Crouton and Ciabatta are out cold.
The kittens would like you to know that they ain’t skeered of no vacuum (when it’s off.)
Pita in the sun. Such a pretty girl!
They like this tent when it’s upright like it’s supposed to be, but when it’s half-collapsed and on its side? It’s the BEST TOY EVER.
Ciabatta’s all “What we doin’, lady?”
With their spay/neuter surgeries less than two weeks away, I wanted to start getting the Crumbs accustomed to being in carriers. So in the evenings I put them into a couple of carriers (I don’t split them up any way in particular, just put two in one, three in the other) and we go for a drive. We started with a 10 minute drive, have stretched it to 15, and eventually we’ll get to 30 – 45 minutes and I’ll call it good enough. They get treats (Friskies Party Mix) before I put them the carrier and then when we get home it’s Churu time. I’ve only done it a few times so far, but they’ve handled it well.
Yesterday I did the usual – put them in the carriers, headed downstairs. I handed the carriers over to Fred and went to change my shoes. When I got to the garage, about 10 seconds behind Fred, he was walking toward Trixie and Rocco (the neighborhood cats who spend 99.7658% of their lives on our front porch or in the garage).
“What are you doing?” I asked, as Trixie flattened her ears and fled in terror followed very closely by Rocco.
“I wanted them to see the kittens,” Fred said. “I guess they’re scared of the kittens. Isn’t that funny?”
“OR,” I said. “They saw you walking toward them with carriers and didn’t want to go to the vet.”
“Oh.”
(Trixie and Rocco were back in the garage by the time we got home from our drive, so I guess they weren’t too terribly traumatized.)

Skip has a little time with his mama and checks to see if the floor is any closer.
Bolt (right, blue collar) looks like he’s reading invisible messages on the wall of the crate.

Charlie’s favorite place to hang out: under the Japanese Maple. The branches are hanging so that you can’t really see him unless you’re close, and I think he likes it that way.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Ciabatta) From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.
The Hopalong Gang is 2 weeks old today!
They are doing great, eating well, and gaining weight beautifully. In the next week they’ll get better at walking, will start (continue!) play-fighting with each other, and may start to leave the crate, even though I’m not ready for that yet.
Note that Bolt has a dark nose, Skip and Skitter have pink noses, and Lollygag has a partly-dark, partly-pink nose. (Mosey and Dillydally are easy to tell apart from the others, so we’re not talking about their perfectly adorable noses.)

It’s time for breakfast and the kittens are hungryyyy.
6-kitten pie? My favorite! (The Hopalong Gang)

3 minutes at the milk bar with the Hopalong Gang, who are TWO WEEKS OLD today! They can all fit at the milk bar at one time still, but I don’t think that’ll be true for too much longer.

When we are settling down for nap time, the kittens gather around to be petted and to purr at me, and there’s nothing better.
Good night innernets. (Pumpernickel and his lovely pink toeses.)

Whenever there are bad storm breakouts like this week, I think of your tornado tale and Miss Dorothy. And lo and behold, that 2011 post popped up today!!
I’m still grateful that y’all escaped relatively unscathed, and so sad for the humans and animals devastated this past week…
I know, we were so lucky and I feel so sorry for the people who’ve had to deal with the aftermath, it’s so very sad.
Have you found that taking the kittens for car rides in the carriers before having to go to the vet helps them be more tolerant of car rides? I didn’t do that with my 19 YO cat and he cries the whole way to and back home from the vet every time! I tell myself, next cat will go on frequent car rides!!
I do think it helps – I haven’t done it with every litter (even though I mean to), but the ones that I’ve done it with seem to be more accepting of being in the carriers – and maybe less scared of them. I feel like doing something positive before putting them in the carriers (with the Friskies treats) and then something they LOVE afterward (the Churu) really helps. I don’t know that they’ll ever, y’know, hop into the carriers and demand to go for a ride, but as long as they’re not utterly terrified I’ll be happy.
Dillydally looks like he is laughing about your Fred story 🙂
I do love a boy with a good sense of humor! 😀
OMG! That Charlie picture is fantastic! Can you please add it to the favorites page?
Yep, done!
Pita’s markings are kind of like the reverse of the Phantom of the Opera!
I can see that!
I have thought that too.
How is Crumpet doing ? I havent seen anything was wondering . Thank you
She’s fine. Still at Petsmart and hasn’t had any inquiries.
