Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.
Pinochle and Uno and banana for scale! (That is one happy looking banana.)
Former foster Phoenix (Mercury’s daughter from 2017) thinks this porch swing is just the place to be! Isn’t she adorable? (Thanks, Debra!)

Pinochle loves that track toy… and is considering a skitter.

2 minutes of kittens playing … and a Look from Canasta wherein she clearly thinks that I am to blame for the kittens being the way they are.
(Permanent resident) Charlie keeps an eye on Earl the Skwerl, who finds the bird feeder full of sunflower seeds very much to his liking.
I love this shot of Rummy. She’s such a pretty girl!
Good night innernets. (Left to right: Rummy, Pinochle & Uno)
We have met the vacuum cleaner, and we are not fans. (Canasta & Pinochle)
I’ve had a ton of people asking recently when the kittens and Canasta would be available for adoption. The answer is that Forgotten Felines of Huntsville will start taking applications when the kittens are 10 weeks old. They’re 6 weeks old now, so in another 4 weeks applications will be accepted. The kittens won’t actually be able to go home ’til after they’re spayed and neutered (which will hopefully be right around 12 weeks, though that hasn’t been scheduled yet.) When they’re accepting applications, I will certainly announce it!

Rummy’s feelin’ sneaky. When she “hides” next to the box and wiggles her butt… seriously, how CUTE is she?
Pinochle has discovered the back yard and loves to sit and look out the window.

Uno discovered she can get up in the window and see her reflection and get all floofy. That girl cracks me UP.
(Permanent resident) Khal doesn’t know why he’s so magnificent, just that he is. And he would like some pettin’. (Our permanent residents are allowed in the back yard during the day because we have a cat fence around the yard to keep them contained. You can Google “Purrfect Fence” to see the kind of fence we have.)
If that’s not a basket full o’ cute, I don’t know what is. (Whist, Rummy and Fizzbin)
Good night innernets. (Fizzbin)

Rummy loves her mama… and Canasta loves her Rummy!

Play time in the kitten room! (It’s always play time in the kitten room, am I right?)
It’s #Toesday, and as such please admire Fizzbin’s multicolored toeses.

Just like her mama, Uno has a LOT to say!
(Permanent resident) Charlie was hanging out on that railing, and I went out to take a picture of him, but of course he immediately had to get up and see what was going on and ruined my picture. THANKS, CHARLIE.

Random clips of the kittens floofing, bouncing and skittering at each other.
Good night innernets. (Slapjack)
Canasta is off to the vet today for her spay surgery – hooray! (Less hooray: she went into heat Monday morning, and that girl has a voice that CARRIES.) She’ll stay overnight at the vet’s and will be back here again tomorrow to finish raising her kittens.

Mama Canasta is off at the vet today being spayed (yay!). Here she is from earlier this week doing milk bar duty.
The kittens enjoy a good birds-and-squirrels video. (From left: Pinochle, Fizzbin, Rummy and Whist.)

This video was made last night – we put Canasta in the hall and let Charlie in for a few minutes to meet the kittens. Most of the kittens didn’t even notice him, but as you’ll see Fizzbin and Rummy certainly did!
I went over to the window to take a picture of one of the cats, and was distracted by this mock*ing**bird*** (yeah!)****, who found the window-mounted bowl of mealworms (which I put there for the bluebirds) quite tasty.
*yeah!
**yeah!
***yeah!
****yeah!
Did you notice that Pinochle now has a freckle on his nose? It developed slowly and then all of a sudden there it was!

Good night innernets (and Mama). (This was taken last night; Canasta is spending tonight at the vet’s office after her spay surgery and will be home tomorrow.) (Brahms Lullaby by Howie Mitchell & Ruth Meyer is licensed under a Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.)
In case you missed the video of Rummy and Fizzbin meeting Uncle Charlie (scroll to see it; I posted it yesterday afternoon), here’s a still from the video. That is one fabulous floof suit on Rummy.
I got home with Canasta (who was spayed yesterday) about an hour ago. I attempted to put her in the guest bedroom (thinking that if it went okay she could stay in there for the day to recover a bit more), but she put on her big loud voice to let me know that that was NOT OKAY so I gave in and took her into the foster room. I expected that the kittens might hiss and/or floof at her since she smells like the vet (ie, something unfamiliar), but the reaction was 100% “Oh hi, Mom.” I truly don’t think they noticed she was gone. (Fizzbin was in the litter box and unavailable for this family picture.)
Rummy always looks like she’s being accused of something she totally did, but hasn’t yet figured out how to lie convincingly that she didn’t do it.

Throw Back Thursday: In 2013 we had Livia and her kittens (named after characters from the HBO show The Sopranos), and her kitten Silvio DID NOT WANT me to kiss him. Pardon the blurry video – but this always makes me laugh (you’ll note that I got my kiss in at the end.)
It’s such a rough life, Slapjack.

Throw Back Thursday: Mama Caroline in 2019 giving the vacuum cleaner THE BUSINESS. Don’t miss the end of the video, where you’ll see just how brave Charles was being.
Throw back Thursday: (Permanent resident) Newt in 2008. He’s 15 now, so he wasn’t much more than a kitten here. I looked out the kitchen window to find him snoozing in this bush. He slept there the entire afternoon before moseying back inside.

Sleepy little muffins in the giant loaf o’ bread. (That’s a Toastycat XL bread bed, and the kittens love it. I keep hoping they’ll make a human-sized version of it. Wouldn’t that be comfy?)
Good night innernets. (Fizzbin)
Former foster alert: Flynn (formerly Kohle when we fostered him 2012) is showing his little (human) brother just how to properly use the high chair. (Or… maybe he’s Da BAYbee!) (Thanks, Selena!)
These little muffins are 7 weeks old today! I didn’t include their weights on the picture this time, because they’re getting bigger and the text was encroaching on their pictures, so I’ll list them below.
…
Uno: currently 1 lb 12 oz (4.1 oz)
Slapjack: 2 lb 1 oz (4.8 oz)
Pinochle: 1 lb 14 oz (4.4 oz)
Whist: 1 lb 15 oz (4.3 oz)
Rummy: 1 lb 13 oz (4.1 oz)
Fizzbin: 2 lb 3 oz (4.8 oz)

Have you ever wondered what the backs of the kittens’ ears look like? Here you go!

When the very best toy is juuuust out of reach!
(Permanent resident) Dewey would like to report that the catnip plant is coming along nicely.
Y’all hush, now. Whist is watchin’ her stories.
Good night innernets. (Slapjack & Whist)
“Good morning innernets, please admire my toeses.” (Uno)
In case you were curious: yes, Canasta is still producing milk (she was spayed on Wednesday) and allowing the kittens to nurse. She has places where she can get up away from them if she so chooses – and she occasionally does – but for the most part she hangs out with them and has no problem telling them when the milk bar is closed.

Fizzbin likes to POP! straight up in the air. Because why not?

3 minutes of play time in the kitten room. And Mama Canasta gets in on the fun, too!
(Permanent residents) Charlie (left) and Archie really love that bed.
Good night innernets. (Slapjack)

How cute is that picture of Pinnocle looking out the window?
Perhaps someone else has asked this already and I missed it, but have you noticed any of the kittens pairing up so that you’d like to see them adopted together?
No, I don’t see any bonded pairs – they pretty much enjoy playing/snuggling with whoever’s closest.
