That photo of Trixie on the other side of the fence made me wonder, do the not-your-cats ever get in the yard or do they only come to the front porch and then inside? I hadn’t thought to wonder if the cat fence was as hard to get into as to get out of. Thanks.
The back yard is WAY easier to get into than out of. Trixie doesn’t try to get into the back yard, but a couple of weeks ago Rocco went through a stage where he was getting into the back yard at least once a day, and then couldn’t get back out. (This would not be such an issue except that Charlie absolutely LOATHES Rocco, and they’re both such big cats that I think they could do some serious damage to each other.) The fence around the back yard is chain link on 3 sides and wood on the 4th side, so Rocco was climbing the wooden fence, climbing onto the cat fence and then just basically letting it drop him into the back yard. Fred put up some fencing to try to block his way over the fence, and at this point it SEEMS to have worked, but we’re not counting it fixed just yet. (Yes, this is nearly exactly how Archie became an indoor permanent resident. But I reiterate: Charlie haaaaates Rocco and I don’t want to see the two of them get into a serious fight.)
We have also had the occasional stray cat get into the back yard (and then be unable to get back out), but they seem to only make that mistake once. Fred opens the side gate, lets them out, and they vamoose to never try that particular trick again.

The kittens are so bright-eyed! I think they’re going to be leaping out of the crate any day now! Also – do you think they are Daisy’s first kittens, or has she done this before? She’s such a good mama!
I don’t think these are Daisy’s first kittens, only because she was being fed as part of a colony for at least two years before she came to Forgotten Felines – and she’s estimated to be at least 3 years old. So I imagine she’s had several litters in the past – but this is certainly her very last! (And she is absolutely a good mama – watchful, but not worried.)

Have you ever considered getting a secret camera to take pictures of Dewey? I am imagining a spy camera, disguised as eyeglasses.
I have considered trying to get his picture with a long-range lens, or taking a screenshot of the Nest camera in the living room (since he – and all the cats – wander through there about 7,000 times a day). But I literally looked him in the eye and promised I’d stop trying to take his picture, and I feel like doing either of those would be breaking a promise. (I know, it’s silly. But I would feel bad!)

Okay, another “apparently this is all new to me despite having read your blogs for (yes, literally) DECADES” question: I don’t remember a litter tussling with each other THIS early on. Am I wrong? Or are these super crazy adorable little muffins just extra feisty?
It does seem a few days early – I always think of it as starting around 3 weeks; they turn 3 weeks on Saturday and have been tussling for at least 3 or 4 days.
I’m wondering if they might have been a little overcooked, they seem kind of advanced for their age!

Jay’s all “Mama, you gots a BIG foot!”
I love seeing his bright blue eyes next to her gorgeous green eyes.
Myrtle’s content little face just makes me want to kiss her 1,000 times.
Nick would like to know just what I think I’m doing. (Admiring you, Nick. Always!)
Zelda is very aware that there’s life outside the crate and she is intrigued but nervous.
Jay’s back there licking his paw, Myrtle’s taking a moment to decide what kind of shenanigans she’d like to get up to, and Zelda and Nick are havin’ a snuggle.
Jay, rolling around and feelin’ good.
Zelda always has a serious case of bedhead.
Myrtle’s booping Zelda (and I don’t think Zelda is appreciating it.)
Then she tromps across Jay like he’s a rug. RUDE.
Then it’s time to pile up and snooze the day away. And there’s Jay: always on top of the pile.

Newt wonders if you’d be interested in a fish taco or two?
(Side note on the taco truck: someone (can’t imagine who)(okay, it was me) spilled an entire cup of Diet Coke on the taco truck and made it all sticky and warped, so it had to go in the trash. Fortunately, we have one shiny new taco truck waiting in the wings (someone gave it to me to have in reserve because Love & Hisses followers are THE BEST), so Myrtle, Nick, Zelda and Jay will have their taco truck opportunities when they get older.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Nick’s got a blep, and Zelda’s got a “Keeping my eye on you, lady.”

The kittens are rollin’ and kickin’, kickin’ and rollin’. Good LORD, they are just the CUTEST.
“You wanna kiss them, you gotta go through me, lady,” says Jay. And so I kissed him 1,000 times.

Wrasslin’ and kickin’ and gumming each other. These guys are gonna be SOME kind of ticked off at each other in a few days when their teeth start coming in. I’m looking forward to the squeaky little howls of outrage, to be honest.
Daisy likes to keep her belly cool by placing it directly on the bare floor. Whatever floats your boat, mama.
Good night innernets. (Myrtle acting as pillow to Zelda (left) and Nick; Jay was using her as a pillow too, but I wasn’t fast enough to capture it before his head slid off her hip to the floor of the crate.)

This has to be the most roly poly litter ever! I don’t remember, at this age, kittens that roll around so much. You aren’t concerned about cerebellum hyperplasia or some other condition that would cause that?
Also, while I’m worrying over the imperfections, I noticed the kittens sneezing a bit in the one video, I can’t remember the topic. Everyone ok?
OMC! Jay’s white and pink kitten belly! We know you kiss it 1000 times a day. Add an extra one for us!
I think it’s nice that you keep the promise you made to Dewey!
I thought the same thing!!
