Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Tumblr Roundup.
Mother-daughter portrait. (Katia & Katarina)
Little ornj, mid-yawn… but he looks like he’s cackling at his own silly joke.
Good night, innernets. (Dean and Tessa)
Happy Naming Day to Kristi’s kittens, who are 2 weeks old today! First up is the orange tabby with the extra thumb and swirly stripes. He is a boy, and we have named him Brian Boitano after figure skater Brian Boitano (obviously)!
Kitten #2 is this adorable orange tabby. He is a boy, and we have named him Scott after Canadian ice dancer/ gold medalist Scott Moir. (I bet you can guess what the next kitten’s name is going to be!)
This gray kitten is a girl, and we named her Tessa after Canadian ice dancer/ gold medalist Tessa Virtue.
I’ve been calling this kitten “black or tuxie”, but might turn out to be smoke or silver, or maybe that’s a fever coat, only time will tell! Anyway, this maybe-black kitten is also a girl, and we have named her Debi after figure skater/ bronze medalist Debi Thomas (and also because the kittens were born on my sister’s birthday and her name is Debbie!)
This little meezer kitten has turned out to ALSO be a girl, and we named her Picabo after skier Picabo Street. (The only kitten not named after a skater, but Picabo Street was an Olympic gold medalist, so it’s in keeping with the theme. And Picabo is a great name for a kitten!)
Kitten #6, this adorable little meezer (this is the talkative one you’ve seen in at least one video) is a GIRL, and we have named her Ohno after 8-time Olympic medalist speed skater Apolo Ohno. (Yes, Apolo Ohno is male and this kitten is female, but who cares? It’s a great name!)
Say hello to black boy kitten Torvill, who was initially believed to be a girl, so was named after ice dancer/ gold & bronze medalist Jayne Torvill. After realizing our error, we kept the name, but switched from Jayne to Torvill. Torvill turned 5 weeks old yesterday.
This is black boy kitten Dean, also known as Deanzilla due to his propensity for charging into a crate of nursing kittens and stomping across them on his way to the milk bar. Dean was named after Christopher Dean, ice dancer/Olympic medalist and partner to Jayne Torvill. We referred to him as Christopher at first, but when we switched to Torvill’s last name after realized he was a boy, we did the same with Dean. (And a good thing, too, since “Deanzilla” rolls off the tongue much better than “Christopherzilla.”)
Please say hello to floofy tuxie kitten Oksana, named after Olympic figure skater/ gold medalist Oksana Baiul. She looks kind of big, but believe me – she is all floof, and is very light.
Say hello to floofy tuxie girl Katarina, who was named after figure skater/ Olympic gold medalist Katarina Witt. Katarina (the kitten) appears to be headed toward the floofy side of life, and will likely be a long-haired cat when she’s done growing.
Good night, innernets. (Debi, Scott & Picabo)
Such a rough life for these monkeys. (Brian, Dean & Oksana)
Deanzilla’s showing off his crazy eyes.
Deanzilla’s front and center at the milk bar, of course.
“Innernets, I SEE YOU lookin’ at kitteh pics. Get back to work!” (Katarina)
“I just got them to sleep, you BETTER not wake them up!” Torvill is babysitting.
Babysitters Dean and Torvill are on the job. Good night, innernets.
Good night, innernets. Left to right: Ohno, Brian Boitano, Debi, Scott, Tessa, Picabo – and of course mama Kristi in the back.
Walked into the room to find that Ohno and Scott had escaped the crate. Ohno was hanging out beside the crate, and Scott was snuggling with his auntiesistercousinbabysitterfriends Oksana and Katarina a few feet away.
Good night, innernets. Deanzilla and Katarina are tonight’s babysitters.

Videos! The first one is all of the videos (except for the talky meezer videos) combined into one longer video.
And the second video is all the Ohno talking videos combined. (OH the cute!)

“…also known as Deanzilla due to his propensity for charging into a crate of nursing kittens and stomping across them on his way to the milk bar.” Ah yes, there’s always gotta be one in every litter, lol.
I just love these Sunday morning recaps! Thanks Robyn. 🙂
Robyn, I have to thank you for the chicken baby food thing. It just got me through an absolute kitty-mom nightmare. I have five cats, the oldest of which is 18 and diabetic. On Wednesday, a few days after a routine vet visit for two of them, all five quit eating, two started vomiting, and one other started hiding. And I’m leaving today on a business trip.
I managed to keep them all hydrated — for some reason they all wanted to drink out of my shower. I don’t ask questions if they’ll drink. I threw the insulin to the wind and worried about eating first. I was able to get them kickstarted eating once the vomiting stopped using chicken baby food, and now most of them are mostly back to normal. Still eating less than normal, but they came down in a meowing horde this morning for breakfast and all of them ate at least something. Thank $DEITY.
So good you got the kitties to eat. “Meowing horde” sounds so much better than not eating.
FDMB has a lot of information about caring for a diabetic cat. You may already know about this message board. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/ You need to have an ID to access some of their forums. Lots of experienced diabetic cat caregivers there.
They also have a Facebook closed group, more the social side of things but also a place to bounce ideas off each other. https://www.facebook.com/groups/62167000201/
They’ve been a great resource for me! He’s well-controlled and has been for some time, but for the short term (for the person house-sitting for me while I’m away) I’d rather go high than go low, hypoglycemia is a big nasty emergency that I don’t want her to have to deal with.
I’m so glad that they are eating some! There is no worse feeling than having a business trip and a cat starts to get sick. I’ve postponed vacations but work is another thing unfortunately…
I just love the pictures of the teeny ones cuddling with the not-so-teeny ones. And I wonder what’s going through their fluff-filled brains. I remember when I was little, I was so in awe of my older cousins – I imagine that the teenies think the not-to-teenies are so cool and so grown-up!!! ❤️
So cute!
