Michigoose said in yesterday’s comments that it would be neat to have a “random post” button, so I checked the WordPress plug-ins, clicked a few things, and there you go. Over there in the sidebar under the list o’ tags, is a blue random entry button! If I’d known it was going to be that easy, I’d have done it ages ago.

Did I mention that she’s just like a little cartoon with those white whiskers? Oh, so CUTE.
Leia, checking out the situation.
“::SNIK:: How did I DO that?!”
This is the age, apparently, when they try to climb the wall. That’s Aslan, by the way – and despite the way this picture makes it look, he does indeed have a full tail.
See? Their tails are so LONG now.
As far as I can tell, all of the kittens are using the litter boxes. There have been a couple of accidents, but they’re still little, so that’s to be expected. I would say that Charming is 100% on litter box usage, I’ve seen him in there plenty. The other four are still eating litter. In fact, on Saturday Charming and Buttercup were in a litter box together. She was busily eating litter, so imagine her surprise when she looked over at her brother to see him using the litter box as, y’know, a litter box. He finished his business and climbed out, and she sat there with the MOST amazed/appalled look on her face, sniffing what he’d left behind, clearly thinking “Why would he DO that?!” It was hilarious.

No little dragon babies yet!
“LOOK, lady, I’m trying to EAT here. You want to knock it off with the clickety-clack of that stupid camera?”
The problem with this foster room – previously Fred’s bedroom before we switched rooms around – is that the door not only doesn’t close all the way, but it also opens out into the hallway (instead of into the room like a normal door would.) We keep the door closed by using hooks on either side of the door, but there’s still a tiny bit of a gap. Miz Poo is the Gladys Kravitz of Crooked Acres and would probably sit there and peer through the gap, all creepy-like, which could freak out a protective mama. So Fred built a removable barrier across the inside of the doorway that does the job perfectly. Khaleesi occasionally stands up and peers over the barrier when we’re coming or going, but hasn’t tried to jump over it. YET.

