Stapler in the sun. She’s such a PRETTY girl!
In her harness and ready to go for a ride in the car!

ATTENTION, please: Forgotten Felines of Huntsville is NOW accepting applications for Sodapop! Read her description below, and if she seems like the perfect addition to your home, email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.
Sodapop (estimated DOB 2/23/23) came to Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at the beginning of February along with 4 tiny newborn kittens. She had been found stray (likely dumped) and was so hungry that she was literally eating garbage. The kind woman who spotted her just couldn’t leave her there, so Sodapop went home with her. Since orange cats are commonly male, her rescuers assumed that she was too, and named her Sodapop. Imagine their surprise when, about a month later, they walked in to find that she’d given birth to four tiny kittens! They reached out to Forgotten Felines of Huntsville for help, and she came to us.
She has been a wonderful mama to her kittens, but now it’s time for her to be the baby. Sodapop is timid at first in new situations (we can only imagine what she’s been through in the past), but when given some time to acclimate, she comes out of her shell pretty quickly. She hasn’t proven to be a lapcat, but she adores being petted, and will stand next to you and be petted for a good long time. If you’re busy doing something, she will follow you around and politely meow at you until you pet her. She is an incredibly playful cat, and will chase any toy you toss for her – she especially loves small felted balls, spring toys, and jumping after ping pong balls. Don’t feel like tossing toys for her? That’s okay, she’ll find a toy to bat around and play with on her own. She adores watching birds out the window, curling up in the sun, and did we mention that she likes being petted? Sure does!
She is a sweet girl who would be fine joining a home with another cat or cats. She hasn’t been around dogs in her foster home, but likely would be fine with cat-friendly dogs. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and ID chipped, and is ready to go now.
We are located in Huntsville, Alabama; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption because (don’t tell her I told you) Sodapop is a terrible driver; she is easily distracted and will drive straight into a ditch if she sees a bird.

I decided it was time for the Pops kittens to take a field trip to my office, so I brought them over and let them out to explore a bit.
Someone wanted to see what was going on.
As expected, there was some floofing. Sundrop was the last to notice her, and he was like ::brakes squealing:: “What is happening?!”
Moxie’s face is cracking me up.
“NOT FOOLIN’ WITH YOU, STRANGER,” said Sundrop.
Moxie had a wee existential crisis.
Stapler was a little overwhelmed – I mean, FOUR KITTENS seems like a lot when you’re used to zero kittens – so I let her out of the office, and the kittens took a while to de-floof.
“What happened here?” wondered Moxie.
I actually made a short video of the experience, which I’ll post later today (and which you’ll see here tomorrow.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Poppi) From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.
Sodapop is NOT foolin’ around. Such a serious face for such a sweet girl!

Stapler LOVES to fetch her beloved teaser and bring it to me to throw again. I think she could play this game all day!
I am VERY pleased that I managed to get Poppi (left, jumping into the bed) and Sundrop (right, jumping onto the blue thing) mid-air at the same time.

Just having a casual time in the kitten room, hanging out, and then first Fanta THROWS himself to the ground from the little blue cat tree, and then Poppi FLINGS herself into space. I wasn’t expecting either – obviously! – and I swear these kittens are going to be the death of me.

Oh to have the fearlessness of kittens!
The snicker on Fanta’s face in the last picture is just the best. And catching the double jump is pretty amazing!
I would be face down in Khal’s fabulous chest hair.
That sounds pervy but not meant that way.
Excellent field trip commentary and photographic proof of poofing!!
