they were leaving, Amy told me she was leaning toward adopting him, but wanted to talk to her husband first.
Wait. Mimosa went away with an Amy, but Clover will also go with an Amy? Are they ALL Amy? LOL! Or did I just get confused somewhere?
There are only two Amys… this time! 🙂
Yay for Mimosa! Everyone’s packing their bags, such a sad/happy time! But anticipating a new litter makes up for it! Wonder if it will be a pregnant momma, babies and a momma or just babies? Anticipation!
Happy Tails, Mimosa! Congratulations on your forever home!
I started this nice path for first time when Mimosa was expecting. Her background may be here somewhere but have not seen. From what conditions or circumstance was she in prior to coming to you? Watching the videos is best entertainment around however seeing the little ones adopted is a good thing I know but sorta sad also. I always had a kitty cat. Years ago when my kitty had kittens. Time came for them to be adopted was so difficult. I would put them under the house prior to kitty shoppers arrival. My childhood kitty , Whiskers , would go to my grandmothers with me each summer. On one occassion Whiskers rode with me on Greyhound bus to Big Mammas She made no noise but just stuck her nose in the air holes in box. Whiskers loved raw corn straight from the country garden. Those were such good days
Mimosa was turned in to animal control by her owners because they could no longer afford to keep her. They were calling her “Mama”, so I assume she’d had previous litters of kittens. I believe she was very well treated in her home – she’s a very confident, friendly girl – and I’m sure it was hard for them to give her up.
Your links for 2021 and 2020 are both for 2020. Just thought I’d let you know. Also, is Wisteria “officially” adopted yet?
Thanks, I’ve fixed it!
I don’t know if Wisteria’s officially adopted yet – I haven’t heard, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of paperwork.
Loved the video with Mimosa purring so very much (FB)!! That was so sweet and yet almost a tearjerker. I love when they all get adopted without having to go outside your home!
Thank you, Robyn (and of course Fred and the permies)