This post cracked me up several times. Then I read bits to my husband, and he laughed too. And he doesn’t even know your cats like I do! 😉
Hahaha, Charming deficating in the ‘buffet’ is typical brotherly behaviour. Kinda.
I just hit the ‘random’ button and got taken to your entry 09/26/05. BABY SUGARBUTT! Also a little issue with overly ‘friendly’ siblings (Callie and Smitty)! I remember laughing a LOT when I first read that post. I just snorted my tea everywhere!
I am going to get no work done now… *hits the random button again…*
I got a Kara and her babies post… Sheriff Mama before she was Sheriff Mama!!! 🙂 Also, that little alien Beulah looking suspicious. That button is the best thing ever (or the worst thing ever if you were planning on getting off the couch any time soon)
Also… Miz Poo as Gladys Kravitz? Giggles for the rest of the day. She probably peeks into the Khaleesi’s room 17 times per day before running off to tell her poor hen-pecked husband Abner what that strange neighbor woman is doing.
Wait till the dragons are born!!!!
I enjoyed several hits of the random button, also!
It’s addictive, isn’t it?
Must…stop…clicking…on…the…random…button.
I love the white frosting on Buttercup’s front legs. So cute!
Random post button is dangerous. 🙂
Love the random button !!!! I got Emmy and her babies before you named them ! POOF – head explodes from cuteness !!! Just like the others have said it is very DANGEROUS !!!!!!!!! All over the world heads are exploding form the cuteness !!!!
Any baby dragons yet ?!?!?!? Keeping facebook open is case 🙂
I’m off to press the random button !!!!!
No baby dragons yet!
Isn’t Khaleesi in the blue room (side bar) or did you move the kittens to the blue room and Khaleesi is in the green room?? I’ve lost track of who lives where 🙂
LOVE the random button idea.. I will not push it today (REALLY I WON’T!!) as I have a boat load of work to get to
Gladys.. LOL.. thanks for the memories..
Khaleesi is in the blue room. I’m just notoriously bad at keeping the sidebar up to date. 🙂
(I just realized today, by the way, that the blue room has a green rug and the green a blue rug!)
It’s funny, I was just singing the Alice Mo song ALL day yesterday!!!!
Dear Lord!!!! The Random Post button is addicting!!!!!
I LOVE the random button! I got Stompers https://www.love-and-hisses.com/?p=3681! You need to change random button to “button of joy & cuteness”!
Love!
Heheh! Humans never let the cats to eat in peace, to peep in peace…. humpF!!!
Kisses
While we await the tiny dragons, I have a problem I’d like advice on: my 13 year old female cat has had 4 UTIs in the past year. Sigh. What can I do about this? She already has allergies and frequent vomiting, for which she receives pepcid and steriods (a few times a month for the ‘roids). She eats exclusively canned food with about 4 treats a day after meds. We bought a fountain that she ignores (old cat loves it); maybe she wants the yicky plastic one instead of ceramic? We have a Feliway plug-in. There’s always fresh water. 2 litter boxes, though only scooped (yuck) 2x week because that’s husband’s job and he’s crappy at it.
What else???? Ugh. She’s a raging beyotch at the vet, so she has to get tranquilized every time.
I don’t have any advice on that myself, but hopefully someone will jump in with some. And I’ll be sure to post it in Friday’s post!
Has her thyroid been checked????
her thyroid has been checked, yes. I was hoping there was an underlying issue that would explain it, but no, alas. She’s actually got great bloodwork, which is reassuring overall!
(sorry for the delayed response, it’s been a crazy week!)
you say UTI, but are they actual infections or is she dealing with crystals? a lot of vets will say UTI and give antibiotics even though there are no bacteria found..
You say you feed canned.. what is the plant load in it? You want to reduce the amount of plants fed because they keep the urine alkaline and the urine needs to be acidic for proper urinary health.
There are supplements you can give, but since I don’t know exactly what you are dealing with I don’t know which direction to suggest..
Good question about whether it’s actually an infection–The vet said, at least this time, that she saw bacteria (rod-shaped) and just a few crystals. I think a previous time or two she didn’t get inspected as she just peed herself instantly at the vet’s and they couldn’t get a sample. We’ve since started tranquilizing her beforehand, so it’s easier for them.
I’ll check out the ingredients for our food. It’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Chicken & Green Pea. I wonder if the green pea is “bad”? That would suck, because this is this only food we’ve found that she’s not allergic to! We tried many of the other high-protein canned food, and sometimes she’d even puke within 5 minutes of trying it (fail). The Rx allergy food is terrible in terms of carbs/fat/protein (plus she hates it), so I really hope that we can solve this without a diet change.
Thank you SO MUCH for the response! Our vet thinks that the issue is increased weight combined with difficulty cleaning her rear end. The increased weight was a mistake on my part (I brain farted how much to feed her) and her weight is stubborn. We are super careful about her food, and she just is a little fat rock.
(sorry for the delayed response, it’s been a crazy week!)
I have more experience with crystals than infections, although it looks like Jack has an infection from the catswell treats and we are having a devil of a time getting rid of it.
give antibiotics if prescribed for the full length of the prescription, and do your best to get them in on time each day. giving up when you think it is over and it might not be means you are contributing to a possible mutation into an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection. If you can get the vet to do a sterile urine draw and then do a “culture and sensitivity” will help a lot. the lab will culture the bacteria and find which antibiotic it is susceptible to. It is time consuming and expensive, but it should give the magic bullet to get rid of the infection.
Keeping the urine acidic is important. Dealing with food allergies you are limited.. Pea isn’t necessarily bad.. I can’t tell you if it is for your kitty or not.. might your kitty have developed a problem with it *shrug* I can’t possibly say. I wouldn’t be so quick to blame the urinary issue on “peas”.. just some people feed cat food that is VERY high in plant matter, which naturally produces urine that is on the high side of the acidic/alkaline readings.. you can help naturally lower it with an amino acid l-methionine, but you need to be careful doing it as if you get the urine too low (too acidic) you run into different and more difficult to solve problems.
You can also look into marshmallow root to help soothe the bladder wall. Corn Silk also helps. Cranberry and mannose keeps bacteria from adhering.
Since your kitty can eat chicken, there are different limited ingredient foods that are better in fat/protein/plant profiles.. You can even make your own raw food if you might be so inclined from the recipe at catinfo.org
One of our cats was having issues like that, but not quite as bad. She refused to drink water from the bowl, water from either cat fountains, but absolutely loves drinking from the faucet in the bathroom. During the period she was getting those problems we were refusing her faucet water because we thought it was a bad habit. We caved and now she runs to the bathroom, stands on the counter, and meows when she’s thirsty. Haven’t had any more UTI issues.
OMG thank goodness Molly is afraid of the sinks! She does drink from the bowls (I see it often), but she need to drink more often. The current fountain isn’t appealing to her, so I might add a plastic one that seems to have more success with finicky felines.
(sorry for the delayed response, it’s been a crazy week!)
omg you have to stop! The cuteness is seriously killing me!!! My co-workers think I’ve lost my mind when I sit here oohing and ahhing and laughing at those babies and your captions. But seriously, don’t stop!
So are Khaleesi’s babies all going to be named after famous dragons? Or are you going with the whole Game of Thrones theme?
They’ll probably all be named after dragons from Game of Thrones – though of course that could change after they’re actually born! 🙂
A fantastic — and perilous” new feature. I got “Today, Love and Hisses goes “live”. I’ve been working on it for a few weeks now, trying to get it to look like I want. I don’t know that I’ve been completely successful, but it’ll do for now.” Kara was heading off to Petsmart (er, I think we know how that went…) Love it; many thanks!
OH boy, Leia sure is a pretty little girl in her glamour shot! Must have learned that from her mom in the very next shot!
Waiting for the ding that tells us them new babies are done baking!
Alice! Does she now have two theme songs? lol

Okay, you tiny tots are growing up entirely too fast.
I hit the random button and found Kara & her HUGE babies still nursing. It reminded me if Maggie & her crew.
Khaleesi does look perturbed about the clickity-clack of the camera while she eats.
Speaking of glamour, when did Kate grow ridiculously long, silky whiskers?
Lor she’s gorgeous, even post-partum.
I’m late commenting, since I was on vacation in Los Angeles-where I saw many stars, but none as good looking as these kittens!!
I cracked up at the Gladys Kravitz reference, my husband and I call each other that all the time, when we are being snoopy on the neighbors.
