Fred got out the Da Bird teaser to encourage Poppi and Moxie to come downstairs, and got Charlie and Khal’s attention while he was at it.
Poppi got a look at Khal and said “Oh, he’s MAGNIFICENT.”
They went back up the stairs and just hung out there for a while, checking out the view. (I was sitting on the floor petting Khal.)
Moxie came down for the ol’ snifferoo.
Then she realized that if she was going to be around The Magnificent Khal, she needed to put on her floof suit.
Poppi said “Why’re you floofed?”
Moxie said “I like to be dressed appropriately!”
Clearly quite impressed by Khal!
THEN Uncle Charlie went upstairs to check out the food situation (rumors were that there was kitten food, and as it turns out the rumors were true!) and the girls followed.
Then she retreated and put on HER floof suit while Moxie watched in solidarity from the doorway.
Uncle Charlie decided to look for a friendlier environment, but Moxie was in the doorway and he doesn’t like to get too close to kittens who are wearing their floof suits.
“NONE SHALL PASS,” said Moxie.
“I told HIM!” she thought proudly.
Eventually I moved her out of the way and Charlie left the upstairs.
As is usual when I start letting fosters have the run of the house, it takes a few days for them to get comfortable going downstairs. Moxie and Poppi have been making very short trips downstairs (usually together!), then run back up to safety when they see/hear something startling.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
We have an update on Sodapop, Fanta and Sundrop (who, if you missed it, were adopted on Saturday, together!)
Kailila says: Fanta has been doing an excellent job showing his mom and brother that everything is okay! We’ve been keeping him busy so he doesn’t bother his mom and brother too much 😂
Fanta and his new human sister Stacey are attached at the hip already! He loves playtime with her, as soon as he sees her he jumps down from the cat tower and goes for a toy.
Sundrop still hides at first but if I give him a little bit of churu he’ll come out and say hello. He has played a little bit with Fanta and Stacey but he likes to hang out in the cat tower for the most part.
Sodapop needed a bit more time to warm up but I draped one of the blankets that you sent with them over our “cat bakery” to make a cave for her and she moved out of her carrier into there after a few hours. That is still her favorite spot today and Sundrop visits her in there sometimes. Fanta has only been in it a few times.
After we got the kiddos and dogs to bed for the night. I went and sat in the room with the crew and Sodapop came out to investigate me a few times. Eventually she decided I seemed okay and sat with me while we watched the boys play. She is definitely interested in the toys but not ready for playtime with us yet.
The dogs have been super excited to meet everyone, they like to bring toys to the door of the room the cats are in. We have been doing scent exchanges with toys and that’s going well. Sodapop is the most nervous when she hears the dogs and sees them running around outside. First time she saw them in the backyard she went into hiding but the last time she saw them she stayed at the window and just grumbled at them few times lol. Fanta doesn’t seem to care about the dogs and Sundrop is the most curious, when the dogs are outside he just stares at them from his little room in the cat tower.
Everyone is drinking water and eating food now! So overall I think they are doing really well!
(Thank you for the wonderful update, Kailila!)

Two floofy girls. I played the video from a couple of years ago wherein Tater (Plover) was chasing dust, and Poppi was enthralled. (I’ll post the Tater video later this week – or you can go to YouTube and search on “Nestlings: Tater puts on a show” to find it.)
Fred was sitting in his chair reading, and Poppi and Moxie were keeping a close eye on him ’cause, y’know. Someone’s gotta!

Today we had a very restful (NOT) nap time. (They did eventually settle down, cuddle up, and snooze, but I didn’t capture that on video.)
It’s Churu time! Much, much calmer with just two kittens than it was with four!
Moxie says “Where’d the sunshine go?!” It’ll be back tomorrow, kid!

Robyn, your commentaries are so spot on and so very hilarious!!!! They make your photos even more adorable than they already are, if that were even possible!!! If you ever decide to become an author of kitty memoires, I for one would definitely buy your book! Love, love, love your blog posts!! Huge fan of you and your fosters…
