It seems impossible, but these little muffins are FIVE weeks old now!
Oh no, Clover’s been taken down by the rat toy. I have faith that Clover will prevail in the end.
Bramble in the sun, needin’ a snuggle.
Hollyhock, that sweet, sassy, gorgeous girl.
Mondo’s checking out the mirror under Mimosa’s supervision.
These kittens love their mama.
Bramble’s checking out his look in the mirror, while Mondo checks to see if the milk bar is open… and Mimosa’s giving me the eyes of “I think it’s time to eat.”
I do not know what that watermelon toy did, but neither Hollyhock nor Mimosa approves.
Mimosa has a think while Kudzu checks out the mirror.
Last week I predicted that the kittens might abandon the crate, and I was right – the kittens rediscovered the cabinet where they were born, and once I put a bed in there, they decided that that was the place to sleep. They all pile up in there to sleep, and when they’re not sleeping they are ALL over the room. They’ve all tried eating solid food (some of them are more interested than others), they’re all peeing in the litter box, and I have seen the occasional poo. Last week I also predicted that they might check out Mimosa’s litter box, but as far as I can tell, they haven’t done that yet. They’re just now starting to show interest in the cat trees, and I’m sure that this next week will bring cat tree climbing (since they’re already climbing up and down the couch), they may start sleeping out in various spots in the room, and I still expect them to discover Mimosa’s litter box and give it a try.

Oh that fabulous, fabulous Khal.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
The eyes are changin’! The kittens no longer have those gorgeous dark blue eyes any more, this is what they look like currently. Mondo and Clover’s eyes still have a lot of blue, but Kudzu’s eyes are mostly green and gold. Usually kittens’ eyes start changing when they’re around 4 weeks old; these guys – especially Kudzu – were a little ahead of the curve. I suspect that they’ll all end up with green or gold eyes.
Look who it is! Former foster Hook (he was Khaleesi’s son Puff when he was with us back in 2013). Selena says: “Hook is indeed the baby. Our back room is still our storage room. The cats love the window because we don’t have blinds on it and Hook has always liked lying on top of the old mattress. Well, I put Jordan’s infant seat up there just to get it out of the way. This happened almost immediately. 🤦♀️ ” 🤣
(Thanks Selena!)

Hollyhock doesn’t know what this “BOOP” business is about, but it doesn’t bother her much.
I wasn’t fast enough to catch a picture of it – Bramble came proudly trotting across the room with this toy in his mouth, then he put it down and batted it around. Not even 5 weeks old yet, and he’s a mighty hunter!

The kittens are hard at work on their tussling, climbing, and wrassling skills. They’ll be well-rounded individuals, for sure.
Kudzu in my lap, wondering why I stopped petting him (to take a picture, of course!)
Good night innernets. (Clover)

I’m currently fostering a nearly feral mama cat who was rescued from a hoarding situation. She is young and small and started out with SEVEN kittens, who were overrun with herpes conjunctivitis and ringworm. We’ve lost four kittens on my watch. The remaining three seem healthy but small. Mama hisses at me constantly but will lick Churu treats from my hand.
The point is that loss of kittens plus hostile and scared mama has got me feeling pretty discouraged, and it’s just a real upper to come here and see your happy, healthy babies and sweet mama Mimosa. Thank you for what you do!
Thank you so much for what you’re doing, Noelegy. I know it isn’t easy, but with you at least they have a chance – and they’re so lucky to be with you.
Thank YOU, Noelegy, for what YOU do!!
At what age do the kittens start purring when you pet them? Have they already?
