Little slackers. (Clover was eating.)
Mondo and Hollyhock atop the scratcher in my bedroom.
I found this little cave in the closet, and the kittens loved leaping in and out. And then they squooshed it flat, of course.
Why look, it’s a fancy Kudzu on the Fancy Sofa.
Bramble certainly does love that packing strap (they all do!)
Line ’em up! Left to right: Mondo, Clover, Hollyhock (back), Bramble and Kudzu.
The kittens are 10 weeks old today! I haven’t weighed them yet, but when I do you can see their current weights over at Google Sheets. Last week the boys were all either just over or just under 3 pounds (1.36 kg), so I’m sure they’re all over 3 pounds by now. Hollyhock’s still tiny but mighty.
The kittens are scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries on June 1st (so, 3 weeks from today.)
The big news is that we are ADOPTION PENDING on Hollyhock and Bramble, who are being adopted together. They’ll be joining a wonderful kitty we’ve been talking a lot about recently… Stompers!
We’ve also gotten an application from someone who lives in Nashville, Tennessee (that’s a couple of hours north of us) for Mimosa; I haven’t heard yet whether it’s been approved, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I know that a LOT of people were hoping that Mimosa might be adopted with one or more of her kittens, but let me assure you – Mimosa DOES NOT WANT THAT. The kittens are driving her nuts lately, poor thing. She’s got a few spaces where she can get away from them – and she takes advantage of those spaces – but she would very much like to be able to go about her life without being swarmed by kittens at every turn.

Jake’s got his loons on and he’s staring off into the distance thinking deep thoughts.
(I would like to point out here that Jake is nearly 13 years old and I CANNOT BELIEVE IT.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Good morning sunshine(s). (Kudzu & Clover)
Nobody poops alone! (Left to right: Mondo, Hollyhock, Clover snoopervising from his perch up high, and Bramble.)
The kittens jumped up here (this filing cabinet is located in my office, off of my bedroom) and stared in fascination at the tiny spider crawling on my wall.

Mimosa and the Sprouts have plenty of room to roam now that I’ve opened the foster room door (they basically have twice the space they had), but where are the kittens? On the tree in the foster room, napping. They came out briefly to check things out, and went right back into the foster room. (It’s been a few days since I made this video – they’re venturing out to explore a lot more now!)
Bramble finds these pillows comfy AND fun – he likes to knock them onto the floor.
Good night innernets! (Kudzu, Clover, Hollyhock and Bramble. Mondo was snoozing across the room.)

Stompers is going to be big brother to Hollyhock and Bramble? How wonderful! He’ll give them advanced lessons on how to cat! We’ll look forward to pictures and perhaps video once the kittens are settled in.
Yay Stompies is getting a kid brother and sister!!
I’m so happy for Mimosa!
So happy I can share this now! Stompers has seemed lonely since his big sister passed. I’m not sure he is ready for kittens but I also think he’ll adapt quickly. He has so much love to give!
I bet he will be the BEST big brother!
Stompers!!! I missed the post about him last week (I was at an in-person conference for the first time since 2019!) but he is one of my all-time favorite kittens. I’m so happy that a couple of these kittens are going to get to live with him. And my mom once adopted a mother-daughter pair, and for the whole 15+ years she had them, the mama cat absolutely ignored her daughter. The daughter tried to interact with her, but she was not having it — ever. Daughter had to make friends with the dog!
I know that, out there somewhere in some mythical land, there are mama cats who would LOVE to be adopted with their kitten(s). I, however, have never once seen that. In my experience, by the time the kittens are ready for adoption, the mothers are SO OVER the whole kitten thing and want nothing more than to be kitten-free. I know Mimosa wants that!
